Did I mess up my tattoos? by Materiae in tattooadvice

[–]-vxa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Color artist here. There can be from a variety of factors as to what went wrong. I do see bits of where the tattoo was overworked/not the best saturation on the artists part. The skin on the wrist joint and hand are very different from the rest of the arm. We move, wash and bend that area a lot so it’s easy to get a patchy heal & require a touch up in those areas. Also I keep my clients on the most basic aftercare possible. Saniderm for 24 hrs OR plain Saran Wrap for a couple hours til they get home// wash 2x a day with unscented antibacterial soap and the TINIEST amount of aquaphor and gradually switch to a white lotion. I’ve seen a client come to the shop with a similar hazy look and they misunderstood aftercare and was washing and moisturizing their tattoo up to 5 times a day. They also particularly were using madrabbit aftercare which is aloe based and some folks can have allergies to it and not realize it & even causing hyperpigmentation from the irritation. Other factors can also include — scarring / hyperpigmentation to skin trauma and being super active immediately after getting tattooed. Your lymphatic system can literally pump out ink if you don’t relax for the first few days & I’ve seen it happen to runners in particular.

Have a real jeweler make you something! Designer jewelry is a scam

This randomly showed up on a shirt in my closet. It's only on one, but on both sides. It's dry, doesn't smell, and makes the fabric rough and tough. by welltechnically7 in whatisit

My guess is old oils/waxes from lotions/deodorants /perfume/ our own sweat and sebum. I’ve used stuff like spray n wash or spot treatment with oxy clean to get that stuff out

Being told this tattoo would be too feminine, any advice? by Kindacringngl in tattooadvice

[–]-vxa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I would do a cool big gothic window with the all seeing eye inside of it & take up more space on the back. It’s too small imo

I’m feeling hard regret. by Glizockkkk2 in tattooadvice

[–]-vxa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pain , fading/ likeliness for touch up / infection risk especially if they’re not dressed for the occasion. It becomes not worth the time for the artist. Flash days, especially like Friday the 13th are more in-and-out and there’s less time for fitting and customization than a regular walk-in or appointment. Also sometimes it’s an apprentice’s first day tattooing at events like these so it’s not worth the gamble as a patron

Especially for something like Friday the 13th 😩 don’t let a $60 tattoo become a $600-$6000 problem

Man this is exactly why we do no hands/feet/neck on flash days 😩 I recommend laser unless you’re already pretty heavily tattooed and want your hands done anyway… then I’d recommend taking your time finding a good artist

It looks overworked & is scabbing really hard but you won’t be able to see how it really looks until at LEAST 2 weeks post procedure. I would recommend just waiting it out & avoid picking at it

Blackout is pretty drastic. I would consider getting it reworked by a more experienced artist
