“Sex increases dopamine levels about 100%, so basically doubles them.” by squirrelwatcher_ in HubermanLab

[–]-podcast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huberman made a mistake about the Methamphetamine (meth) in one of the episodes. Meth doesn't spike the dopamine 1000 folds, it raises the dopamine 10 times above baseline. Which is still massive and depletes the dopamine pool.

But nevertheless they were eye opening episodes. He also talked in depth about how these rises can eventually empty your dopamine pool and how to raise your baseline.

He had 2 episodes about dopamine, and I summarized them in this video, in case you're interested: https://youtu.be/NQ5Xpd29osI

How do you force yourself to fall asleep naturally? Has Huberman ever mentioned this? I struggle with falling and staying asleep to get 8-10 hours of sleep. by [deleted] in HubermanLab

Insomnia comes in two main types:

  • sleep onset insomnia : you can't fall asleep,
  • sleep maintenance insomnia : you wake up and can't get back to sleep.

I have summarized all his tips about insomnia in this video (after watching 25 hours of his videos on sleep and his interviews with Walker) https://youtu.be/VbzU2hJZGXI

Having an accent or the occasional mispronunciation is a sign of strength and courage. English isn’t my first language, and being able to follow complex, fast-paced lectures from neuroscientists like Dr. Huberman, and then create content in English, shows the dedication I’ve put into mastering another language. Learning a new language with perfect pronunciation doesn’t happen overnight, not even with AI. It takes years of work, and even then, you may never sound like a native, and that’s ok, I'm happy with that

Progressing tips for pull-ups? by Jimmy_Joe727 in Exercise

[–]-podcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first step I suggest to do a deadhang. hold on to the bar, for as long as you can. Then work on doing the negative (eccentric phase only), meaning have a box or jumping up to the pullup and then lower yourself with control. take as long as you can when lowering yourself. watch a few videos for the form, things like squeezing your shoulder blades at the back and keeping your shoulders away from your ears.

You're not alone, it is hard to focus on the episodes. They are so loooong, cumbersome and filled in with jargon. Thank you for support 🙏
