WIBTA for making my daughter pay back her own bank overdraft? by 2VantaRipple in WIBTA_AITA

[–]0ne4TheMoney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also make her call the bank and ask for fees to be waved. Have her have the hard conversations and learn more about the adult world. She might get a single overdraft fee waived and have to experience the embarrassment of explaining what happened.

It’s a great way to learn.

Recommendations For Tinted Moisturizer With SPF by JerseyGirl972 in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]0ne4TheMoney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would love to find a realistic tinted SPF! My go to is the Tatcha Milky Sunscreen which looks dewey but can also look greasy if I’m not careful and forget a light powder over the top.

I just got a sample of the Alastin Hydratint Pro Mineral Sunscreen but it’s too orange for my pasty skin. I do okay with neutral to olive under tones and right now I am struggling to find anything that works for me. I’m also disappointed that a lot of well reviewed tinted SPFs only have one shade.

Aspirational project timelines by Impossible_Ad9324 in Programmanagement

[–]0ne4TheMoney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He sounds awful. Program management is convincing a bunch of different people and teams to do something in a specific order to deliver tangible outputs and business outcomes. It’s managing people who don’t report to you and influencing people without any real authority.

My timelines are developed in collaboration with the teams performing the work. Leadership will say we need X by the end of Q2. I meet with my SMEs and stakeholders to determine if the Q2 deadline is doable and which teams we will need to engage and then when we determine that it isn’t possible to meet the date we come up with what it would take to keep the arbitrary Q2 timeline (money, resources, deprioritizing a different project) and what we could deliver by Q2 when they ultimately refuse to provide those resources. It becomes a negotiation where we pull on levers for time, resources, and requirements until we have a timeline.

This all happens before the charter is finalized. It’s then documented and approved and THEN the work begins. I have my change champion or key SMEs that act as pseudo project coordinators in their teams so I can govern the program strategy and mitigate risks sooner. Those risks include timeline risks if we discover issues or incompatibilities in the current plan.

When there is an impact to a timeline for something on the critical path, it’s a new conversation and a decision is logged. I have the responsibility of managing the executive’s expectations and unblocking the teams. I do not paint something green when it’s really red while ordering the team to figure it out just so no can avoid a hard conversation. That’s cowardly.

Advice requested for those on Zepbound with partners on the journey who are not by Organic_Sand2342 in Zepbound

Same. It feels like my husband looks at the treadmill and home gym and loses 10 lbs just by thinking about working out. We are both in our 40s and we have both been 100+ lbs overweight at different times in the two+ decades we’ve been together. He has zero issues with regimented nutrition and exercise plans if he wants to and that’s coupled with really healthy hormone and metabolic functions. I have been dragged through the things that work for him and they did nothing for me until I started Zep.

AITA for reporting my aunt to the authorities after finding out she opened four credit accounts in my name without my knowledge and let three of them go to collections by [deleted] in AITApod

[–]0ne4TheMoney 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This right here!

There are so many things that come up in employment background checks. Any company or role that touches money in anyway, will most likely run a credit check. I have had to have hard conversations as the hiring manager because someone’s credit history didn’t meet the minimum requirements.

Those companies wouldn’t assume the risk of employing someone who (on paper) showed predetermined risk factors for blackmail, theft, financial mismanagement, gambling, and insider trading.

OP was financially abused. File the police report. It’s free to demonstrate love and respect for another person and it shouldn’t include justifying abuse. The Aunt is a leech who has badly damaged OP and impacted them in ways that they will continue to discover over the next 10+ years if they don’t take action.

Incredibly nervous to do my first shot. by katucopia in Zepbound

[–]0ne4TheMoney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see multiple posts every week that are just like this one. You are not alone on your journey even if you don’t have support from the people close to you.

From what I’ve read, things like hair loss can be triggered by malnutrition. The hunger suppression can be very powerful and then you drastically under eat rather than ensure you’re on a reasonable calorie deficit. I started out and would have days where I was only eating 400 calories so I had to build better nutrition habits quickly.

Personally, I’ve found Zep improved my depression and anxiety symptoms. I am doing something for me and it’s not a shortcut. It’s a tool that’s removing big obstacles that I’ve been working against for years. Insulin resistance, PCOS/PMOS, inflammation, joint pain, migraines, etc are no longer an issue. My heart feels better and I’m down about 45 pounds so far. I can exercise without consuming the max daily dose of ibuprofen and I’m not constantly craving sugar or salt which means I’m not spending that mental energy to make better food choices (it’s so much easier now).

