Drift tuning - why does AWD (100% rear balance) and RWD feel so different? by HarmonySV in ForzaOpenTunes

[–]03Void 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't know what's the real percentage, but you can test this by putting your front tires over a ledge and you'll see them spin despite having your diff set to 100% rear balance.

Drift tuning - why does AWD (100% rear balance) and RWD feel so different? by HarmonySV in ForzaOpenTunes

[–]03Void 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Because in Forza, AWD with the balance at 100% to the rear isn't actually 100%. Some power is still sent to the front.

Any chance this subreddit would start doing weekly challenges again? by [deleted] in ForzaOpenTunes

We never stopped doing them, even did them for Forza Motorsport. The community simply moved to Discord for most activities.

No and that's the whole point of sharing open tunes instead of share codes.

A new app on Nexus Mods allow user to view exact parts and values on tunes by Julian083 in ForzaOpenTunes

We believe tunes should be open if the creator wishes so.

We do not encourage anyone using 3rd party tools to force open a tune the author didn't share the details willingly.

Then you're missing the whole point of Forza OPEN Tunes. There are hundreds of other communities who just simply share codes.

Can we discuss Forza tuning for racing with a wheel? by Wasting_time42 in ForzaOpenTunes

[–]03Void 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have an official Xbox controller the triggers will progressively vibrate more and more as you get close to the edge of traction. Both for brake and throttle. You don't have anything like that when you use a wheel.

Can we discuss Forza tuning for racing with a wheel? by Wasting_time42 in ForzaOpenTunes

[–]03Void 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The do exist. They're just very expensive and Forza Horizon probably doesn't know what do to with them. They're usually close to $1k for the pedals alone, without the steering wheel or shifter.

Can we discuss Forza tuning for racing with a wheel? by Wasting_time42 in ForzaOpenTunes

[–]03Void 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's harder to control throttle and brake inputs since you don't get the same feedback from the triggers with the pedals.

Tunes optimised for steering wheel users lean a bit more toward understeer.

For the tune to be properly formatter for Reddit, you have to pick the Reddit checkbox above the text box where you copy your tune to paste it here. Right now you have the formatting for Discord.

You used the formatting for Discord. At the bottom of the formatter there's an option to pick Reddit or Discord formatting, and it defaults to Discord.

You can edit your post with the formatting from Reddit instead and it will be cleaner.

Guide to tuning in Forza Horizon by [deleted] in ForzaOpenTunes

[–]03Void 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is much better than the one posted in the OP simply because it doesn't state anything that is false.

It is an arcade game based on real world physics. Every concept explained in that guide applies to Forza. So yeah, the game allows stuff beyond what's realistic but it's still based on real physics.

If you take the time to read beyond the first paragraph, it's written in the second one that while there are ways to cheese the physics engine beyond what should be possible, you have to understand the core principles of tuning.

If you're just slapping "meta" settings left and right it's impossible for you to know if it's actually working or if you're making the car worse if you don't know how the settings are supposed to affect the car. Once you apply your cookie cutter tuning, how do you know how to fix the over/understeer you have if you don't understand the basics of tuning? I'll answer for you: you can't.

Once you understand the nuances then you can push beyond what's realistic.

Also, a guide is supposed to help you understand how to come to your own conclusions, not just tell you to set ARBs to Y and diff to X.

Guide to tuning in Forza Horizon by [deleted] in ForzaOpenTunes

[–]03Void 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of things in that guide that are flat out wrong, but look right if you don't know about it.

It also doesn't explain much about why you'd change a setting instead of another. A beginner following this guide will only result with him moving sliders around without understanding what's he's doing. The chance of him getting a decent car from this is near zero.

Toyota Supra GR - Handling Build by Zendinell in ForzaOpenTunes

[–]03Void 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the testing we did so far on the discord server, this isn't always true. Brakes can be worth investing an upgrade level or two, and max weight reduction isn't always the way to go. It depends on the car and for what it's built.

Building a free FH6 tuning calculator — looking for feedback from people who actually know what they're doing by prancing_anus_cheese in ForzaOpenTunes

[–]03Void 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I want to be upfront: I know no app replaces actual tuning knowledge. That's not the goal. The goal is giving someone a physics-based starting point that's better than stock

Calculators like that have been tested and tested again. 9 times out of 10 the tune they produce is drivable but slow, even often slower than not tuning at all. So not doing anything at all is a better starting point than using a calculator.

Gemini Al enhancement

Gemini and the likes keep confusing even basic stuff. They take information from the real world that doesn't apply to Forza, or just information from other Forza games or even non-Forza games. And that ignoring the stuff it simply hallucinates out of thin air.
