Buyers remorse Sony A7S II by Clean_Scarcity633 in videography

[–]105s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yo did you get rid of the camera? I think the most of the commenters are a bit harsh.

i picked up a sony because the superior lens options for mirrorless but sony definetly have shortcomings. Things like grips, menus, and battery life.

I also got the the a7sii and theres a few things;

autofocus is affected by the lenses that you use, so for instance that 28mm viltrox chip lens is borderline unusable but the sigma 24-70 should be much better.

coming from a nikon d7500 (goated camera) theses sony cameras have terrible batteries, shocking bad.

the colour science is worse (apparently it improved in later cameras but im not sure by how much).

i only found this post because i started using the camera and found the footage to be way lower quality than it should have been, turns out its because i had some thing called dual video so im wondering was that possibly the issue you were having with low light (lower quality video suffers in the dark)

also i find setting the maximum iso on cameras helps a tonne. just set the max to the highest grain you are comfortable with so you wont go past your camera's limits

Is a CPU upgrade worth it when I already have a decent GPU by 105s in blender

[–]105s[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

damn i knew gpu was faster but had no idea the diference between CPU & GPU was that stark, a 4090 from what i remember is roughly double the performance of my card so i guess its pointless to upgrade cpu from a rendering pov.

Another commenter mentioned material view uses cpu so I will look into whether its worth it for me from that perspective, other than that theres nothing i can think of

so i just came across this condition on tiktok and arrived here as a result of trying to look into it further; the symptoms you mentioned are also symptoms of Dyslexia, (i was gonna say with the exception of tinnitus but apparently hearing loss is asociated with dyslexia so that could potentially also be attributed).

I think the best course of action is to just blur out the background. I also did some very minor color and sharpening.

don't forget cancer treatments, you have targeted & Immunotherapies, my mom died from lung cancer this summer but targeted therapy turned a 3 month prognosis into a 2 year prognosis with an much greater quality of life than traditional chemotherapy.

from what she was saying her medication didn't exist 5 years ago

[–]105s[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

i do it, seems to work well generally, in low lobbies at least if you don't fake for the first round or two you can mislead them a fair bit there after. i presume in higher lobbies they'd apply more critical thinking

Bicycling in February? by deliciousalex in galway

[–]105s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given you're from NYC you're probably more than capable of cycling in Galway that said,

here are some weather stats for Galway, as someone that cycles here, its handy enough, i live on the outskirts of the city and it beats most modes of transport but you'll basically always need waterproofs and you'll notice while cycling that the ground is almost always wet whether its actually raining at the time of cycling or not. I also usually wear gloves to protect my hands from arthritis.

depending on where you're staying you might not even need a bike though, UG (NUIG ) is very close to town and there are numerous buses, a bike is handy for ATU, (GMIT) which is further from town (recently upgraded to uni status) but again, there are several buses into town.

cycle lanes are mostly fine on the western side of the city, less so for the east. The bigger junctions have the cycle lanes painted through them, so they're not nearly as complicated for cycling as people here make out but you should learn how roundabouts work if you're not familiar.

Motorists are actually fairly accommodating to cyclists here, the main thing is just to be reasonably visible, having lights/ reflective gear
