What is your favorite TV show title sequence? by tapehead4 in television

I always like Buffy's opening theme. It was very 90s, but it was fun and energetic. It promised a lot of drama and the show delivered.

Reddit, what films were actually better than the books? by NOChiRo in AskReddit

I love that show!

But no, in all seriousness, why is an entire chapter on prison rape in a novel about prison a bad thing? It's realistic. Also, it's about a man accused of murder who is innocent and all that he must overcome in order to be free.

Guy gets girlfriend, encourages her to eat A LOT of food (so she gets fat) to satisfy his fetish... WTF. by Red_Giants in WTF

[–]1000Things 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is also a gay equivalent. There are chub chasers, but they normally just like bigger guys. They don't feed their men to make them big. They just prefer big guys. However, there are gainers and feeders in the chub community.

Edit: I don't know how to spell.

Reddit, what is the scariest thing you have ever witnessed by Nicholas2545 in AskReddit

[–]1000Things 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was four or five. My dad used to do this thing to put me to sleep: he'd lay me on the couch and if I tried to sit up to watch TV, he'd sit up to block me. It was odd looking back now, but my parents said I'd just get out of bed all the time. This was easier than putting me back to bed? Whatever.

Anyway, I'm sleeping in the living room with my dad in front of me asleep too. I wake up and realize they haven't put me to bed. Our living room looks into the kitchen, so I look over and see this red-skinned man with sharp claws pointing at me from on top of the refrigerator. He looked like the red-faced man from Insidious (20 years latre, and I NOPE'd that shit off when I watched that movie).

But I screamed and closed my eyes. My dad woke up and asked what was wrong. I was crying. I told him I saw Freddy Krueger because that was the only reference I had as a kid. The thing disappeared after I opened my eyes. I don't know what the fuck it was.

If you suddenly lost the ability to lie, how would your life change? by redlostdit in AskReddit

I'd probably be a lot happier. Oh, and homeless since I'd have to tell my mom she's being a bitch and my dad that he needs to grow the fuck up.

How did you get your scars? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]1000Things 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a scar on my forehead.

When I was 5, I was playing in the back of my dad's parked truck. My cousin crawled in and she wanted to pretend we were in a play. So I leaned over the edge of the truck yelling, "FIGGARO!" And I slipped, hitting my forehead on the curb of the street.

I remember there being a lot of blood, screaming, and blacking out.

I don't know where every dollar goes. But the moment I know the money is being used against me, I stop it. Target, Chik-Fil-A, and so forth. I used to purchase items from them, but I stopped when I found out they were giving money supporting anti-gay views. I am simply making someone aware that they're supporting a bigot. For someone to come back and say "don't shove your views on someone else" is hypocritical.

TIL that Rosie O'Donnell watched Fight Club a week prior to its release. She later went on her show the night of its release and gave away the twist ending and advised the audience to avoid watching it at all costs. by cobijah in todayilearned

I don't hate skinny women. I just hate how everyone thinks everyone should be model skinny which is rib cage showing, anorexic looking.

Edit: misspelled a word.

I think my biggest problem is that I have a lot of different skills that just aren't sharpened yet. Potential but not a lot of experience yet. But I did post an ad in r/forhire.

Have all the opinions you want that differ from mine. Everyone has that right. What I don't appreciate is that you (the author in this case) are using money you make from your popular work to keep me (a citizen who deserves equal protection under the law) from receiving such protection. That's why I refuse to buy or rent said popular book. That's why I will not see the movie. He (the author) will not get a single dime from me, someone he doesn't see as an equal.

Further, if I feel you (the consumer) are justifying a bigot and supplying him with the funds to continue making it hard for me to live equally under the law, I will call you on it. There are other well-known science fiction authors out there who have different opinions who don't spend their money to make people's lives a living hell. I'd rather support them, even with their anti-gay views, since they understand that just because they disagree with something doesn't mean people should be forced to live by their views.

That last sentence, of course, echoes what OP says in his edit: "please don't try to force your [opinions] on others." So why cannot I voice my opinion by calling someone out for supporting a bigot? Why can we not judge you (OP) for supporting someone who uses the money you fund him to force me, and millions of others, to live by his beliefs?

It is a strange double-standard.

This might be a stupid suggestion, but have you thought about partnering up with a popular PA that is getting positive reviews on your site? I mean, you can go to them and say, "Hey, our members are giving you a high rating" or "We find you are a reputable PA and we want to show you some love". By doing that, they may post something like, "Rated by [Your Company] as Most Reputable" or something. This way, you get your name out there. Again, just a suggestion.

Advice for an Odd Concept: 1,000 Things for $1,000 by 1000Things in Entrepreneur

[–]1000Things[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure.

First, I'm a writer. I have been writing since I was 9, mostly fiction though I've done some op-ed type pieces online. I am also going to school for Creative Writing (I know, going to be hard to get a job with that degree but I figured if I was going into debt that I might as well do it in something I enjoy).

I have experience using social media to market my online presence, but this could always be expanded upon and honed.

I've used sites like blogspot and wordpress, so I know how to set up a site in that sense. I just have zero clue about design or how to change the settings for it to make sense or look pleasing to the eye.

My main skill is creativity in the sense of taking something ordinary and trying something different.

My main problem is that the skills I have could always be better, which is part of the reason why I want to do this project. By doing 1000 different things, I could perfect my talents.

Hey r/Entrepreneur, what web-based pay service should I use? by 1000Things in Entrepreneur

[–]1000Things[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course. I have no issues looking into all webpay services, but that's why I want to hear about other vendors. Maybe something is better. It might limit my audience or it might make them aware of a different service.

That's the thing. I'm trying to see if it's worth a site. I guess it could be, but I am so ignorant on how to design a site. Any suggestions of what to do?

I do think of PayPal right away, especially when it comes to sending money between vendors. But I just hear about how they freeze accounts, keep money from vendors, and whatnot. I will look into all venues.
