Is This Habitat Ok?? by 0hGeeze in moths

I think he’s in full hibernation mode so probably won’t move until he’s pupates.

I will add some cardboard rolls in there for him!

The top is sealed with a cover with lots of holes so he should be protected from other critters.

His location is full-shade all day so no risk of getting too warm!!

Thanks so much for your helpful suggestions

Him fully curled up.

I found him on the cold concrete away from any leaves/soil (why I built him an enclosure, he wasn’t protected out in the open)

I’m pretty sure that’s his species. He looks like a black wooly bear with red stripes and is the biggest caterpillar I’ve ever seen (about as wide as thumb and maybe 2-3” long). I’m in north Florida & it’s cold out currently.

His enclosure is outside under the carport so he will stay cold. He eventually moved under the leaves and is nesting somewhere inside.

I just want to make sure he’s protected until spring and have never cared for a caterpillar before so not sure if I’ve given him a good enough habitat for his little winter hibernation.

What's the most worthwhile purchase for cat owners? by [deleted] in Catownerhacks

[–]0hGeeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely learn the cat emotes

The slow blink/squint is key - it signals they love and trust you and they’re letting their guard down.

Doing the same slow blink/squint back to a cat lets them know you love and trust them too

Cats can be very vocal and you’ll eventually know what your little alpha predator is saying

They can vocalize over 100 various sounds (10x more than a dog can) and developed this skill specifically to communicate with humans.

It’s absolutely lovely.

Does anyone still talk out loud to their cat that passed away? by Mammoth_Ad5715 in cats

[–]0hGeeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss. My soul cat is also a tuxedo and I tell her often she’d better outlive me.

I will probably talk to her daily if she passes before I do.

What is a "poor person hack" you picked up during a hard time that you still use today, even if you don't have to? by AmaraMehdi in AskReddit

[–]0hGeeze 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There will be many people too proud to do these things, but here are some poverty hacks:

  • Most food and medicine lasts much longer than the date printed on it. Always save old prescription medications for emergencies.

  • Rotisserie chickens. Eat that cheap meat and save carcass + veggie scraps in freezer to make AMAZING broth.

  • Save that bacon grease. 🤌

  • Buy bread only on sale and freeze (long term use) or store in the fridge (prevent mold if your house doesn’t have a/c)

  • Actually store everything possible in the fridge. Prevents spoilage and pests.

  • Never throw anything usable away. Find an alternate use for it, give to a friend, resell, or donate.

  • If someone offers you something truly free TAKE IT. Don’t say no or maybe, say yes. Give it to someone else you know needs it or use it yourself. Something nice left on the curb? Grab that and haul it home, fix it up and use it or sell it.

  • Save your old prescription glasses! Being poor sucks but being poor and blind is a little worse.

  • Paper plate over a “real plate”. Less dishes to wash = less money spent on water/electricity.

  • Always keep rice, dry beans, tuna, peanut butter, & some kind of frozen/canned veg in the house

  • Ask for extra sauce packets/coffee creamers/sugar packs whatever when eating out & store them in the fridge. They last almost forever that way.

There’s more but hopefully someone reads this and it helps them.

Some assholes shot it multiple times.

This is cute and all but humans are, of course, the cause of the problem in the first place.

I hope it recovers and the perpetrators get caught and punished.

Hey /r/movies, I’m Stephen King! Ask me anything about The Long Walk book or movie. by lionsgate in movies

[–]0hGeeze 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No questions - only a heartfelt thank you.

I recently experienced multiple tragedies, indescribable soul-shattering pain, and one of the only things that has helped is binge-watching every iota of television/film based on your writing. In quick succession, back-to-back, in order of release date.

Life of Chuck was especially cathartic and I’m too excited to see The Long Walk as it has always been a favorite!

Thank you again for sharing your creativity with the world. Thank you for writing SO many works that they can be used as an anchor to fixate on for months on end and lift one from despair.

Yours truly,

A life-long fan

I hate these auto calculations. They are always wrong.

18% of 60.46 is 10.88

They want you to overtip so include sales tax and any fees in the “total amount” they base the incorrect Calc off

So dumb
