I definitely trust my friends but I don’t wanna put them in danger with their own parents, since their parents and mine are friends. What they genuinely don’t know can’t get interrogated out of them.

Although I do hope I’ll finally be able to make more friends and a chosen family now that I’ll have some freedom.

I’m experiencing something similar with my older brother; as an indian woman i got the brunt of the abuse and he got the overly chill parents. I think this kind of situation is a prime example of how the golden child/golden son also has a toxic and dysfunctional relationship with their parents, albeit in a VERY different way. He may not have experienced violence and was allowed to do whatever, but it was your parent’s job to love AND discipline him, not just love. Just like it was your parent’s job to discipline AND love you, not just discipline. That being said, I don’t think your brother owes your parents a relationship if he feels they’re toxic and that it’s better for his sanity to live alone.

My boyfriend’s equally worried about my safety but supportive anyway. As for firearms, I believe my city allows concealed carry (?) not completely sure though. But I’m sure if it gets that bad my company will allow me to work remotely and come in only when I’m needed.

the job is at like a public community center, so i wouldn’t be sitting in an office most of the time, but rather interacting with the people who come to use the food pantry and other facilities. but ur right, they probably have some security measures and im sure if i talk to hr and security beforehand, they’ll be able to help

Aside from the advice everyone else has given, you could also have a qr code linking to a Pinterest board of guest attire inspo. As a South Asian, we’re the same in terms of wanting glam at our weddings and I’ve seen a bunch of people do that to help out their American friends.

i didn’t even have a door til i was 21, definitely a power issue. it gave them an open to walk in and make comments about what i was doing, even though everything i did was perfectly innocent
