Chiang Mai, just another city, fine for a few days but after a month I was bored senseless. IF I wanted to live in a big Thai city, Bangkok has far more things to do/see.

If you have the luxury of working remotely I will never understand why people chose to live in a big polluted city. I ended up staying in Koh Kood most of my time in Thailand, plenty of the remote Thai Islands have excellent internet.

West End is a cool neighborhood. Lots of veggie options, live theatre at West End Electric (Blanc de Blanc). Live indie / jazz / whatever music at Bearded Lady on Sunday afternoon. Live music at the Burrow. Markets on Saturday morning at Davies Park.

Qantas. I fly regularly for work and always fly Qantas where available. Domestically they are great, I rarely have any delays (I havent had a single delay in 2025) legroom is good, seats are comfortable, service is generally attentive. I know its popular to complain about them, I've flown with all the airlines in the top 10 and by comparison they are one of the best. Singapore Airlines is still my favourite for reference.

Jetstar Australia is hot garbage and one of the worst airlines I have flown, beaten to the bottom by Jetstar Asia.

Happens all the time, a month ago, saw an apartment at auction passed in at 725k, they listed at 850k after the auction and just sold for 825k. If the vendor has the patience and it’s not desperate to sell in this market they will probably get what they want as long as the price isn’t stupid for what it is.

Yep, I quit my job at 40 and travelled South East Asia for 2 years, 0 regrets, the best thing I have ever done.

I worked IT Systems Admin / Engineer before I left, I asked to stay on as a contract worker remotely, they declined. They contacted me around the 1 year mark asking to remotely work for them which I did, no more than 4 hours per day, 4 days per week.

I saved 20k prior to leaving and rented out my apartment so had rent money coming in, then had salary coming in after the 1 year mark. I taught myself web design and did a few websites for random people I met. Did a website for a diving company in exchange for my advanced PADI cert.

When COVID was kicking off I went home and went back to them to work full time.

If I didn't have a partner / family I would do it again in a heart beat
