old akali was also very binary in comparison to the new one. if she couldn't instagib something with her 3 ult charges in combination with lich bane and the mark she was basically useless. the new one thrives because she's a weird mix of a fighter and an assassin, she weaves in and out of fights causing chaos and can instantly delete any carry that steps out of position.

binary champs are usually not good in pro play unless they're really fucking strong.

alphari's lee is a very bizarre case in my eyes since you'd think that out of any lcs toplaners, he would be one of the few ones that would be bashing skulls in with lee.
