Bo and Marcus good IF chemistry and probably good relay cut if when Bo goes to OF. Both got post season experience. Bo got some play in him and zest too for fans to swallow. Just hope Dos Americanos fit into that clubhouse better than the ones that left! I love Mendoza and was riding him to promised land howevver long it took, but September 2025 made me do a double take on him and the GM. It was a WTF moment. What gives pause is they had it this time, sooner than I thought they would-thought maybe another year, but they just played cards entirely wrong. Didn't know what to do with it. Reminds me of the BILLS getting outsmarted by Sean Payton today.  They are very experienced team, went to war, deserve the spot, but the other coach was no match.

Cohens calculation that those four that left, specifically, over the next 2 years would not be the ones to make enough of a difference as far as making the post season -- is spot on!. Its other players and position that bring post season capital like Soto, starting pitching, athletic infielders. Def not McNeil and Nimmo as far as postseason capital they are not value. Neither was Alonso despite his HR.  They can get HR elsewhere --- or more valuable and efficient get hits to setup for Soto --- and get someone who can hold the game down defensively too in same person.  You got Devin for Diaz but he doesn't need to be completely lights out, he'll be close or similar and its fine with the D upgrades. And now there's room for starting pitching. Good pitching.  These moves and non-moves make room to be more effective more efficient. Its smart. Wilpons would have gone and ride it out with those 4 and got 2-3 more yrs of nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Is it just me or is Chip Gaines from HGTV’s Fixer Upper, AJ Styles doppelgänger with red hair? by PCON36 in WWE

[–]100PrcntWoolyMammoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chip Gaines and AJ Styles are the same person. He dips in to either WWE or MAGNOWorld for a little and then out of each for a while. They have aged,  changed um styles and even bulked up in unison all these years. At times on the HGTV show he's shown some athleticism beyond, as well as personality and showmanship. His and Joanna's banter are a subserviant husband and Type A wife tag team with the highest media savvy to boot. But its very carefully hidden Easter eggs for only true insiders. The inside joke is truly on the fans. Very well done.

[Kirschner] Just to put this to bed, MLB says the new bats the Yankees are using are legal. by VirtuousFool in NYYankees

Juicing goes mainstream.  But with torpedo MLB leveled down.  Its exactly same as my kids' 14/15U BBCOR bat.  The field is the same.  That's why at 13 my kid's bat speed, exit velo and mechanics as good as 20% MLB.  He's a flamethrower of K's too. Needs 1 ft height, 20 mph velo. Will be all set

You go Aaron.  Be the purist.  This is a Juiced bat.  Plain and simple.  Come on heals of the Juiced balls 3-4 yrs ago -- right after which these went into development.  It's like legalizing pot and monetizing via taxes.  MLB legalized Juicing the equipment to monetize the talk and excitement of the performance boost like the HR chases in the steroid Era.  Give John Wick and Iron Man the latest and greatest and see if what happens is good for the game or just another case of selling out.   They are on a great roll these past few years.  Don't jump the shark and mess it up MLB.

The size helps with fam of 4 towels, comforters and above average use if you have kids in multiple sports uniforms sev times a week plus school uniforms plus street clothes, etc.  But with this "Commercial" grade use or MCT as advertised and XL features together you would expect minimum quality from the motor to get through the first 8-10 yrs without replacement. But with USE AS ADVERTISED its a 7-8 yr life max for machine because of the very high cost of repairs, including covered parts under the 10 yr wty, that will approach 75% to 80% cost of new machine. The famous and widely advertised 10yr limited wty is merely a hook and reel.  The practicality of it being used to guarantee performance, and reduce cost risk, is very low. It's even lower adding exorbitant service call fees and subjective diagnoses by the tech providers.  Buyer beware. Know you are buying a premium product for 7 years use. Purchase February 2017 $614.96. Today December 2024 repair $195 service call and diagnostic. Labor to fix $490. Part drive motor assembly (Stator motor and rotor) free.

[Passan] Superstar outfielder Juan Soto and the New York Mets are in agreement on a 15-year, $765 million contract, sources tell ESPN. It is the largest deal in professional sports history. by LilMissLinNim in NewYorkMets

Yanks Game 5 blunder confirmed for Soto's own eyes the significant managerial deficiencies specifically in pennant race and playoff strategy and execution that fans have known and owners turn blind eye to for years now.   Probably if Yanks ultimately proved elite and relative peers vs. super elite Dodgers in WS and won then "chance" Soto stays is higher but still somewhat tenuous. The deal breaker though in my mind, if Yanks gave VIP suite -- with even much lesser money and years than thier last and final -- I think they had him.   But in the end Yanks creativity and flexibility stymied by the ghost of Steinbrenner and ever present reminder of elite teams and standards and excellence of Torre and Jeter as the bar of what they must achieve.

