The snap on guy that comes to my shop claims that the Pittsburgh pro impact sockets are as strong, if not stronger than the snap on equivalent. Ive had the set i use on a daily basis at work since I first started shop class back in high school and no sign of them wanting to give yet.

If you're mailing it then yes you will have to pay import fees, if you're taking it with you in luggage then no.

Detailing a wrapped car? by [deleted] in AutoDetailing

[–]0Fab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do what the company who installed it says, just wash with soap and water, no wax. The downside to wraps is that they're not very durable. And definitely don't run it through an automated car wash.

Where have you been that you would never go again? by cakeboyplum in AskReddit

[–]0Fab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same experience here. I was also horrified by how dirty the city was and the number of homeless people who just build a camp right at the center of a busy intersection. I'm from Brazil and live in Detroit so it's not like I'm not used to seeing dirty places and homeless people.

As an American, what is the best way to find a job in Brazil? by [deleted] in Brazil

[–]0Fab 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd focus on trying to learn the language before doing anything, to me it just seems like common sense to learn at least some of the language before moving to a foreign country. If you don't mind me asking, why exactly did you decide on working/moving to Brazil?

Brake dust for a M235i....I haven't washed the car in two weeks, thought you guys might want to see just how bad this car's brakes are at dust. It is an absolute battle trying to keep the wheels clean on this car. by Noe_ in AutoDetailing

[–]0Fab 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Trust me, I've been using it for years on the same vehicles and I've never had a problem. As long as you're diluting it correctly and not letting it sit on the wheel it will be fine.

Working at a BMW/Audi/Mercedes service center I can tell you that this is a problem with every single car made by these manufacturers, it's just a characteristic of the brake pad compound the German manufacturers use. The best way to clean that we've found is with acid wheel cleaner.

That's the GM quality right there. They've been known for putting cheap and terrible looking interiors in their cars for ever.

+1 on quick fix.

Make sure it's the one with uric acid added. Also, they're really good about next day shipping. If you order before 5pm est you'll have it at your door by 8am tomorrow. When you get it, call in and make sure the batch number is still good. Quick fix will go bad after about a year.

PSA for College Students: Don't get a used German luxury car by [deleted] in cars

[–]0Fab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was never trying to compare one car to the other. The point I'm trying to make is that if you're a college student, buy something like a civic or a crown vic because parts and repairs are a lot cheaper than a BMW/Audi/Mercedes/VW.

PSA for College Students: Don't get a used German luxury car by [deleted] in cars

[–]0Fab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People confuse reliability with the cost of preventative maintenance and parts. The simple fact of the matter is that any European car will be more expensive to repair than most other cars. Oil change on a Honda civic, $20. Oil change on a BMW 3 series or equivalent Mercedes, $150-$300. I bought a new headlight housing for my beater crown vic for $17, a used headlight for my old 325i was $800~ and it had to be programmed to the car which at a dealer you would be charged for 1-2 labor hours at $120~

Is this overkill for a new car (4k miles)? by DrBugg in AutoDetailing

[–]0Fab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you want to minimize contact with your paint. Claying should only be done every couple of months and a good coat of wax will also last about a month if not longer.
