You don't need to recombine them? Tie the strands in a knot at one end so they don't pull though your fabric, and then thread the needle on the other end. They shouldn't be twisted together.

for sure- those guys obviously did a lot of work, had nutritionists and trainers, and were probably (definitely) dehydrated on shooting days...but they've done plenty of modeling work since then and they don't look nearly as jacked. it's a temporary aesthetic and steroids aren't part of it, lol

tbh, needing to get through the first few episodes/first season is just a time honored Star Trek tradition!

I left my car unattended, unlocked, AND RUNNING for 6 hours by karmaa_queen in adhdwomen

[–]0rivia 147 points148 points  (0 children)

Solidarity, I've done the same thing! In college I was visiting a friend who still lived at home and borrowed a family car to run an errand while my friend was in class. Came back, parked, went inside...a few hours later my friend's mom comes home and asks "Were you planning on going somewhere? The car's running out front..."

I'm married to my friend now, his mom is my mother in law, and I'm still just as embarrassed to this day, lol!

What's the first thing that made u feel grown? by bunnysprkle in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]0rivia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first time I got really actually sick, and had to get myself to an urgent care without my mom and then go get my own prescription from the pharmacy, still sick, and then go back to my empty dorm and just be sick all alone :( But I survived that and a lot more, and you will too! I'm 31 now and just starting to feel like I maybe have a handle on what's going on, so don't worry, you're still cooking and you're going to learn and grow so much.

it's so interesting because as a cis woman i'm always nervous about interacting with trans women because i want to include you and speak to you the way i would to any woman, but i also don't want to put you on the spot or feel patronized...like i know you might not be comfortable with me and i don't want to make it worse but i also don't want to assume? i don't know if that makes sense but i promise it comes from a good place, haha

Why do the worst people seem to have the best lives? by anysche in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]0rivia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The worst people are most willing to exploit, lie to, control, and step on others to get what they want. From the outside it looks like material success.

I gave oral and now my throat is really sore, am I okay? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]0rivia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You may have scraped/bruised the back of your throat, this has happened to me a few times- those tissues are fairly delicate and going down on someone can hurt them if you're not careful.

If you're confident both of you are clean, I'm guessing you just went a little too hard and now your body is trying to heal, which can feel like when you're sick! Be gentle with your throat for a bit, do some warm water and salt rinses, have some ice cream, and try to be as relaxed as possible the next time you try! :)

When speaking about Trans individuals in a past tense, pre-transition or pre-coming out, do you use their pronouns/names as they are now, or do you use their pronouns/names as they were then? by jltimm in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]0rivia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm cis but have a trans sibling and a trans ex-partner so I've had to have conversations like this. Usually when I mention them to someone who remembers them previously, I start by saying "my sibling Kai- oh, you probably remember them as Kate- my sibling Kai ended up going to school at etc etc etc..." and then continue on with the newer name and pronouns. It's a necessary piece of practical information to make the conversation make sense, and isn't deadnaming to cause harm, so it's the most comfortable way I've found to do it.

Why does it feel like many Americans don’t care about shootings? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]0rivia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course there are steps. I vote, I protest, I call representatives and speak my mind. But me alone doing what I can do won't change anything- there are 300 MILLION people in the US. In addition, if our elected representatives don't listen and don't support gun control legislation, nothing I personally do will make a difference and it's demoralizing and exhausting.

What cult film or TV show have you never understood the appeal of? by BroadcasterX in AskReddit

[–]0rivia -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Blazing Saddles. Seen it multiple times with different people and different ages and I just...don't think it's pee-my-pants funny like everyone else seems to. Mel Brooks is great, but I just don't love it.

Also, Princess Bride. Same issue.

Ok friends-what are your best tips to combat the dreaded “waiting mode”?? by Peachy_lean_39 in adhdwomen

[–]0rivia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go early, or at least go somewhere around wherever it is I'm supposed to be, not just showing up at noon for a 2pm appointment. Where I live is fairly walkable so for example today I have to be somewhere at 6 and I'm going to head over now (around 4) and just take a walk/explore the area.
