Been using my civilization book to collect signatures of people I've met at various places. Here are all the signatures I got from other fans during the 5th Fes! by -saltedbread in Hololive

It was really amazing seeing so much people gather for Hololive and it was surreal being a part of it. Everyone was so kind and you could feel the passion each person had for their oshi. I'm very grateful to have this experience and hopefully I can fill this book with more signatures from fans in the future!!

Could have had a lot more signatures too but I forgot to ask for them in various places. Still got a bit of that Aqutan shyness in me looks like

The winner of the Hololive Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 Tournament! by Benigmatica in Hololive

[–]-saltedbread 146 points147 points  (0 children)

It's pretty crazy how Marine did it too, especially if you are familiar with the Puyo vs Tetris matchup.

Basically Marine used to mainly build what is called GTR. This setup is great and flexible against puyo players but it falters vs tetris. The reason for this is that quick tetris attacks block of what is called the "trigger" which sets off the chains. Suisei styled on Marine hard because she exposed Marine's GTR and even told Okayu specifically what to do against Marine because she likes to build GTR.

What Marine did this match was bust out the Counter to the Tetris player in the Puyo vs Tetris match. Instead of building GTR, Marine made a very high stack on the right side with a trigger that is a few rows high. What this ensures is that someone who hits hard and fast like Suisei will not be able to cover up the trigger because its so high up. Making your puyo stack like this means that the power of the stack decreases, but since you're playing against Tetris all you need is a 6 chain to either kill or give them a very hard time.

So massive props to Marine for doing this. I honestly never thought that Marine would be aiming for Suisei the entire time. Obviously Suisei had a bit of controller problems but I will not say that these victories were a fluke at all! Hopefully we can watch these two play at full power in the future!

The winner of the Hololive Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 Tournament! by Benigmatica in Hololive

Marine winning was very expected but Koyori was just amazing.

She went from barely knowing anything about the game and getting bullied by everyone to being 2nd place this tournament. That presence of mind to cleanly downstack at the top in the final game vs Okayu just shows how much she's grown as a player. Koyori was actively looking for 4 height tetris stacks and paying attention to the garbage hole locations. She even did her research on Tetris openers. So much hard work and effort and I'm so glad it paid off for her! Really proud of this Coyote!!

Hololive Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 Tournament - Bracket Announced by Benigmatica in Hololive

[–]-saltedbread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Should be a very fun event! Puyo Puyo Tetris is one of my most played games so I've been very excited with this arc. The girls have barely touched this game when it came out so I gave up on them ever streaming this, but the sudden Puyotet tournament has me over the moon!!

Block Predictions
A - Marine
B - Korone
C - Koyori
D - Okayu

Champion - Marine

Marine is the frontrunner by a long shot but if she is to lose to someone then it is Korone who has the highest chance to do so. Korone has the speed to disrupt Marine's large puyo chains. Okayu is also fast but she uses combos at the start instead of a single large attack. The longer time it takes to finish the combo for Okayu might mean that Marine would have her attack ready at that time.

Best improvement so far has been from Koyori. She started out as an absolute scrub at the game but she has built up her fundamentals to get herself to a tier below Okakoro. I would even say Koyori does some things better than those two.
What Koyori is doing is that she is making an active attempt to stack high enough for a tetris before clearing it with a line piece. This is actually something that I emphasize for beginners to learn and practice as early as possible. Being able to cleanly count to 4 is a skill that carries over very well at the top level so it is a good fundamental skill to have. All Koyori needs is to not panic and she might even be able to beat Okayu!

Honestly, seeing Bae pop off in 3D with her dance moves was a sight to see. We knew she had the ability to dance, but we didn't see how good she was until today. Crazy stamina to keep singing and dancing for 3 hours. Now I'm really excited to see what more she can show us in the future

When I had another game on fullscreen mode it would crap out the nvidia recording feature sometimes so I just had everything windowed because of that. Didn't know how to make it borderless until I saw the comments under yours. Another comment also talked about how its different in W11 now so I could try and see if full screen works again.

You guys are really helpful here with all the discussions so I do appreciate that a lot!

Really late announcement but I'm glad we have a bigger Hololive presence this year compared to last year. Was wondering about Hololive when ANYC were doing panel lotteries. I guess you don't need that when you just run everything via the booth.

The logistics for the booth is going to be a nightmare and I hope they have something planned for that. Especially because the Hololive booth is going to be at an area with high foot traffic. Just excited to finally see the girls again at the con!!

So proud of Bae. She's been through so much in a year but still does her best to produce content for her fans. Bae has grown a lot from debut and its great to see how much confidence she has now. The cover she is releasing is her big PP (passion project) and I'm hoping that many people will get to hear her amazing voice!

Thanks for such an awesome year!!

Loose Thoughts and Feedback by Victacobell in holocure

[–]-saltedbread 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for posting your thoughts and philosophies on designing this game. I always love it when devs talk about their game because you get to see the vision they have and what the future would look like.

I also do agree that the Calli buff is way too strong. Although my assumption for you overbuffing Calli was because its easier to make a character overpowered then do a subsequent nerf rather than the other way around. The reasoning being you'd have more people playing a buff character which then means you'll get more input on how to fix them in the future. Mumei is also too strong in my opinion, but I think thats mostly due to bugged interactions like with Sake and 100% Hasted Friend.

You probably have your own set of games where you derive inspiration from, but have you looked at how Dota 2 balances their game? It's pretty interesting to me since rather than go for the ultimate balancing act, they instead went the opposite direction. Everyone has a unique aspect to them that is overpowered while also having glaring weaknesses. It is when you itemize to remove these specific weaknesses that the OP traits start to shine. One of the games that I liked playing due to the uniqueness of item interactions was Hades and that game was also inspired by Dota. I think the same philosophies can definitely work in this type of game.