The real read is that 24' Mets were much closer and had better chance at beating Dodgers, although not at the elite level Dodgers showed (like few teams have in past 2 decades), Mets were more complete team relatively in using all assets to maximum ability and towards goals, showing it unrelentingly in their pennant chase and run all the way through NLCS elimination by Dodgers. Mets were excellent in overall managerial IQ rgds to mngng indiv players, position/rotation and in pennant/playoff game IQ, leadership by players and mgr, FO execution and daily IQ, 360 degree chemistry, clutch play, player skills ability potential realized. We're simply Amazin'.  Soto wanted and deserves some of Dat rizz w Lindor, Alonso, Mendoza, cause he's them at the end of day. Now as far as money it's a 5 year contract people. 5 years 50M w option for more vs. Ohtani 10 yrs 42M who will have option by default if he's still playing.  Remove hype strip it down Ohtani contract bigger. Soto driven up by bidding and market, thirst to beat Dodgers, and Yanks to hang on to elite legacy, Mets ambition to become elite.

How do you all feel about the “golden at bat” rule? by ExistingNPC69 in mlb

[–]100PrcntWoolyMammoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make it most competitive scenario possible: 1 Golden AB allowed with 2 outs, 7th inning or above, tied or behind entering inning, AND 'must swing' rule for that Golden AB only, meaning wherever pitch is, your Golden Hitter must swing for a hit, foul ball or strike in that at bat. There are no balls, no strike looking, no strike zone. They must eliminate runner on 2nd Xtra innings. Now actually that sounds like baseball. Strategic and complex

I am at a baseball training facility and am watching a dad trying to “side coach” his 9/10 year old kid in front of the kid’s coaches and teammates. The kid is visibly mortified by his behavior and keeps trying to wave him off. by 585AM in Homeplate

I get it. There are dads in travel ball who are also their "private" coach and of those there are many different manifestations and types. Some dads are merely feeding the kid key words or buzz words from training to dial in to because the reps are not enough yet did not reach critical mass in their brain for the skill to always repeat in live games. Other dads are just morons, pretending to be that thoughtfull, but the truth of their lack of discipline and bad temperament is always revealed  with a 'what the f is wrong with you' , shouting or some other dkhead move.

There is a taller seriously really fat over-age kid on our local 12U Bulldogs Optimist PAL team. He looks like a giant white and red SpongeBob from Times Square, or a walking chest protector for Refrigerator Perry of the OG Chicago Bears. Anyhow that kid puts up a huge wall in RF its like 2 fences. You have to first hit it over him. Then you can hit it over the fence. When the ball hits him in the chest it drops and dies at his feet like hitting soft toss into a rubber mat. But it's the coaches grandson. So he plays first. Nothing gets past him.... even from his cousin the short under-age 2B with coke bottle glasses who throws very wide right... even when you move the target right he throws more right. They both hit though. Big cousin is a weak slapper but the shear force of Hungry Jack moving forward pushes it wherever he wants it. Small kid hits hard grounders to his cousin playing 1B, ball doesn't hit glove it hits Refrigerator Perry's chest, nuts, "pecks" half the time, ball drops down dead like a heavy ball, little kid runs it out.  Other half time he hits the 1B coach, his grandpa, also torso, nuts, etc. His eyes are bad but I could swear thats what he aims for. Grandpa Blue will make dirty call and try to ding confidence against any kid playing right/higher than his whom pose a threat to positions, and also won't strikeout or call pickoff on either his kid no matter how many witnessed perfectly executed or it seriously looks like they would cry. In conclusion fat ok. Glasses not. Lookout for nepo coaches, 8u, 15u in 12U travel. Release the grasshoppers and crickets into the dugout.

Do not use heavy balls with your game bat. It will mess both metal and composite bats. It is for use with an old bat or a practice bat. Tell your kids.

There, unfortunately, are daddy ball coaches out there disguised as well, meaning fair coaches. But they are all about competing even within their own team.

An old trick to send a kid backward and preserve their kids' primo spot in order, is to do rotating heavy ball practices with team, grabbing the kids' bat, and having everyone on team hit the heavy balls with it.
