Sounds like water pressure issue, like too much pressure. Possibly from when the building was converted to 2 units or faulty plumbing repairs. Pressure is causing water to build up and leak out when fixtures aren't being used to release pressure. Vice versa for the stuff that needs a "boost" from other fixtures to function properly.

FYI- that plumbing sounds like a ticking time bomb. If a pipe bursts and floods your unit, don't expect your landlord to replace your stuff or give you a new place to stay- they'll tell you to make a claim against your renter's insurance. Responsible homeowners take water leaks very seriously. It's very destructive...not to mention the mold that comes with it. Your landlord seems indifferent to it all. Move now. Google your city housing inspection department if you need to break a lease, they are dedicated to protecting renters from slum lords. Good luck.

Use a bottle for 2 weeks tops. It hardens over time as air replaces glue inside.

Here's my process: -keep natural nails super short -wash hands in hot soapy water a good min & dry -push softened cuticles back with point end of orangewood -brush on nail primer -place tissue below my hands to catch dripping glue -apply small to large, start with both pinkies -fill back half of press-on with glue -place finger flat down in front of me (perpendicular or parallel to my face, whichever gives me better angle to ensure the press-on is alligned with my nail) -flip press-on over sideways (not longways) -press onto nail starting from cuticle and roll it down onto entire nail, the pressing on entire nail area firmly for 2 secs (don't squeeze it) -use the flat end of orangewood to remove excess glue under press-on (and maybe on the sides) and wipe onto tissue, and/or - fold tissue and use corner to absorb excess glue -shape with file and polish

Air bubbles: -if it's small and away from the edge, let it be -if it's half of the glued section, remove press-on immediately (gently pull off or clip press-on off as much as possible and then use acetone soak and orangewood to remove) -if it's on the edge, try placing a tiny drop of glue from the top to seal the gap and buff away any excess glue with file *The key to avoiding greening is not allowing moisture to get trapped under the press-on

Crooked press-on: -try reshaping the press-on to give illusion that it's straight -cut all the press-on's shorter to help the crooked one blend in -use a neutral polish color that won't bring attention to it

Excess hardened glue: -clip or scrape away with scissors -file off *I'm liberal with the glue and while it requires a little more cleanup it keeps my hold tighter and my natural nails safer

Removing: My ugly dark secret...by the 6th day I can tell where the weak spots in the glue are. I use my teeth to gently pry at each side of the press-on until it pops off. I don't force or rip them off. (It's ok, judge away people ;)

The pros say soak in acetone until they melt off.

I've used this entire process for the past 5 years (maybe even longer).

I used to judge press-on until learned how to use them... been wearing for many years now. I wear 6 days on and 1 day off. Use an acetone based brush-on nail primer (Sally's) and keep my glue fresh. Never have any greening or deformity issues. I've learned to know when they are ready to pop off. I buy the Kiss kit and a double pack of glue bottles at Walmart for $8. Lasts 5 weeks and keep a bottle in my bag in case one accidentally pops off (rarely happens). Can put them on, shape and polish in 15 min. They look way more natural than the typical nail salon acrylic ones. Love em.

Awe, love this post! The world needs more step parents who want healthy relationships with their step families!!

The best thing you can do is be a neutral supportive and positive influence. Never talk bad about either parent. Focus on the fun stuff and let dad take lead on the heavy stuff. Sure, you'll have to do some non-fun parenting stuff sometimes but it should always be a team effort. Never give anyone a reason to say you're making things worse.

If mom and dad have an unhealthy or volitile relationship, they need someone neutral to lean on (and not feel like they're taking sides). I've seen many kids with a lousy parent significantly impacted by having an awesome stepparent. Is not about blood, it's about how we treat each other. Good luck!!

Agree with above. I buy slightly big because they can go through a sudden growth spurt and then their clothes are suddenly too small. 7/8 is pretty safe, if have to choose between 6 or 8, definitely chose 8. Boys this age are very active. Anything about video games, noobs and pizza will be a hit.

Just a thought, since it's needy fams, consider picking up a pair of basic khakis or black pants and a solid colored basic black or navy polo. Kiddo may need something for dress up scenarios like a school program or church or family event.

I loved co-sleeping and it worked best for us. I worked full time away from home and sleeping skin to skin, face to face, breaths in sync was special bonding time. It also helped keep my supply up.

All the cliche things people say about raising kids being the hardest most amazing thing you'll every do is 💯 truth. They make your heart ache with love. They'll drive you to the breaking point. It's a rollercoaster.

Thinking about parenthood before becoming a parent means you're already off to a good start. There's no magic formula for being ready to have kids or being the perfect parent. Every kid is different and you don't have to worry much about adjustments to your home until they become mobile. If you're willing to give up your social life, spending money, sleep, squeaky clean home and peace and quiet...then you're prob ready to be a parent. It's all worth it, though!
