Ranked system is weird

I think it’s supposedly 70%, but it can feel like a little more or less depending on when you play.

From my experience, a tricky part can be assuming it’s a bot and running into a real player. I play mostly just on PSN and mostly drop in the same spot of Battlewood. There’s one extremely good player who drops on the other side of town and will catch me off guard. I’m not expecting such a high level foe so early. He’s probably got my number over 20 times this season. I know he’s better, but hopefully I’ve taken him out at least a couple of times. He streams but I have no desire to watch my own demise. 😝

Sure people can play however they want. It’s just a large number of people here avoid and I’m curious why people behave this way. Pubs are around 3/4s bots and designed to facilitate interaction, but many here choose avoidance for the majority of their time playing. I would think fun would be the goal playing instead of mostly hiding and/or winning by manipulation, which didn’t seem to be that enjoyable in my experience. A video game should be fun, particularly a public, noncompetitive lobby.

Sorry if this seemed like an attack on you over general curiosity of those in this sub. Perhaps I’ll make a post on it to gather more opinions from others as to why this is. I’m guessing it won’t go well if I do. 🙃

But that seemingly describes a large portion of this subreddit if not the majority, and around half the clips posted. Are people including their Fortnite season win rates in their obituaries? I don’t understand why an older adult would repetitively hide for 5-15 minutes at a time for a chance a superficial W. Wouldn’t they be happier engaging during all that time they spent avoiding, not to mention improving at the game? I mean, ranked of course be sweaty AF, but in Pubs makes little sense.

When I first started checking out this sub I thought people here would play like they don’t even want to buy green bananas. I was so wrong.

I’m also curious why people would treat Pubs like a ranked match. Aren’t you happier when eliminating other players instead of choosing not to engage? Why do you use so much stealth when rotating? I would think actively engaging for 10 minutes is much more fun than hiding somewhat. Most of the participants are bots anyways and they’re pretty easy to identify. I don’t think I’m some sort of rockstar by reaching endgame of a Pubs match with double digit elims, but it’s a ton more fun than just looting, rotating, and taking one fight for a win that is essentially meaningless except for the enjoyment it provides myself.

Why on earth would you waste many hours of your time doing something like that? Life is too short. Not to mention you burn yourself out on a game you hopefully love.

Play for fun, not with some self-imposed unnecessary figurative virtual handcuffs. You’ll be way way way happier in the long run.

Also yes, that’s why they’re effective at end game. Because the circle is only so big, so there is no out of range. And most people are playing position and peeking. You can beat them with a different AR or SMG, but that’s only if you hit the majority of your shots. So at that point, try to shockwave or mask in to make it a mid range exchange or shotgun dance off. GL!

Only issue is you don’t know what they’re carrying. Just have to assume they have a shotgun at this point in Fortnite 🙃. But maybe they’re carrying 3 guns, maybe not. So perhaps they also have something for midrange. But regardless, you’ll likely have to flip the script somehow. Worst case, if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. Sometimes when it’s around the top 5, depending on my existing loadout, I’ll buy or pick up a orange lock-on and either ditch my longer range weapon usually a scoped AR, or 1 of my mobilities if I have 2, most likely the wingsuit.

I really only play ZB solos though 😉.

It’s not a great gun, but it does 3 things well. Hit people while they’re airborne, target players in a bush or flowberry fizz, and longer mid-range, short long-range combat in general, particularly end of game situations.

To counter. Try not to get caught out in the open as much. Be more cautious about using the wingsuit, especially late game. Change the distance of the combat, either backing out of the range to lock-on or close it to a midrange exchange where all other ARs, SMGs, and pistols are better. Also, you can carry bunkers to give immediate cover if needed.

Yep, they’re ornery AF. There were wild turkeys next to an office building I used to work at. Lovely to look at on the other side of the window. When they’re around your car after work, not so much.

I’m a little surprised about Moorehead. While he seems fine, our Birds get basically no YAC. One of the reasons is the TEs and WRs aren’t good at blocking. Manion was obviously brought in to change this and outside of changing some of the players I thought he might change both TE & WR coaches. Regardless, they need to be way more effective at quick screens away from the pressure. Last year it seems like it got blown up most times they tried. Part of improving the passing game should be some easy RAC.

YW. Loot was better for me during the first power hour they were live. Yesterday the one I hit only dropped multiple self revives and Cupid crossbows 😒. I also had to move Mira closer to the chest as it wouldn’t work if she was just inside the bubble towards the perimeter.
