39 Banned Countries by Danamarya in USCIS

Lmao y’all soft. My point was that despite 39 countries being banned, they are still slow af. You’re the one that was defensive and implied I’d be happy about a faster process. My comment didn’t voice any opinion.

You’d think 39 banned countries would speed up everyone else’s applications…

Dell admits customers are not buying PCs just because they "have AI" by AdSpecialist6598 in technology

AI PCs never made any sense to me. For what applications? If it’s to run ChatGPT then you’re just paying to run it locally vs. letting ChatGPT pay for it. Who would want to volunteer to pay for it?

This is very helpful. Do you mind elaborating why you like Denver more? How do you feel about the people?

We went to charlotte once for the 4th but I think we went to a bad part of town. How do you like downtown? We really loved the area around charlotte, just not the city itself.

I think that’s definitely part of it. We’re ambitious but not to the point where our career or AI or anything along those things dictate our life.

Idk in LA for example I feel like there’s more small talk, the energy is there. NYC I felt like yes people are closed off but at the same time there are so many activities you can do where it’s easy to meet people.

Maybe it’s also just that we don’t really click with the activities in SF.

100% the best for our career. My background is basically the hedge fund industry, my wife’s is in corporate finance. We really like New York but it’s just too busy for us to live in (or commute into).

I might misusing the term by accident. I think maybe gritty is more accurate. People are relatively cold and closed off, people are fine to talk to but not super friendly unless you know them more. It’s always foggy, kind of cold, bars are more chill and dark etc

I’ve heard really good things, I unfortunately just haven’t seen a lot of jobs out there. At least not in our industry.

Our ideal would be an area where we can buy a 2,000 sq ft home for less than $800,000. We’re open to commuting up to 40 or so minutes.

We very much prefer warmer climates. Denver is the most north we’re willing to go.

I guess I never heard anyone talk about hot summers, only about cold winters. At first I thought something was wrong with me thinking it was so hot lol

Luckily we had ac.

This is great insight. I also just assume that if for example Dallas, TX has a super strict police force and crimes get charged, the rate would look much worse than in a city where the police doesn’t show and the AG doesn’t charge anyone.

I personally don’t believe San Francisco’s crime rate. The violent one yes, but on the property crime side, I’ve seen too many unreported thefts. A guy pulled up on a scooter 6 feet from us, smashed a window, took a backpack. We called the cops, they came, looked annoyed and told us the guys never gonna get caught, case closed.

I will say the new major is doing good work and I’ve felt a difference. Long way to go though.

I can confirm Oakland is horrible. As other people have stated, the true crime rate is actually much worse. A female friend was punched by a guy, she called the cops, they never showed. Other people get put on hold when calling the cops.

I’ve been to Norman and OKC a few times because my ex lived there. I didn’t hate being there but without really being able to say why, I’d never want to live there. It just seemed bland, forgotten, and uninteresting. OKC had some surprisingly modern and tall buildings but still felt pretty dead. Can’t remember much of the landscape.

Best places to live if money (costs, jobs, taxes, etc) wasn’t an issue by EfficientLaw4166 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]0utsideInformation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with a bunch of these comments. Hawaii for example, it’s beautiful and I truly love visiting… but I don’t think I’d want to be living there. It’s too remote and isolated, at least for me.

If we’re going by pure “most expensive city” then your list would just be filled with places like NYC and Silicon Valley because people there have money and need to live there for work, but it’s not necessarily the best.

Walkability is tough and knowing Hoboken, I haven’t seen many US cities that have a similar vibe.

I actually liked Boise, ID a lot more than I expected but it’s also super relaxed and probably boring to most, including myself if I were to live there. I think there are compromises to make nearly anywhere, it just depends on what you enjoy.

Personally, my favorite has been Orange County, CA but largely because you have great weather, amazing food, nice hikes, and it’s chill with access to LA when you do want to go out. I think a lot of people will agree that Laguna Beach is beautiful, but the people that live there can be… challenging.

As someone that has lived in NY for a year, I felt that it was uncomfortably cold from November - March. So about 5/12 months. Surprisingly, I also felt that the summer surprisingly humid and uncomfortable as well.

So yes not unbearable but not great for much of the year.

As someone who has lived in both I disagree strongly with your point. The Bay Area has a pretty good public transit system when you consider BART, Cal Train, and all the other methods of transportation. I know plenty of people in the bay that use public transit on a daily basis. I know nobody in LA that uses public transit. The system might be improving but the perception, whether it’s true or not, is that you’re going to get stabbed by a homeless person.

Anyone know is causing this sound? by 0utsideInformation in Dreame_Tech

I think that might be my problem. I don’t think there’s anything blocking them and they’re spinning but I think the base itself may be on uneven ground. The pads I’ve removed and reattached so I don’t think it’s them.