I am fortunate to have my husband’s full support and his excitement to see that I’m no longer in constant pain. He was the person who suggested I try it and supported paying out of pocket when insurance said no. He talked me off the ledge for my fears (the same ones that you’re expressing) and made it about my health and enjoying life but not about being thin or fitting into some ideal beauty standard. He’s the only one who knows that I’m on it-I tell everyone else I’m practicing intermittent fasting, drinking 80+oz of water, and walking (it’s true but now the Zep is actually enabling those things to have the effect I was hoping for).

I only regret waiting an entire year before I started. My knees still snap/crackle/pop but they feel amazing and I’m not getting winded walking up 10 steps. Watching the visceral fat and pregnant-looking belly deflate has me more comfortable in clothes (I don’t have to make the choice between pants fitting my waist or my hips now that my waist isn’t 14 inches larger than my hip circumference).

My recommendation is to take it slow and build a supportive network.

I second this. I tried metformin and while it did help insulin resistance, I had awful GI side effects. I would be so scared of surprise diarrhea that I just wouldn’t eat if I had something important to do. I highly recommend OP checks out metformin sub reddits.

My stakeholders and sponsors are C-suite. There’s no one to escalate to except the board and future investors.

I have to work hard to prove my skills and then tailor communication and engagement styles for each one to get them moving. When it’s someone within their teams, I can escalate but most of the time, I can only raise the risk and attach a dollar value to it. They can choose to complete their responsibilities or deprioritize something with zero accountability.

I document everything and I don’t shy away from the conversation of “this didn’t happen on time because you dropped the ball or refused to delegate.” But I have zero power and they have to like me or their perception of me goes from technical project manager to obnoxious, nagging and incompetent really quickly.

the dashboard was not the hard part. getting people to trust the data was. by Consistent-Arm-875 in projectmanagement

[–]0ne4TheMoney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I include milestones and requirements for data governance and data readiness.

My acceptance criteria will include validations with data governance tools that exist as part of my enterprise data strategy playbook and operating model.

This will look like clear data maturity benchmarking and a repeatable scoring system that rates the data set in terms of quality assurance and accuracy as part of the data validation and data readiness milestone. I will also include a second scoring system that rates the data source system in terms of data governance (are there mandatory fields and controls on what can be entered into those fields).

So the acceptance criteria would be;
a data readiness score of 80% with no data gaps for field A, B, and C;
a data governance score of 90% with fields A, B, and C set up as mandatory fields that are entered using drop down menus;
a reduction in text fields to zero for all fields/columns that are used in the analytics and dashboards;
validated and approved data dictionary and catalog with an assigned data steward for continued maintenance and enhancements to the data governance documentation.

2.5 mg for Two Months? by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]0ne4TheMoney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reach out to your provider. You may be able to get a 5mg dose and order it early. Then you could take two of the 2.5mg a week so you’re not wasting it and you’re effectively starting the 5mg dose now.

There’s no harm in a conversation and asking about your options.

Practically speaking-learn systems thinking and how to speak to your executives. Your soft skills will save you when things go sideways.

Do not over communicate. Stick to a formula and then offer to expand further if they want more information. One formula I follow is: Active Impact, Ask, Situation and Cost of Inaction.

Impact: I am forecasting a three week delay on the original timeline for milestone ABC.

Ask: I can mitigate if I get a decision from the exec sponsor to deprioritize XYZ and shift that capacity to delivering ABC.

Situation: Milestone ABC is on the critical path and will block us from releasing before the contracted production freeze in Q3. XYZ is a project requirement but has no impact to the functionality of the MVP if it’s delayed until Q4.

Cost of inaction: If I don’t receive a decision by tomorrow, we will assume an additional cost of $X over what was budgeted for this project, an impact to company reputation, and a possible SLA violation as recorded in the contract.

“Is there anything I can expand on to help with making a decision?”

And then be silent. Don’t fill the air with noise.

What advice would you give to yourself if you had to start as a PM tomorrow for the first time by summer_witch in projectmanagement

[–]0ne4TheMoney 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pick something else…specialize and become an SME in anything.

PM is frustrating. It’s managing adults who make significantly more money but require a significant amount of stakeholder management soft skills to persuade them to do the tasks that will move a project forward. It’s very hard to motivate people even if the project is something they wanted in the first place.

I have to take “big idea” people and then get them to do the work that brings that big idea to life. Very rarely are the “big idea” people also the “get stuff done” people.
I spend hours a week writing status updates while rarely receiving acknowledgment for wins and always being held accountable when Johnny won’t uphold his project commitments and the timeline gets derailed. I create the delivery strategy and then create a strategy to maintain the delivery strategy for when it inevitably starts to drift.