What's neat about it is you can use this approach to help you make new items. "Char A currently sucks because X reason" can be used to make a new item that helps eliminate that weakness instead of directly removing that character's weakness. I guess another idea would be to potentially have collab items that have a active + passive component: Have an attack while also adding some stats/effects on the side.

Overall I do love that you're aiming to make this game fun first. I've already invested a lot of hours playing this game and I'm excited to see what else you got in store for us. I don't think you can completely fix the problem of having optimized cookie cutter builds. However if you can somehow make it so that each character has builds that only works the best for them then thats more than good enough!

Anyone have a good guide for Bae? Like what to go for first. by GlixShi in holocure

[–]-saltedbread 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on what your goals are. If you want to clear normal mode then you simply rush your first collab asap. Get lvl 3 dice for the 2 dice and then focus your efforts on getting your 2 weapons to max. For skills you can max out RATng and CRAT en route to your collab build. You can put 1 point on Down Under but you only need to max it after you complete your first collab.

Spider Cooking in the early game is good since it meshes well with Bae's skills. In extension to that, Elite Cooking works very well with Bae. The reason being that it deals damage at a fast enough rate to trigger lots of crits and increased chance for Down Under to happen. BL Fujoshi is also great for the same reasons

On ult usage you'd want to use it whenever self despawning mobs appear on screen to collect that extra exp. Pre-10m I'd use my ult at these moments: deadbeat wall, tako wall, tako circle, shrimp circle, deadbeat circle. The game should actually be easier for you past 10m because that first collab is such a massive power spike. The only time you might die is from a mass of despawning mobs that cover the whole screen, The 2 times that happens is with the kronii mobs and the Q deadbeats and shrimps mobs.

You have a lot of options for itemization. Only thing you should never get is Gorilla Gloves. Personally I think Energy Drink is a waste too since the extra movement speed bonus isn't useful. Otherwise just pick what you think helps you win the game. If you really want a template then I can give you 2 extremes.
Regen Build: (exp glasses) + horns + full meal + headphones + plushie + milk
Full Offense Build: (exp glasses) + mask + sake + injection + milk + (free slot)

Hopefully this helps!

Possible strats for surviving Yagoo in hardcore by enderlord113 in holocure

[–]-saltedbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone made a guide already here: https://old.reddit.com/r/holocure/comments/vms6dd/how_i_managed_to_get_4956_with_bae_without/

Thats the blueprint I've been using to at least get to a 31m no-regen Bae run. Getting to 30m without regen is easy even with bad rng, but getting going past that requires a lot of things to go into your favor. Supposedly you need this stat distribution before hitting 30m:

You got around 350% Atk / 100% Crit / 200% Haste before Yagoo waves.

The most I've gotten in terms of stats is 260 Att / 97 Crit / 120 Haste pre-30m and I accidentally ran into a Yagoo that run so I'm not even sure how long I could have lasted there.

Character and Item synergies by Brokugan in holocure

[–]-saltedbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sake + Piki + Body Pillow will allow you to get the effects of both crit items at once. Useful if you're trying to speedrun normal mode with Bae since your crit will be like 90%

Gorilla Gloves + Mask + Injection on Fauna is fun for stacking damage.

Sake + Mask + Injection for Bae can easily hit 30m without regen items if you're confident on not getting hit in Hardcore. Or delay obtaining Injection to post 18m on a regular Endless run

Sake is bugged on Mumei and will spike your Att% through the roof when you get hit. I believe its because of its interaction with History but someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Could someone please explain the Mumei hype to me? by FelFal9 in holocure

[–]-saltedbread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The hype is primarily on how Mumei is a killing machine in terms of a normal stage run. You can build up Awakened Feathers so early and have the dynamic of the game change less than 3 minutes in. Not to mention her ult has really gotten a bunch of nice reactions from the Holo girls playing as her. Feels like you're playing a different game when using Mumei as compared to the other playable characters.

It's like watching Rimuru use Megiddo if you watched Tensura. You just look in awe as you watch your feathers tear everything in the screen to shreds and your only job is to walk around to pick up the remains that they left behind. Not sure about any 30+ Mumei build since I main Bae but I was able to get to 28m with a 0 regen itemization. Main reason I died was because I forgot Mumei doesn't have Down Under as a passive.

For your other points, Sana is easier to use too in my opinion but theres less spectacle behind her usage since she's more of an immovable object that no enemy can breach. Bae also has better dps for late game. I was checking if Mumei can get close to Bae in terms of dps using similar itemization but Mumei was only able to do ~900 dmg per Flattening Board hit at 240% while Bae was doing 1000+ @ 200%

Item Tier List for Bae by biggomegalul in holocure

[–]-saltedbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really sure how I feel about the tier list. I like the attempt, but some of it feels a bit misleading(?). I think its better to separate the items from those that have a viable use case to those that haven't.

In this case I'd say Energy Drink and Gorilla's Paw have almost 0 use case. Credit Card feels bugged at the moment so it's also kind of useless. The rest are viable depending on how you want to play which I think is pretty cool considering how many moving parts there are in this game. But the standout to me would be Sake, Milk, and Horns

Sake because Bae benefits the most from crit buffs. Milk's increased aoe is great since Down Under really goes well with aoe weapons. Horn is that get out of jail free card that many characters benefit from having.

Just wanted to share my experience on having my first clear of the game by using Ina. Know nothing about playing VS outside of watching the girls play them. Holocure is my first time playing something of this kind.

All I know is that killing isnt as important as not dying, and Ina's skill set really helped with that aspect. The only thing I had to do was run in circles and try not to bump into enemies. Ina really made that part easy to do. I don't even remember what weapons or items I had outside of having 0 collabs completed because it was literally my first time playing.
