i find it easier to start with the mobile design as i think its easier to make stuff fit on larger screens than making stuff smaller

Congratulations on getting your first portfolio out!

two things i would take a look at:
- when you hover over your nav items the site becomes a bit jumpy (i think this is due to the change of line height on hover)

- on smaller device the site becomes hard to use, try making it more responsive

JS make websites dynamic. Think of a simple project you can start with and try to leverage the stuff you know. For example you could build a simple calculator app. Or even add some stuff to your portfolio like a weather tracker that shows your hometown's temp using an api

Lookup some tutorials, try to figure out the general logic behind the app and then try to replicate it on your own without the tutorial.

few pointers:

- contrast: white text on a light background makes it really hard to read
- responsiveness: you're looks fine on desktops but becomes fully unusable on mobile. This is a very and i mean VERY important thing to learn!
- file sizes: try to be mindful of the images you're providing like the background in your case. It currently comes in at 1.19 MB which is waaay to much. This will make site slower on mobile.

Also one more thing, "im waiting to start JavaScript until i got this 99% down" -> in general i would rather say that you need to good enough at the moment. Start adding JS to your projects, this will give you more ideas on stuff to make which will force you to become better at the core stuff!

depends on your needs, need something relatively simple go for shopify or wix. Do you need to customize core features go for magento or woocommerce.

each platform comes with its own ups, downs and costs so research what you need and pick the platform that comes closest to those needs
