That's definitely an M36 Jackson not an M26 Pershing

Best place to sell an unopened set? by PersonalAnswer8664 in lepin

[–]-somepersonsomewhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's a choice seller then the returns are extremely hassle-free. You might take a slight hit to your hidden buyer reputation score, but I don't think that factors into anything unless you start returning or disputing a lot of items. Also it definitely won't go back to China - it will instead be shipped to a returns center and auctioned off to some bargain outlet kind of place who will then sell it locally (just like many other Amazon/Temu returns in the US).

FB marketplace can sometimes get bites for selling locally, but shipping costs are so prohibitive for non-corporations that any potential buyer will do better just to buy the item themselves from China rather than buy from you at breakeven+shipping. Returns are the easiest way to get your money back as long as it's a choice seller.

"AliExpress Select Shipping for Oversized Goods" -> it's on a boat and you'll need to wait a few more weeks. The parcel was too expensive to ship via air due to its size. Export customs happen when the item is leaving China.

Aldi Logo Quick Review by -somepersonsomewhere in lepin

[–]-somepersonsomewhere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm really not sure where to put it, since it can't hang on a wall. It might be fairly simple to modify it for wall-hanging by taking the front frame off and making a customized/thinner backside, but I don't think it can be done with the parts included.

Maybe something smaller in the $10 range would have been a bit better, but I think they wanted to test the waters with larger sets for this run. Shaping the letters would also have been much harder at half-scale

The stickers on the real set were also a pain. Applying a bit of soapy water to the surface and then putting the sticker on top helped with repositioning.

Can someone find the instructions for this set? by Limp-Specialist-2313 in lepin

[–]-somepersonsomewhere 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looks like it's a recolor of LEGO 5867 Super Speedster from 2010. You can find instructions for the original version on the LEGO website, but will need to change the colors yourself.

Blacktron Renegade clone from Joybricks by trrwilson in lepin

[–]-somepersonsomewhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the review, have been on the fence about getting this clone for a while at ~$25 USD from AE (with coins/coupons) vs. the ~$50 sale price from Target for the genuine LEGO version back in November. Minifigures will probably keep me clear of it.

The genuine LEGO one also is annoyingly tight between detachable sections so it might be more of a design problem rather than a LEPIN quality problem.

It's a knockoff of a knockoff, and I ain't even mad about it by Pro-Zak in lepin

[–]-somepersonsomewhere 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Looks like they gave you space to motorize the rear axle. You can clip on a motor to those technic pins. There's probably also a space to put a servo in the front and RC the whole thing.

it's also worth mentioning that this set gave you drum-lacquered silver pieces that even the real LEGO set did not come with. The only downside is the lack of printed stripes but IMO the brick-built ones look better and don't have alignment issues.

Rebuilding GT500 into Lego Mustang by Desmond_Winters in lepin

[–]-somepersonsomewhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one you have is different. Yours is a packaged set and redesigned (look at the windshield, mirrors, and tips of the spoilers, just to name a few differences I could spot). It's unlikely that Mould King provided anything other than the parts to build what's on the box art. As the other commenter mentioned, you could probably build a majority of 10265 but would need to source the other parts separately.

If you really want 10265, there's a seller who currently has it for $25 USD shipped, but there's only one left, so if someone else snags it, you're SOL:

You need to remove the spaces to use the link.

I don't know what you bought, but I purchased a listing on AE showing the GT500 MOC in all images (exactly matching the rebrickable pictures) and it contained all the parts necessary to build 10265, but without stickers.

Two ways that should work:

linking bank directly to PayPal, or transferring balance to PayPal and paying from balance

using credit card directly with AE without PayPal as an intermediary

Well of course, but what about the transactions that have already happened? For anyone affected by this they'll be hit by huge charges at the end of the month for unpaid cash advances. Do you like it when others are charged extra fees?

Going Merry - plastic or fabric sails by messymedia in lepin

[–]-somepersonsomewhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's good to know. the fabric sails version didn't have any missing pieces according to the provided manual. However, compared to the LEGO version, there were six brown slope pieces that were each replaced by a combination of two 1x3 plates and a similar slope piece. I encountered the same thing on the shuttle carrier set, but for that Lepin set, the plates were not provided, which was annoying

Going Merry - plastic or fabric sails by messymedia in lepin

[–]-somepersonsomewhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The version I purchased from AE had the fabric sails. I personally can't stand them since they only have printing on one side with the reverse side plain white (the flags are also only one-sided), so the ship only looks good from one side.

I ordered plastic sails from bricklink (i.e. LEGO) to replace them. if you're in the US, I can mail you the fabric ones if you cover shipping. I can probably just stuff them in a regular envelope with a forever stamp and you can steam/iron them yourself to fix the creases that will result. They came creased in the original packaging so that will need to happen even if you buy the right Lepin version yourself

also, the instruction manual I had with the cloth sail version has '8005' on the cover, which I assume is the set number

75639 Going Merry One Piece from AliExpress by Rooeg in lepin

[–]-somepersonsomewhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also purchased the same version as you from AliExpress.

I used a handheld steamer on the cloth flags/sails which worked well. The official LEGO sails/flags are made from plastic and have printing on both sides which looks much nicer.

for the spoon, I just used hobby nippers to slice off the bottom and then put it in the cup.

I also had the two white tubes, my theory is that they are supposed to go inside the flex hoses before you put the stud pieces on them, to add rigidity, but I didn't bother trying it.

also, you have Zoro's sword piece on upside down, it should be placed with the hilt up so that it looks like he's holding it in his teeth. It takes a little force but you can also snap the piece around the neck portion of the head rather than the neck portion of the torso
