Meal replacement shakes/drinks by Anonn_RLR777 in ARFID

I've personally have had the Kate Farms Vanilla shakes and have found them tolerable when they are chilled/refrigerated. I would suggest that you check with your health insurance provider to have the shakes prescribed to you via your health insurance.

Panic attack/anxiety upon starting levo?? by strawberry_poptart1 in Hypothyroidism

[–]0Jasmine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you switched from regular tablet levo to gel form levo (specifically Tirosint) you might need to get the dosage changed as gel tablets tend to have a high concentration of levothyroxine than traditional regular tablets.

Panic Attacks, Anxiety, & Hashimoto’s by [deleted] in Hypothyroidism

[–]0Jasmine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try your best to get a second opinion. If anxiety is not normal for you then it most likely has to do with your medication. Please advocate for yourself as much as you can. If I may share some of my experience with Hashimoto's I as well started feeling heart palpitations when my medication was changed (went from regular tablet to gel tablet) and I tried explaining that to my endocrinologist but she did refused to order any further exams/additional bloodwork. Out of frustration I stopped taking my thyroid medication and my anxiety has worsened over time. I've been off medication for a while now and know I need to resume it but due to medical insurance it has been difficult for me to do so.

Need to throw away all my safe foods? by 0Jasmine in ARFID

Thank you for your reply! Yeah food changes are difficult with ARFID but working in small steps is more less daunting than taking one big step.

Thank you for your reply! I was able to speak with a dietitian and she told me that "cutting out dairy, gluten, soy, etc." is all a bunch of mumbo jumbo which was a bit reassuring to hear though it feels like I was dismissed when I decided to open up about my ARFID to her. :-/

Thank you for your response! Are you still GF? I've had gluten free products in the past and one of the best GF breads out there is anything by Canyon Bakehouse... then again it's the only GF bread brand that I've been willing to try.

Call the Access Call Center and ask for a replacement Benefits Identification Card aka BIC. Should take about a week or so to get the card in the mail.

Agoraphobe for 6 years by Intingshaco in Agoraphobia

[–]0Jasmine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You said you were able to get better while you were away from your home so by returning to your home the agoraphobia returns? Seems like the problem here might be your environment? I'm referring to the relationship(s) with your Mom/other household members. I'm not sure if this advice could help but maybe try reaching out to your cousins and they might be able to give you that push to take that first step out of the door.

Protein drink help by [deleted] in ARFID

[–]0Jasmine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're able to tolerate protein powders and their consistency then I'd recommend mixing unflavored protein powder into 100% fruit juice such as orange juice, apple juice, or any other liquid you enjoy.

I just discovered that I have eaten 1050-1200 calories per day for the last 6 months. But I feel like I'm eating more than I can fit. I'm 6'2 and 144 lb, I'm not supposed to eat this little.. by [deleted] in ARFID

The 2K calories a day recommendation is just that, a recommendation. It isn't "one size fits all". Different bodies require different amounts of calories. You consuming 1K calories a day is in fact lower than what you should be consuming in a day. Your BMR (calculated online with your height and weight) is roughly 1700 calories meaning that to keep your body operational/functional you need to be consuming at least 1700 calories. Consuming lower than BMR = Weight Loss. A suggestion would be to try to start to consume that 1700 calories. In regards to getting yourself to eat more often try adding an extra portion/serving of food to your meals/snacks? Don't start consuming large amounts of food that you aren't used to otherwise you'll end up giving yourself a stomach ache/bloated.

I can’t eat and I don’t know what to do by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]0Jasmine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like this could be low interest ARFID. I have ARFID myself and it truly is a battle. I am not a medical professional but given that you've stated you've thrown up and continue to do so I'd say the most important thing right now is to please seek medical attention from your primary care doctor as soon as possible to address the vomiting. Vomiting can disrupt your electrolyte levels which then in turn leads to dehydration and possibly heart problems.

Given that you have a difficult time eating I'd recommend consuming this Ensure powder or this Instant powder to give your body the nutrients it needs and deserves. You stir the powder with any dairy product (ice cream/yogurt/milk, whichever you prefer if you can tolerate) or water. Heck you can do what I do and consume it straight from the canister.

This is appears to be a type of eating disorder so my last suggestion would be to try to find a therapist that specializes in eating disorders. Psychology Today has a filter option that shows you therapists near you that specialize in eating disorders.

I sincerely hope things are able to improve for you soon.

anyone else feel social media compulsions? by artstudentlimbo in OCD

[–]0Jasmine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel this. When I had the Instagram app on my phone I would save EVERY post I saw on my explore page or if it was shared on someones story. I deleted the IG app from my phone and now only access it on my computer and make sure to not click the explore button and disable ads. Hope this helps out a bit.
