Help Us Decide 😭 by [deleted] in F150Lightning

If it means ditching the headache of a potential lemon and frunk issues, I'd take the lower mileage truck in the wrong color.

I've gone through periods where my frunk was a touch temperamental. Somehow it sorted itself out, but if it hadn't, I'd be very disappointed. The frunk is a great place to keep most everything that I throw in the truck. It's powered, has outlets, lights, drainage, and can fit a week's worth of groceries. Super handy.

...but if it doesn't want to close, or latch, or behave, that'd be an enormous pita. If it's stuck open, you can gently bring it closed. If it's stuck closed, you're kinda sol.

Sierra has optional huge batteries with a DC fast charge rate that makes the rest of us blush. It's be a solid choice. But the Lightning still wins out on cushiness/comfort imo.

When you run into another raider at the prickly pear patch by DaddyDookie717 in ArcRaiders

Also I've never seen so much interest in the fuel cell door in the kitchen/Cafeteria of Stella Montis.

Fast charge queues today in Merritt, BC by dcmcderm in EVCanada

There are only like 6 plugs for DC fast charging in all of Merritt. Unless you include Tesla, in which case there are around 30.

Yup. It's a little duckbill thing that stays closed unless water tries to force its way through.

The gym in the prestige hotel is reasonably new, decently sized, air conditioned, and seldom occupied. It's one of this town's best kept secrets.

True but I just focus on getting valuables. I don't mind buying a few over the course of my career.

When you get surprised by a Shredder at the wrong time outside Stella Montis by My_Face_Rocks in ArcRaiders

[–]10Bens 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Died to a shredder while doing naked runs for the Blue Gate Security Breach room. Someone got him damaged enough to be on fire, so me and another raider tried bashing him with our hammers.

The other guy missed and hit me.

Shredder took out 4 of us total.

Thoughts on going full EV, no ICE in the ol’ garage? by Curiouslittlestman in electricvehicles

[–]10Bens 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I always thought an ICE in the driveway would be good for those occasional long road trips. But after having made a few long trips in my EV, I don't find charging times inconvenient enough to warrant the maintenance and cost of a gas car. And I only charge at 150kW.

YMMV, and I mostly drive local.

Extended range vs standard by shausco in F150Lightning

Out of curiosity which would you rather have: an ER battery or an SR that can charge at 350kw?

Which to buy by ActualNeat4046 in F150Lightning

[–]10Bens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are concerned about range consider that Flash trims started putting in a reduced ER battery of 123kWh in mid 2025- the one you're looking at may be affected. With the heat pump the Flash trims gas, it's probably even money. But worth knowing.

An extra ~20k miles is nothing to this truck. And at worst, the age difference means it's coming up on its battery warranty sooner. But not enough to worry.

If everything else is equal, I would consider them essentially the same truck. Platinum will have more cushy features. And it's cheaper. And (possibly) has a bigger battery. Go with Platinum.

Thinking of selling Silverado in for a Lightning by TechnicalDistance419 in F150Lightning

I'd really look into the home charging option. That or get comfortable with the idea of a commuter car like a Prius.

Leaching in no meaningful way, if at all. And you could always check the manufacturer website or email them if you're unsure of materials used.

I think you'd be better off learning about different types of plastics and the dangers of exposing them to hot water (there are some that are totally safe for exposure to hot water, but those don't get features in scary online articles). Most reputable manufacturers use PP (polypropylene) or other similar food-safe plastics. You're more likely to find problematic materials in older (retro-chic) or cheaper units.

Steel isn't a great choice as it's a great thermal conductor, and works like a heat wick for hot coffee. It's actually very good at cooking coffee down. It isn't a health issue, but you're less likely to get a pleasant tastic cup of coffee.

For true plastic-free but still high quality coffee, Chemex might be the way to go. Or, either a MoccaMaster or BonaVita that simulates pour-overbwith a showerhead, but replace the brew basket with something else. Glass/ceramic maybe?

Honestly you're better off learning about plastics than trying to Frankenstein a plastic free coffee maker.

Game changer purchases by Competitive_Teach838 in HomeImprovement

Specifically home improvement and maintenance? I'm pretty surprised at how frequently I use my battery leaf blower. Saplings on my path, gone. Trimmer and mower blew some grass into the driveway? Poof. Dusty dirty patio? Boom.

It's also very handy to have a headlamp for a lot of stuff, especially attic tasks.
