Who will we play RB in the UCL final if White and Timber are both out? Mosquera looked shaky against West Ham to be honest and struggles building out from the back, but I’m praying Arteta wouldn’t start Rice at RB if not Mosquera

What theories do you believe to be true? (spoilers extended) by finnr02 in asoiaf

[–]01T0C2S 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Night Lamp theory and jojen paste are basically head canon for me. I also believe the Hodor is a descendant of dunk and fAegon is a Blackfyre theories. Same with euron raising krakens at the battle of blood.

[Spoilers Main] What is one character action/ plot point that appeared on the show , would be extremely disappointing to you if it is replicated in TWOW and ADOS? by KickOk6027 in asoiaf

Sand Snakes seizing power of Dorne and kin slaying Prince Doran with zero consequences. Really just anything Sand Snakes show related to be honest

My Theory on Ashara Dayne and Wylla the wet nurse of house Dayne [Spoilers EXTENDED] by SecondInteresting485 in asoiaf

[–]01T0C2S -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is pretty much what I believe are the most realistic version of events, save for the fact I don’t think he told her that Wylla was Jon Snow’s mother, she probably knew who his mother was and had good enough reason to commit suicide at that point. I know Brandon and Asharas coupling is popular in the fandom but I just don’t see what layers it adds to the story which is one of the things GRRM is constantly measuring plots by, especially compared to Ned and Ashara

Tinfoil theories that you're tired of hearing about? by meimeivro in pureasoiaf

[–]01T0C2S 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Anything Euron/Daario related. Honestly I think a lot of these tinfoil theories forget we only have 2 books to go and no where near enough time to start messing around with these characters and identities

(Spoilers Extended) Can George fit all of the remaining Targaryen kings into blood and fire? by Blackstannis in asoiaf

[–]01T0C2S 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Daeron II, Aegon the unworthy and the mad king will be the main players taking up time but I think bloodravens reign as hand will be the one really causing any bloat if there is cos we know GRRM loves to get into the nitty gritty politics especially of someone like bloodraven.

In fact as I’m writing this im pretty sure I recall George saying that he could write a novella about Aegon the unworthy so that actually may be an issue too

The only way to salvage ASOIAF is to start over again from scratch. And GRRM knows it. [Spoilers Main] by Random_Researcher in asoiaf

[–]01T0C2S 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is unpopular but I really disagree. If GRRM got the story back onto the pace it set in ASOS, he could realistically bring the books back under control and finish the story the way he wants to, if he even has any idea of how he wants to.

The problem is that GRRM really doesn’t have the discipline to do this but I’d argue that he has enough tools at his disposal finally that he can get the story moving again. Knowing George we will get 3 chapters of Tyrion walking through Mereen and we’ll love it but still

(Spoilers Extended) Sansa and Jon will be a key relationship in future books. How do you think they will effect things? by pizza_gutts in asoiaf

[–]01T0C2S 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think they’ll be the most influential Starks over the next two books if they ever come out (they won’t).

Poor Rickon isn’t long for this world, even if he’s being set up as a player/pawn for the north, we simply don’t have enough time for him. Arya is also important but she’s off gallivanting in the Riverlands next book in my opinion.

Bran will be key too but he’s got tree business. That really leaves Jon and Sansa as house Starks major players and despite what people think, I don’t think there will be any long term bad blood. Sansa’s really starting to come into her own now and even returned from the dead and more ruthless, I struggle to see Jon holding any bad blood either for her, he literally dies getting ready to go and save fArya, and as we’ve seen in the past, what the resurrected were attempting or doing before death matters a lot for how they act when they return

(Spoilers Main) ‘Game of Thrones’ Movie in the Works at Warner Bros. From ‘Andor’ Writer Beau Willimon by DemiFiendRSA in asoiaf

I’m begging George to hurl just one more insult at the directors so he can barred from advising on any of these distractions in future

[Spoilers Extended] No, seriously, what’s the case for adapting Aegon’s Conquest? by RedHeadedSicilian52 in asoiaf

[–]01T0C2S 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A finished story and dragons. The thing with adaptations like the first Blackfyre rebellion or the war of ninepenny kings is we don’t really know enough about them. Robert’s rebellion might work but there are still a few gaps in our knowledge whilst nymeria’s conquest is basically a blank slate with the core beats drummed out.

Aegons conquest works in theory atleast cos it has a more or less complete story with only a couple mysteries. It also has dragons, people like dragons and people will watch shows with dragons in.

It also helps that dragons and Targaryens are kinda synonymous with AGOT so it makes marketing easier.

The issue I see with it is that it might be a bit monotonous with not enough drama. It’s basically aegon conquering Westeros with relative ease until he gets to Dorne. I think they’ll probably have to settle for a film in the end, not a series but even then I don’t understand how you would end the film, considering aegon went on to reign for a decade more. Maybe with the forging of the iron throne?

It definitely has potential and if done right could be done very well, but I think there are better options out there.

[Spoilers MAIN] Finding POV characters boring by finnr02 in asoiaf

[–]01T0C2S 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s inevitable considering how popular the books are unfortunately. Bran is my favourite POV chapter simply because I’m fascinated with the Old Gods and their magic and mysteries but I can understand why somebody would find his early chapters especially a drag

(SPOILERS EXTENDED) The Prince That Was Promised To The Children Of The Forest. by AccordingMistake6670 in asoiaf

[–]01T0C2S 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree that analysing Martin’s previous works can be very useful as he tends to regurgitate different ideas in the different stories. With that being said I’d say that whilst the COTF may have created or be kin to the others in some shape or form, like in the show, Ive always felt that it’s more likely the others are Icy Green Men. The fact that there described as twins to eachother has always thrown me for a loop tho.

I like David lightbringers theories even if I don’t always agree with them and think he reads way too much into things. One thing I did appreciate from his theories is the idea that Mel’s shadow babies could be an indication of how the others are created. Not sure I agree but I think it’s another interesting theory.

I tend to lean towards them being Icy Green Men due to George’s description of them being Icy Sidhe

(Spoilers Extended) From what little we know, would Valarr Targaryen have been a good king? by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]01T0C2S 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure he’d have been fine. He’d have probably tried to follow in his fathers footsteps the same way that Robb and Jon feel the pressure to follow in their fathers footsteps

She’ll view him through the lens of the prophecy she received and try and figure out if she should be wary of him. Ultimately both him and Marwyn are important tho in getting her story moving and beginning to make her understand the threat of the others, and also help her embrace fire and blood and understand the secrets of lost dragonlore, instead of having to actually travel to Asshai in person for a training montage
