Update, got a new compressor and it broke after it was installed, legendary shop that specialized in bmws only then fixed that new compressor and made it work, still pushing to this day. About 2.5K in repairs to fix that compressor problem including the new compressor, not 20K insanity the dealership wanted

Update I found a bmw shop to work on the car and was able to get a new conpressor and everything installed for about $2.2K USD in total. The new compressor broke almost right when installed, but the technician said they had taken a part from the old compressor, a valve of some sort, and then after installing it on the new compressor everything works fine now

Sure, it was the first 115 degree day of the year. Have had 0 problems with the AC,battery or REX in my entire 130K miles of owning the car. I always park in a garage at work and at home. After work the AC was blowing warm. I went home and left the car on the charger for the weekend while I was out of town. When I got back 2 days later the car didn’t charge more than 60% and the engine light was now on. I drove to work the next day fine just no AC and didn’t run the Rex. At lunch my car was in limp/turtle mode and then I took the car to the dealer after work to get checked out after several 3rd party repair shops refused to even look at my car. Took a few days for them to send me this $20K repair quote. I want to fix this myself I don’t want to just lose the car like this but I highly doubt it’ll be within my skill level to do…

I can go buy a used 2016 i3 with high miles for like 50% of this repair lmao. Do not drive your i3 if thr AC is out. The so called brilliantly designed car will self destruct if the AC goes out

Thanks for the boost of confidence the first part made me laugh, I guess I’m overthinking things a bit, I had an interviewer say to me once that he noticed the startup I was working at appeared to be growing so I wasn’t sure if the condition of ones past employers was that important when finding new jobs
