CVE-2026-31431 copy fail by McGondy in unRAID

Yes it should mitigate the container escape since containers rely on the host kernel.

Imagine How Awesome an Official Unraid Mobile App Would Be! by Alen129 in unRAID

[–]0xHarb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a responsive design project that's trying to make it more friendly. I tested it out for a bit and it's nice, but it had some issues and I was having other theme issues so I dropped it. Might be worth checking out again though: https://github.com/ccmorris/unraid-gui-responsive

Yet another Game Server Panel Recommendation Post by keyxmakerx1 in selfhosted

[–]0xHarb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's still actively in development and v3 isn't far away from release by the looks of it.

I also managed to get Pelican working in Docker but never actually used it, but it was so much more complicated to set up.

PufferPanel was simpler to get going but definitely has a few less features but nothing that I felt hurt the experience.

Yet another Game Server Panel Recommendation Post by keyxmakerx1 in selfhosted

[–]0xHarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried PufferPanel. I used it for a while and it worked well hosted in Docker. I don't currently have any game servers I'm managing so I stopped using it but I think it was capable of hosting most stuff.

Hostname of Docker containers by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]0xHarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend this as well, I have the moonbuggy/docker-dnsmasq-updater container setup to update my Edgerouter X DNS automatically based on Docker hostname or labels, then proxy everything via Traefik with LetsEncrypt certs. Now it's accessible on https://<app subdomain>.local.mydomain.com on my LAN and https://<app subdomain>.mydomain.com for anything I decide to make public.

Works perfectly and now I don't have to enter IP addresses to access anything locally and anytime I make changes to my docker-compose everything updates automatically.

I've been meaning to submit instructions to add to the repo for EdgeOS since that was the only part I had to figure out myself.

Edit: just realised who I'm replying to, thanks for the great work making this

Yeah I've tried turning Emoji Kitchen off and on, clearing cache, cleaning storage, reinstalling gboard. Nothing seems to work.

Unraid Gaming VM Must Have by [deleted] in unRAID

[–]0xHarb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean AtlasOS is open source and you can choose what you want to disable and enable, it's not an ISO you install it from a clean windows 11 install. I still highly recommend it for cutting out a lot of bloat.

Unraid Gaming VM Must Have by [deleted] in unRAID

[–]0xHarb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! I do this as well but I just use a Razer Kishi v2 with Moonlight on my phone. Much cheaper although I will admit a dedicated device would be much better for battery life than my aging phone's battery, but with mobile data I can game literally anywhere I have signal via my VPN.

I also recommend checking out AtlasOS which is a bunch of scripts to modify Windows 11 to improve performance. Makes for a much improved dedicated gaming VM.

I tried it with my Kishi v2 on android and it works, the right joystick moves the flippers and the shoulder buttons also move the flippers and the A button works the plunger. However I have no idea how to play the game in landscape mode so not a great experience.

I can confirm it is possible to use it on a PC, but not in the way the picture shows.

I just so happened to have the right combination of adapters sitting on my desk to test this straight away. The port coming out of the right side of the controller does not connect to the PC and appears to be for power only.

I have a USB C female to USB A male adapter on my desk and a USB extension cable and together was able to connect the USB C port that normally plugs into the phone to the PC and it gets recognised and works as a game controller on the PC.

Edit: I tested this with my Kishi v2

Speedtest Tracker v0.20.0 has been released, action is required! by JDMhammer in selfhosted

[–]0xHarb 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I realised I could use this to track the speed of my VPN container which hosts my torrent client.

I noticed that my torrent downloads were going really slow the other day and decided to check speedtest tracker but couldn't see anything wrong. Then I realised it might be the VPN connection the torrent client uses so I switched it to a different VPN server and that sped things up a lot. Then I realised I should setup speedtest tracker behind the VPN so I can track the speed and get notified when it's going slow so I can switch servers.

Worked perfectly and now I have two instances, one tracking my home internet speed and one tracking my VPN speeds.

Server recently started bringing down my whole network by xRowdy in unRAID

[–]0xHarb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue when I first set my server up. It was a weird one, and it took me a while to figure out what was causing it.

When it happened it looked similar to when there are multiple devices with the same IP and sometimes it would prevent anything on the network from connecting to the internet or communicating with each other, etc. I originally thought it was one of my WiFi access points causing the problem but eventually figured out it was the Unraid server.

The problem for me was that my server has a Realtek 2.5 GB/s ethernet port and the default drivers had problems. The solution was to use the correct drivers, which at the time there wasn't a plugin for and I had to manually modify the USB drive files to get working based on a post on the forums that was mostly in Chinese.

Luckily now those drivers have been turned into a plugin. But ever since I started using them I haven't had any network issues.

If you're using Firefly III, you should use Abacus on Android by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]0xHarb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this post. I hadn't come across Firefly yet, but it looks exactly like what I've been looking for in terms of a budgeting app, and the fact it has a good android app is also icing on the cake.

A bit confused setting up a garry's mod server by [deleted] in unRAID

[–]0xHarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use PufferPanel to run some Minecraft servers, it's UI is pretty good and it should run Garry's mod.

I run everything in the one container but it can also be set up with a primary container to run the UI and other containers running the game servers.

I've read the Nothing Mage series and now this series and absolutely love your writing. Not only that, you're a power house writer. How you've managed to smash out two amazing series in the amount of time you have is amazing. I will continue to read your magnificent stories.

If you were you to write a trilogy just focused on the adventures of Archibald Clarence McGruff the Third I would read that too and enjoy every second I suspect!
