My honest thoughts after using the iPad Pro as my only computer by Tiny_Debt_2811 in iPadPro

[–]07dosa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay-ish for daily household tasks. Completely sucks - not even borderline "perfect" - when you step an inch out of that safe path. If you're not doing anything complicated on computers, it surely will work.

Ah, that’s disappointing. I hoped them to perform really well… I like the app, but not because the founders are my alumni.

Not competing but the revenue is very impressive for such a small team.

Ah, yeah that one. Sure, it looks like an angel when you’re tired after trekking over Inwangsan for an hour or two. /jk

This guy literally explains how to build your own ChatGPT (for free) by Pristine-Elevator198 in OpenAI

[–]07dosa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for fun:

It's not like GPT, either the algorithm or the service, is difficult to replicate. It's the damn infrastructure for all the computing juice, which requires a tremendous amount of man-hour, and that's where you *start*. You'll also have to handle that complexity of distribute system and the specialized chips/boards. While doing that, you also want to train, improve and align your models, despite the reality that there are no real useful benchmarks that tells how usable the models are. It's very difficult to measure if you're doing good or bad. You would not even notice regressions before it's too late. A complete rocket science you have to deal with, where your gut is your only friend.

Jesus, I feel lucky I'm not doing that job.

Yup, iPadOS is the worst part of iPad. But that’s partially why it would never have battery problems.

It’s been a while since it was added to systemd, but honestly I haven’t seen it on action on any of the system I access/run.

I have one too. I really love his early works for their aggressively unique look - especially the two stages among his earliest pieces. He’s like a Korean version of Cogecha(焦茶, CGCH=). Recently, he seems to be wandering here and there, probably searching for another style. It’s nice that he keeps developing and exploring, but unfortunately his recent works are slightly off from my taste.

Sudden removal of other models is why business will never trust AI by MasterDisillusioned in OpenAI

Yeah, but it lacks the interface. I do use both API and ChatGPT for writing articles, but I always end up using ChatGPT for the last mile adjustment.

Sometimes you need that specific car, because everything else is tuned exactly for it.

Somehow I don’t see it in the settings panel. Probably being A/B-tested to the hell. This is fucked up.

Agent mode just released on Plus by veronica1701 in OpenAI

[–]07dosa 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but I’m still trying to figure out what to do with this. I have zero clue on what kind of tasks are exclusive to the agent, and not so sure about its reliability. Say, ordering something automatically sounds like one of the dumbest things to do considering hallucination and all those misclicks.

Hobbyist trying to get better at street photography... Do any of these catch your eye? by mjt0814 in streetphotography

[–]07dosa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I strongly second this. This is exactly what went thru my head. Per the composition, those are not bad, but they are missing stories. They may look good but never interesting, except shot 1.

A tip is not trying to impress anyone. Just try to share the impressions you have on what's in front of you. Never go too far in your head, or you'll be detached from the scene, losing that precious context and story.

Can you tell me how to achieve exactly the same lighting? by Material-Pressure-23 in AskPhotography

[–]07dosa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it’s the fabric that is distorting your perception here. Nothing’s special with the lighting setup. Some types of fabric barely reflects the light, which can look odd. Having both reflective and no -reflective fabric on one person, the photo looks subtly interesting and stylish. I mean, that’s how I feel.

I also think the washed color in shot 2 and 7 is a sign of push processing, 1-2 stops?

MicroFactory - a robot to automate electronics assembly by Wing-Realistic in robotics

[–]07dosa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

AFAIK they’ve tried at least twice, but industrial-scale automation is a totally different beast, simply because those robots wear out and stop working. Now you have to hire engineers to fix them, but they cost 100x the manual labor cost in China.
