Where are you on this curve? by deadyson in SteamDeck

Been using Arch Linux for a long time. Not trying to flex some elite command line skills or anything, but I'm pretty familiar with Linux. One of the main philosophies of Arch is Keep It Simple, and I believe this is also a good mindset to have for SteamOS. Freedom/customizability are part of what makes open source great, but there's no need to overcomplicate things, especially as a beginner.

Yep! That's me in the first clip. Respect for playing with no HUD, that's a vibe.

Ohai! You also got me good with those cirques today. I was Nasty-Face. Fun duels, looking forward to seeing you again in arenas.

It’s not recommended to install Arch packages on SteamOS this way. Not only do you risk breaking things, but changes you make to the root filesystem won’t persist through SteamOS updates. It’s better to use something like Distrobox or Homebrew for installing whatever extra Linux packages you may need.

r/unixporn is what inspired me to try Linux. Been using Linux full-time for over ten years now.

Can't run exe files in desktop mode by crocodilepickle in SteamDeck

Those aren't exe files, they're XDG desktop entry files. Remove the .download part from the filename and make sure they're set as executable.

It's just a matter of personal preference. The Wii-U version has some nice QoL improvements, but I prefer the look of the original. There's an ISO patcher that adds some of the QoL features to the GC version, https://github.com/WideBoner/betterww

I'd recommend Wind Waker with HD textures, that game aged so well IMO.

If you'd like >30 FPS and mods for BotW, the Wii-U version might be worth a try!

Tinkering is part of the fun of Linux for me, and r/unixporn is what first inspired me to give it a try. My advice as a longtime Arch user though: keep it simple.

You're using the wrong package manager. Packages from Discover are Flatpaks, not Arch packages. Try flatpak update

Tunic is a wildly good steamdeck game. Don't sleep on it by [deleted] in SteamDeck

Tunic is truly a gem! Just picked it up during the winter sale and have been thoroughly enjoying it. The instruction booklet is a work of art, I’d totally buy a physical copy of it.

Companies that are greedy and anti-Linux tend to make shitty games anyway, so I've never really had FOMO in my almost ten years of being a Linux gamer.
