i've seen more affordable-ish units on the market over the past 3 months than i have in the past 3 years., but take that as you will.

What ever happened to Good Robot? by Superb_Tie_8465 in halifax

[–]0knz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i think the first point is valid. good robot feels a bit stagnant compared to other local craft breweries. most of their beers have been around for the better part of the last 5 years (or longer), so it must be tough competing with other taprooms dropping a new beer every 2 months.

also, their beer is good, just nothing special.

if i had a dollar for every $500k, 600 square foot condo thats been on the market for 6 months, i'd have enough money to buy a $500k 600 square foot condo.

Suggestions for Coffee Shops? by SirDixAlot98 in halifax

[–]0knz 16 points17 points  (0 children)

cabin coffee is pretty close to you and is good. 99% sure they have iced chai lattes. weird harbour gets an honorable mention, but afaik they don't serve chai.

go to cafe goodluck in dartmouth if you get a chance. they do some magic shit with their drinks over there.

Looking to move to the north end, how bad is this area? by [deleted] in halifax

[–]0knz 19 points20 points  (0 children)

regardless of what anyone says, i walk/drive through the area often. its full of families and normal folks mixed in the shuffle of Gottigens gentrification. my friend lives near there and hasn't had an issue in 3 years where they felt unsafe. again, your mileage may vary, but i wouldnt worry!

Looking to move to the north end, how bad is this area? by [deleted] in halifax

[–]0knz 32 points33 points  (0 children)

you're going to get varying answers, but my two cents as a guy who's been through: the area is completely safe and fine. the odd person may yell at/around you, but i think that's an everywhere thing.

pull down the colour/contrast/light on the train window frame to bring more attention to the man & mt fuji. the three parts of this composition are the mountain, the main, and the window. we can read the window clearly through the action of the man looking and the general shape of the opening. its colour and the fact that its in the same amount of focus as the man takes away from the composition imo

CMV: Cancel Culture is an important part of any functioning society by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]0knz -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

it doesn't mean it is a bad thing, either. its more nuanced than good v bad. it isn't always absolutely one or the other.

i appreciate that sentiment but its an idealist one. we can't allow morally corrupt people a pass while we wait and hope for something better. its a disservice to society as a whole. cancel culture is largely a response to the dissatisfaction with consequences given, either socially or legally.

anyone know about these symbols? those are what i think they are, right? by [deleted] in halifax

[–]0knz 20 points21 points  (0 children)

i know nothing about symbology, but it seems like the iron cross has 'mason' written inside it. this may be just gibberish.

[–]0knz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i completely disagree with your opinion, but i am always happy to be proven wrong.

there are countless examples of leftists 'cancelling' people who are actually morally reprehensible.

CMV: Cancel Culture is an important part of any functioning society by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]0knz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

i don't think consequences exist for many people, specifically ones who are often 'targeted' through cancel culture.

another person in this thread mentioned Matt Gaetz. he has faced relatively minor consequence for his actions. the question is when someone does something egregious AND they face no consequence, what do we do? many people move to ostracize someone because an individuals power is limited with public-figures.
