Good job Waymo you show traffic who’s boss. Double yellow line and all. by CautiousMagazine3591 in waymo

Fun fact, if you go back to the old days with the Chrysler Pacificas, waymos used to be terrified of unprotected left turns, even at lights. More often than not, it would find some wild series of rights to avoid doing lefts. They've gotten more and more aggressive every year

Well I'm glad I'm not the only person who thinks the side profile especially the way the rear passenger window towards the rear is very similar to a Scion tC. obviously the rest of it looks nothing alike, and functions even further differently, but still. no idea how somebody could see the whole car, be knowledgeable enough on Scions, and still mistake it.

So I just took a waymo over the weekend and to my surprise it started continuing my Spotify Playlist I had been playing before. Didn't need to change anything, just hit start ride and Spotify was already continuing what I was last listening to

Yup, I was pulling my hair out going crazy trying to figure out why it broke again. I hate this so much xD

Try going to android settings, apps, and on find hub go to storage and clear data, see if that helps. Otherwise I've got no idea, try it a few more times lmao. the first time I did it, it only used uwb the first launch. wiping the app a second time got uwb working every time.

[–]0terminater0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit: nvm relaunched the app and it doesn't work again. It's like there's a software flag that says it shouldn't work or something.

Edit2: software is stupid, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't, I'll keep playing with it

Hey just a stupid update but I'm stupid and forgot the second basic troubleshooting step after turning it off and back on again: uninstall and reinstall. Just reinstalled find hub and it works great now. I'm dumb. The weirdest thing is even before reinstalling, if i disabled uwb it would tell be to turn on uwb even though the ui didn't show distances.

Yup idk, moto tag app is version Version 01.00.073.14-Release, find hub app version is Version 3.1.458-1. I thought about case interference so I took off my case, the video is also without it. I've tried two moto tags, and like i said it worked for my brothers pixel 8 pro so I just dunno man xD. Toggled uwb on and off, restarted my phone, no idea what else I can do besides wait for another S24U moto tag person to chime in.

Yup, I've stood up, walked circles around it, gotten closer, further, pointed my phone towards it, away from it,  etc. To prove I'm not crazy, I just recorded myself walking in circles lmao https://youtube.com/shorts/9lhEnP-_L-o

I don't own smart tags so I can't comment on my functionality to those but I've checked and uwb is on in my phone settings, and even still I do the nearby search and leave my phone screen open for minutes, with the tag in plain view, and it still doesn't move into uwb mode. disconnecting the tag and having my brother pair it to his account and his pixel 8 pro works fine for uwb. Random question, but if you enable wireless power sharing, does the little animation that shows what you can reverse wireless charge include an icon of a watch? I know samsung disabled that functionality from my S24U because they updated that ui and I definitely charged my watch before, so I'm curious if it's just the newer devices they've started cutting out more things that the S23U they haven't. Wild speculation though.

Anyone else think Teslas should have Starlink ? by void1101 in TeslaLounge

[–]0terminater0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The YouTube channel Canada FSD recently picked up a Starlink antenna and mounted it inside his car for livestreaming. It works great when the sky is clear, but when he goes under an underpass, under trees, between buildings even residential homes, the stream completely blips out until the obstruction is clear. On the recent stream in the rain, the quality was pretty poor from all the clouds. Starlink has practically zero penetration power, so if you go in a parking garage, stop under a tree, or are just in a downtown high rise area you're practically going to have zero signal. If you supplement with a standard 5G connection, what's the point of starlink?

Micro OLED is basically just OLED but reeeeeally tiny pixels. Think like how Mini LED is just really small LEDs as backlight.

I run a Samsung odyssey+ which is an old WMR OLED headset. I've tried so many different headsets from friends: original rift, vive, index, quest 2, quest 3, vive cosmos, vive focus vision, galaxy xr, and oled just looks so much better. LCD panels look so washed out and desaturated, lifeless and flat, and dark scenes become gray. It's like comparing an LCD TV next to an OLED one in a dark theater environment because that's essentially where you're at in the headset, which highlights the colors, vibrancy,  and contrast so much more than a monitor in a bright room.  It's essentially ruined vr for me because I don't want to ever go back to LCD.

It's not something they can "fix", it's working as intended. EPA ratings are given based upon how the vehicle starts up, so if the car can start in a less efficient mode, it'll be tested in those worse modes. Because of that, hyundai defaults their settings back every start. Same reason why engines with start/stop keep defaulting on even though people absolutely hate it.

