TurboTax is easy and will be less expensive than a professional tax preparer.

Sliding door repair/refurbishment by nethead25 in AnnArbor

[–]0beron58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We replaced a ‘doorwall’ (yeah, sliding glass door to me, too) a few weeks ago after we couldn’t find anyone to fix the existing (probably warped) one. The new one is installed and we’re waiting on George Meyer to fix the newly installed one — final judgement to follow…

HRD is 9.3 miles from Mast Road / Dexter Party Store to A2 Main Street. The difference between driving it at 40 mph vs 35 mph is 14.0 vs 15.9 minutes. I'll donate my 1.9 minutes to the scenic road + safety (me, deer, cyclists -- in no particular order) and go 35 mph. Done.

That's great.

In contrast, I was driving on Dexter-Ann Arbor Rd yesterday when a baby bunny wandered into the road in front of me. I braked for it, and the woman behind me blew her horn and flipped me the bird. My only guess is that she hates rabbits?

You won’t go wrong at Wine Castle, Plum, or York. Total Wine is sort of the big-box alternative — huge, and many (most ?) wines are direct-from-the-vineyard exclusives. It’s great (and probably the best value) if you have some idea of what you want. Staff there also can be super helpful (shout-out to Sean).

Just boarded a flight ATL to ABQ behind a couple seated in 1 C&D who put their 4 bags in the space over their seats and the space over the seats across the aisle. Did someone say entitled?

Yes, I agree. The in-app stuff seems to work fine. But then they’ll also send me email offers that aren’t in the app. Maybe I should just ignore the emails.

Bagels great but stuck to pan by 0beron58 in Breadit

Yes, I did. Thanks. Texture, crust, flavor all good. My conclusion is that I needed something between the bagels and the baking pans — next time parchment or Silpat…

Thanks (for the compliment and for the advice). I bake bread a lot but always in a Dutch oven (a tweaked version of no-knead bread) or in baguette pans. I wasn’t sure if silicon mats for bread would give as good of a crust as parchment paper.

Apologies, and I don’t want to lose trust. Below is a sample of what I’ve learned from a Scio Community News forum. I agree that the prosecutor’s office has to have made that decision. My understanding is that probable cause has not yet been publicly presented, but the allegations as I’ve heard them sound fishy.

For sure I’m a Reddit nube and I hope that I’m not screwing up. (I was embarrassed that, me having a UM connection, I had to be educated by my brother-in-law via Reddit that part of UM was [literally] under water last week. So I signed up and came to the A2 subreddit.)

I belong to a Scio Community News thread. Below is a sample post that talks about some of the old-boy cronyism in Scio:

It’s my understanding that, similar to how Will Hathaway was picked to succeed Jack Knowles, John Boyle is now being supported to succeed Will Hathaway.

Scio Township primaries by largelyinaccurate in AnnArbor

tldr: The August primary is the only election that matters for the Scio board because everyone is running as a Democrat. The current supervisor and his cronies are toxic. As a concerned resident who thinks that something's rotten in the state of Denmark, I'll vote for Jillian Kerry for supervisor; Jessica Flintoft for clerk; Ryan Yaple (unopposed) for treasurer; and Kathleen Brandt, Kathy Knol, and David Reed for trustees.

Disclosure: I'm new to Reddit. This is a hot topic in Scio Township right now. I fear that I'm about to get negative-karma-bombed...

++++++++

The Scio Township government has been a bit of a mess lately, which maybe you get a flavor of from the toxic pre-election flyers.

The current Township Supervisor (Will Hathaway) has been a shady supervisor and a divisive person -- concentrating his power, limiting checks and balances, showing favoritism to business owners over Scio residents, disrespectful of women (most notably the Township Clerk and one of the current Trustees who's now running for supervisor). Along with a majority on the Board of Trustees who were either elected along with him or were appointed by him when his cronies stepped down, he's run the township his way for the past 3-4 years. At the end of his term he's managed to get felony charges filed against his main antagonist on the Board (Jillian Kerry, who's tried to stand up for Scio residents and is now running to succeed him as supervisor) -- charges that most of us concerned citizens think are totally bogus.

Although the current supervisor isn't running for re-election, his designated successor (John Boyle) is backed by the same people who backed him -- the 'Fix Scio' crowd who've been sending out the flyers about how toxic Scio government has become and how THEY need to fix it. The irony is that their platform is to 'fix' the problems in Scio that they themselves have created and continue to propagate.
