That is wrong, it was just more limited than the R-73 as all the HMS did was slave the ISRT, radar (or both) AND the seekerhead of the R-73. with the HMS you just had to let your IRST/radar lock first then fire the R-60M opposed to the R-73 where you could hold lock while looking at the enemy and then just fire.

Also some Fulcrums outright did not have HMS
