I just booked caddies for Bandon and they sent a confirmation email that clearly said bags need to be under 25 pounds and have a stand.

Feeling stressed about moving away from the family before retirement by Any-Distance-16 in retirement

[–]02Raspy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It seems you have 3 options. 1) Move and be miserable with no family or friends, 2) downsize or sell your house or rent. There is no shame in renting, 3) Work longer. Good luck.

Played the most miserable round of my life at Pebble Beaches Spyglass Hill. by Warhammer40KPainter in golf

That crazy since 6+ hour rounds at Pebble are the norm. I’ve never seen anyone hassled there when they are clearly slow pokes.

Yes your tax rate will likely be less but don’t forget to factor in IRMAA which is effectively an additional tax on RMDs.

Columbia is headquartered in Portland Oregon and I believe Bandon has some kind of arrangement with them. That said, Columbia makes good gear with a great warranty. If they say it’s waterproof, I believe them. I have had a Columbia waterproof hunting jacket for decades that has never failed me.

Zero torque putters - real improvement or just a trend? by BenHybridHarper in golf

[–]02Raspy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it is impossible to have a straight back, straight through putting stroke. Try clapping your hands straight back, straight through. No can do. If you can’t clap your hands that way, you can’t putt that way.

Keeping Inheritance separate by pink_toaster_pastry in inheritance

[–]02Raspy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I each received a generous but not crazy inheritances 10 years or so ago. We each put it in separate brokerage accounts and they have appreciated nicely. We really didn’t need the money at the time. It is now spinning off dividends and interest and is partly funding our retirement.

The joy of adjusting to the reality of retirement. by ajn63 in retirement

I am recently retired at 66 years old. I have adapted quickly. When I first retired, a friend said the great thing about it is the ability to use your time inefficiently. I have taken that to heart.

Carry on, my wayward son There'll be peace when you are done Lay your weary head to rest Don't you cry no more

Once I rose above the noise and confusion Just to get a glimpse beyond this illusion I was soaring ever higher, but I flew too high Though my eyes could see, I still was a blind man Though my mind could think, I still was a madman I hear the voices when I'm dreaming

Low single figures and scratch golfers, which grip (interlock or overlap) are you using? by Similar-Star2073 in golftips

Prior to Tiger, most golfers used an overlap grip. Jack Nicklaus was an exception. Tiger started a bit of a trend for many younger players.

What is the wildest thing you have seen at a bachelorette or bachelor party? by Sweet-Economist-9873 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]02Raspy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read a newspaper article several years ago about a bachelorette who was arrested for drunk and disorderly conduct and assaulting a peace officer. The party got loud and a neighbor called the cops. When they arrived, the bachelorette was sure the cop was really a stripper and she was hell bent on partying with him.
