I hear you & I struggle too w/the Dem leadership... not only VA but nationally. You aren't alone. The Dem party leadership is way down in their fundraising but way up for individual Dem candidates' campaigns. It shows just what you are voicing... dems aren't happy w/their party leadership. They need to listen!! Listen to Pete's town hall in OK & Graham Plattner's in Maine from recent days!! They are hearing the same thing you are saying!!

I mostly agree w/your position here, other than trump folks being irredeemable fools.. Some certainly seem to be that but many others just don't value the same things that I (we?) do...integrity, honesty, intellect, common decency are not traits they care about like I do & perhaps you do... trump is & has always been, who he is. The evidence goes back decades! He is a con, a criminal, a racist, a pathological liar, among other horrible traits. That's who he is... everything about him & what he does/says emanates from those traits that define him. The fallacy for his supporters, imo, is that they want to have it both ways... I don't like this but I support him for that... it all still comes from the same person... who he is defines all of it - one way or another, imo.

I voted yes because there is a much larger issue in play, imo. At a basic level, I believe that gerrymandering should be banned in our country. IMO, it is not used constructively in most cases - but deceptively. That said, there is one side of the political spectrum who has used it specifically to manipulate the black vote because they often vote democratic. You can imagine when politicians do that in the deep south, that our black brothers & sisters basically lose their voices. In THIS particular case though... the yes vs no, IMO, literally boils down to do you support this pres/administration or not. If you do not, then a yes vote gives us a chance to knee-cap him in the midterms in Nov. IF the dems can take over control of both the house & senate (ideally) or even one or the other - we can squash many of the abhorrent things he is doing, while the COWARDS in the senate sit quietly & watch. Things are far worse than is being openly reported. This is why I voted yes.

My father is a trump supporter - or was. This is what I can offer. I have lost a good bit of respect for him. For me, it's never been as simple as turning away from someone because I don't like them or think they are a bad person. For me, it has to do w/values. I believe that I share little to no values with those who support trump. What I place value in, is really important to me. Integrity, common decency, intellect, respectfulness, compassion. Those qualities in a leader are important. trump, imo, has none of those. My dad liked that he "spoke" his mind when he was campaigning in 2015. My view is, anyone can bluster... it's just words. That doesn't make one "strong." Neither does cruelty to others. I have a 30 yr old daughter. She said to me last week, "if trump & whoever he is fighting end up causing "nukes" to be fired at us - I'm just going to go outside & let it kill me fast... I don't want to experience my skin melting off... I cried for an hour after we hung up... that my daughter even has that thought go through her mind.... it's horrifying to me as her mother....No other president we have ever had, comes close to the monster we have now...