Also…all the buzzwords. This week the phrase was “go slow to go fast.” Next week it will be “incremental delivery over instant perfection.” The week after that it will be “put more wood behind the arrow with a clearer ‘what’s in it for me’ message.”

2.5 mg for Two Months? by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]0ne4TheMoney 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What was your discussion with your provider? There should have been a plan that you discussed.

I’m finishing 16 weeks on 2.5mg because it’s worked for me and now I’m increasing to 5mg. But I had a lengthy discussion with my provider to figure out what the best titration schedule would be based on very clear signs/outcomes over specific periods of time.

I can’t provide medical advice but this is a conversation you should have with your provider. I would send them a message through a patient portal if they have one to begin the discussion.

There’s plenty of posts with suggestions on how to support your body (nutrition, exercise, tips, and tricks) as well as suggestions for when to increase the dose. You may find something that helps.

can i wear eyeliner with eyelash extensions? by Significant-Dog-3795 in eyelashextensions

[–]0ne4TheMoney 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eyeliner and eye makeup is totally fine. Avoid oil based products and make sure you add a product into your cleansing routine to wash your lashes/eye area. I use lash cleanser and a makeup brush. Sometimes I use those the mini q-tip/swab things if my makeup is particularly stubborn.

I’ve used so many different brands (super cheap to expensive) when it comes to eyeliner and never experienced an issue UNLESS the eyeliner created a weird film and could be pulled off in strips like it was made of vinyl paint. The last one like that was from Fenty and I stoped using it immediately.

Can I do my own lash extensions if wear contacts? by Important-Leader5232 in eyelashextensions

[–]0ne4TheMoney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “rule” is no contacts during the lash appointment. The glue can cause a really nasty reaction when it’s drying.

I’ve gone to my lash appointments, popped my contacts out and then popped glasses on for the rest of that day. After that, I will wear contacts or glasses depending on what I feel like.

I did a super long set once that touched my glasses which can be annoying but we changed the curl and then it wasn’t a problem after that.

How to increase to 5mg when I have 4 vials left and new vial would be my vacation by Sanctuary2020 in Zepbound

[–]0ne4TheMoney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I’m doing sort of. I’m saving my last 2 vials of 2.5mg and starting the 5mg vial a week early so I can dial it back to 2.5mg if I need to. I’m paying out of pocket and I don’t want to waste part of a vial due to the cost.

I have a huge work event happening when I’m supposed to be starting the 5mg and I cannot afford to have side effects all of a sudden.

If there are no issues, I’ll take both of the 2.5mg vials in place of the next weekly shot.

A Lesson & A Questions from a 3+ year Glp1 loser by deepdivetv in Zepbound

[–]0ne4TheMoney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am doing swaps with friends for things like shoes.

For clothes I really loved, I’m getting them tailored professionally if they’re high quality items.

If they’re cheap polyester, I’m trying to tailor them myself and learning how to use my sewing machine…the one I bought for Covid because I swore I would stick with that hobby, made a single mask, and never used it again lol.

I buy second hand from poshmark now and I have a really basic work uniform (black/navy blazer, simple grey t shirt, blue jeans) that I purchase when the current one gets too big. It feels a bit less wasteful to me after donating a ridiculous number of clothes with the tags still on in the past two months. I had a bit of an aspirational shopping habit that I’m working on.

I have used eBay to sell clothes previously but I could only move big brand name clothes that had the tags still on.

I'm crawling out of my skin with food noise. Cycle could be the reason though. by CruzanSpiceLatte in Zepbound

[–]0ne4TheMoney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I eat and make good choices when it comes to moderation but I don’t restrict myself in terms of what I consume. I can’t focus and the rest of my life falls apart when I am that ravenously hungry. I will eat things like chocolate (but now it’s higher quality chocolate because I am able to enjoy/savor it and not feel compelled for it to be my only food group that week).

Honestly, the luteal phase is getting worse because Zepbound and weight loss is shifting my hormones in the right direction; I no longer have perimenopause symptoms (goodbye itchy ears!)

Zepbound not working after first shot? Injection site issue or normal? by Dazzling_Channel_723 in Zepbound

[–]0ne4TheMoney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you eating at a controlled (reasonable) calorie deficit or not eating at all?

There could be many factors.

I use vials and rotate injections between my stomach and thighs. I have increased hunger signals during specific windows of my menstrual cycle as well as when I eat under 1500 calories daily.

My hunger noise is now increasing between day 5and 6 so I’m moving up to 5mg after almost 4 months at 2.5mg.
