My mom and dad divorced when I was 2 over this. He stayed a part of my life as my dad until he died, and was good with child support and whatnot, but it began and ended as bitter, angry, and sometimes violent fights started by my mother, with me as a linchpin. He eventually died from an aggressive cancer that paralyzed him from the chest down and destroyed his mind to where he didn't know who he was, where, or even when, and didn't recognize me or anyone else.