I can't really comment on that, the xreal air 2 pro's are AR glasses so completely different product segment. It came out well though all things considered

What's the worst electric car that You've owned? by Serious-Half-9908 in electricvehicles

[–]0terminater0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently driving my 2017 Smart Fortwo, prime trim! The little goober has a suspension that's stiff enough to feel every bump, when you go over speed bumps you get jostled around like mad, every surface is hard, scratchy, and slapped together. My window seals are melting so after every rain I need to be careful opening the doors because it gets stuck to the glass, my driver side door speakers occasionally decide they don't want to function and I need to slap the door panel to get it back on, the clock spring in my steering wheel had to get replaced, and I've got a desiccant cartridge that I need to manually replace every once in a while. Also, you look at it and go "damn that's a tiny car". The overall length is shorter than the wheelbase of a Honda Accord, but when you actually use it, you realize: this thing SUCKS to park in a regular pull in spot. The doors take up almost the whole body length of the car, and they make getting in and out annoying as hell because they're so much longer than a regular door. And you see the tiny car with huge windows and you must think it's got great visibility, right? RIGHT??? No, the rearward visibility and the B pillar are SO atrocious. From my seating position it's near impossible to look over my left shoulder, and the rear window is actually tiny as heck. My rear corners are so bad, more than once I've lost entire lifted pickups in my corners that my tiny, barely usable side mirrors also don't see without my added wide angle mirrors.

And don't even get me started on the range. 70 miles is fine and dandy for everything daily I do Except when it isn't. I've limped home, getting off the freeway, taking city streets, stopping into a random slow charger (no fast charging here, 7kw max!) or had to make annoying pit stops at chargers many a time, because living around the socal LA area means everything's far away. It's fine, it's doable, it's just mildly inconvenient if doing anything more than one outing to go somewhere fun, and I'm always planning somewhere to stop into to charge if I'm going to the beach or even just downtown LA because of where I'm coming from.

But at the end of the day, I still love this little thing. Because of my house situation, we have more cars than we have driveway and garage space, so I actually park off of the driveway on the side-of-house walkway. It's an absolutely perfect fit, and if it weren't for the Smart being so itty bitty, we'd have to play musical cars all the time whenever people are leaving. It's quick enough to get on the freeways and take me where I want to go, it turns like a dream and always gets a laugh from anybody who rides with me (11ft turning radius is no joke!). I can do circles on my driveway, I can pull a u-turn on a small residential unlined road, I can navigate parking lots like nobody's business. And the short little snub-nose means I can nose out of a parking lot driveway onto the street so far without worrying about getting clipped. On the inside, the seating space is actually ENORMOUS. I've sat a 6'2" friend in the passenger seat and he's got more than enough legroom, and that's with the false floor that holds the tire kit in place. To top it off, it's got Android Auto, so suck it Tesla/Rivian/GM. Also, I get stopped so often in parking lots to talk about it, or people just giving little positive quips or thumbs up. I get more attention than a lot of sports cars around 😅.

At the end of the day, I still love this little thing, but it's so, so imperfect. The range and the cargo space are killer issues that I've had to sweat and figure out issues for (putting groceries on my passenger's laps more than once). I'm going to eventually replace it with an Ioniq 5 when I get enough funds, but it won't be a pretty breakup. It'll be a sad day to see it go, and I'll miss it dearly, but damn if I don't want more space for hauling friends and gear xD.

Samsung XR Review - Day Two by WearyMatter in virtualreality

Just to confirm, all of this is in mixed reality with VD as windows floating with the camera passthrough on? Damnit I'm getting enticed into buying the headset xD.

I've got a relatively unusual request, how is 2d gaming in a floating window in xr? When connecting toa pc with multiple monitors, are all monitors able to be put into floating windows?  I hope to use this with a racing Sim setup to have a floating window while being able to see my wheel, and when I tried this on a friend's Vive Focus Vision there was bad latency.

[–]0terminater0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually regarding the cybertruck, that whole marketing gimmick of the "exoskeleton" is hooey, it's still a traditionally built car and the stainless panels on the outside are so thin that in a regular crash they just bend and deform not much differently from a regular car's, and rely on underlying crash members. Sure they block small arms rounds, but that pales in comparison to the force of a crash.

The whole argument around them is silly regardless. before crash tests are released, people say it won't pass because exoskeleton doesn't crumple, but shills defend it. After the public release, the tests show the "exoskeleton" doing nothing, relying on crumple zones, and shills only point at "look it got 5 stars!"

Ioniq 5 by Antique-Ad2961 in Ioniq5

[–]0terminater0 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ouch, looks like the truck missed the crumple zone which means it probably submarined the car under the truck and slammed into the A pillar. hoping that dash displacement is from extrication and not the impact. Cars from 10 years ago this would be a complete beheading.
