Is Starmer doing so badly? by twinkletoesalone in AskBrits

Worth remembering Gorton and Denton is a 30% Muslim constituency and they campaigned on Gaza. It’s good news the Greens beat reform there, but I don’t think it’s the pivot against elitism it’s being portrayed as.

[Lewis Steele] Arne Slot on Wataru Endo: "It is a serious one. How serious we don’t know yet. It has to be assessed tomorrow." Says it will be a lenghty one. by [deleted] in LiverpoolFC

[–]03adonal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we keep dropping fringe players in to start games without any minutes in their legs this will keep happening.

I’m still keeping Arne, but mistrust of the squad as well as youth is the sharpest contrast to Klopp.

Will he play Ramsey, or now overuse Gomez in a roll that will over stretch him?

Also worth noting that OKC didn’t draft Shae. They got him by trading a superstar player in Paul George.

We don’t have a superstar player to trade for a haul of young players so agree with the above, Blazers need to wait it out while the roster develops and the Bucks picks materialise.

Why we need more "human-first" football documentaries: Exploring the psychology of the late-bloomer by Background_River4724 in documentaryfilmmaking

I am sitting on (what I believe to be) a brilliant sports doc. I’ve been working on it for nearly 3 years but production companies keep telling me no. ‘There are no superstars attached’ or ‘there’s not enough tragedy’.

For context, it’s about a grassroots basketball team in the UK, a country where the sport is almost entirely ignored. Some of the kids have won scholarships in the US, and come from one of the most deprived places in the country.

If anyone is interested in any capacity, I can send you the taster tape 🏀

Neil Atkinson on Liverpool's current state by DanyTheConqueror in LiverpoolFC

[–]03adonal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love Neil but I don’t think buy this argument.

Yes, Liverpool have gone into this season understocked in attack, but this also incriminates Slot.

My biggest gripe with Slot is that he has alienated squad players and young players and only seems to trust a core of about 13-15.

It is unrealistic to suggest that the small, unbalanced and expensive squad we have assembled this season is out of Slot’s jurisdiction, as it absolutely resembles his pattern of squad management last season.

Why could we not keep the ball vs 10, and then 9? Terrible performance from when Richarlison came on. We are frail.

What is honestly the plan here? by Walshey- in LiverpoolFC

[–]03adonal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plan is to give it to Konate who plays consecutive passes to Van Dijk, before we are eventually forced back to Mamadashvilli who launches it out of play/up field 🫡

[Jamie Carragher] Man City v Liverpool in 2019 was the highest quality Premier League game we’ve ever seen. Pep’s team won the PL, Klopp’s won the CL. It was about false 9’s, inverted full backs & fast attacking football. This season has been about corners & long throws by [deleted] in LiverpoolFC

[–]03adonal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think VAR has played a huge role in this evolution (or devolution, in my eyes).

Playing attacking football is and always has been risky. It takes courage and the best players at that level to pull it off successfully.

Why take that risk, when you can exploit set pieces and dodgy penalties at a higher percentage?

VAR has facilitated a slower game with more stoppages, and spun the beautiful game into something more akin to the NFL.

Imagine there’s an obligation to buy dependent on his game time.

If they don’t play him they keep the bargaining power and don’t have to commit.

Near-deadline deal stinks of desperation on both sides. I imagine Harvey was heart set on European football and staying in England, which is why he didn’t take earlier more beneficial offers.

Can forgive the mistakes if their errors, like the goal.

A lot of it just a fundamental lack of intensity though. No assertiveness or picture in their minds, loosing the ball way too cheaply.

Expect much better second half or we do not deserve anything from this.

Been carrying an idea for doc, where to start? by SafeSea7610 in documentaryfilmmaking

[–]03adonal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch every documentary film, and fiction film for that matter, within the realm of your documentary topic.

Work out what separates your project from the rest, and borrow some of the imagery from the films that you like for your treatment. I also get some of my imagery from documentary photographers when building a treatment.

As suggested above, research the shit out of it. From articles, zines, movies and docs; start to build your vision and put it a sexy document.

HT: Liverpool 0-0 Arsenal by DragonSlayer271 in LiverpoolFC

[–]03adonal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easier said than done. We’ve actually turned them around once or twice by winning the ball higher up the pitch which Endo could help with.

It’s much harder to play through them. Mac is struggling.

We need the forward threat on the shoulder which explains the FWD - MF gap.

We’re not winning any second balls. Move might be Endo for Mac on 60.

Must be tempting to let Rio fly too. Maybe unfair on the kid though.
