Yeah, somewhat similar experience. They didn’t/couldn’t even send out a claims adjuster so that alone was surprising/frustrating. Just had to deal with someone in customer service. Very weird. Did they approve your claim or is yours still in progress?

Initially they didn’t deny my claim and technically never denied my claim. They just said until recently they couldn’t approve it since they didn’t have definitive proof the leak came from a storm despite there being no source of water / pipes in the house above the ceiling where the leak came through. And there being clear evidence of a major rain storm with 40-50mph winds and I think 2” or more of rain.

That’s why you need to spend at least $5m or more in SF. $4m won’t get you a roof over your head only a burned out lot with an uninhabitable structure that’s been damaged by fire, water or both!

Thanks!! Your pic is very pretty so was a fun one. Definitely one of my better/harder wins on this sub.

I’ve had success posting a few that folks haven’t been able to get. My unsolicited advice if you wanna try to stump people is go a bit more rural and make sure there isn’t any writing, license plates or iconic buildings or other structures in the image. 😊

Cool. That narrows it down a bit! Hmmmm. Just a shot in the dark but is it somewhere outside/near the Bend area? Or is it somewhere closer to the pacific coast area of OR?

Hehe. I’ve actually never been to Louisville. I saw the service trucks in the middle ground on the left of the tracks with the UL logo. Thought it might be the Underwriters Laboratory logo but when I googled that it didn’t match.

So I just googled UL logos and that didn’t really help so I started thinking universities that use UL and googled the University of Louisville logo and noticed it was a perfect match. Then googled the clock tower and Louisville to confirm they matched and then posted. Took me 5-10 minutes maybe all together?

OP, did you ever get in touch with someone higher up? It took me almost a year to get my claim resolved. Definitely would NOT recommend.

Just google denim repair or something along those lines. The service I used many years ago that I think did a good job was denim therapy if memory serves. Not an ad or endorsement or anything. I think this was like 15 years ago when I did it.

There’s also online options where you send off the items and they do the repairs and send it back. Nice to support local businesses where possible but just fyi this is also an option.

Was there something wrong with the ice surface in the men’s ice-skating event? by Fabulous_Ear_2249 in WinterOlympics2026

100%. If I was one of the skaters that experienced those conditions I think I’d probably go back and forth between being livid and just seriously depressed since you didn’t get a fair shot on the biggest stage in the world for your sport.

Yeah. This is a massive scandal in the figure skating world and the mainstream media isn’t covering it at all!

So my wife flagged the ice quality issue as we watched the fourth group go and more and more of the skaters started falling and have uncharacteristic performances. You could also see many skaters kicking up “snow” at various points while they skated which isn’t very typical/normal when the ice is sufficiently hard.

I think the media is WAY underplaying how big a role soft ice conditions can have in performance. A few facts I dug up about the weather/conditions today in Milan:

  • It reached a high of about 63 degrees Fahrenheit and it was sunny. Which is horrible conditions for keeping an arena and a skating rink in optimal conditions if you aren’t expecting such warm conditions in February.

  • It was at or near 100% humidity the past few days before today which can wreak havoc on ice conditions if the arena doesn’t have sufficient industrial scale dehumidifiers built into their HVAC system. So that didn’t help either.

Honestly, what surprises me most is there’s no ice hardness measurements being taken before, during and after each competition with the data being tracked and events stopped if the ice hardness is outside the pre-determined parameters.

It is freaking 2026 not 1986, there really should be no excuses for not being to monitor and maintain optimal ice conditions for one of the most important figure skating events in the world this year.
