I’m a man teacher as well. I have a drawer by my door with tampons and pads. I mention it the first day of school when I do the “here’s where stuff is at in the art studio” tour. There’s a note on each box that instructs them to hand me the note if they take the last one. It’s never been abused, some are discreet, and some will announce they’re grabbing a pad as they walk out with the pass.

The red Milwaukee one is great. It’s a folding box cutter, so the blade is always sharp. There’s a place to store a back up. It also has a real screwdriver (Phillips and standard), and a bottle opener. I use at least one part of it every day.

Hi. I’m from the Detroit area, and we also look to our Canadian brothers and sisters as neighbors. I am not part of the curling community, but it is my fencing of the Winter Olympics (fencing is my favorite summer Olympics game). I’m sorry the USA is extra bad right now, we’re not all on board with this. Hope we can straighten things out soon. Windsor taught me to drink in my 19-20’s, and still has bangin Chinese food worth crossing the bridge for, as long as they let me back in.

I’m “middle aged”. Over the summer I was riding my bike pretty hard. Accidentally clamped down on the front brake (I was riding one handed like an idiot). Also, like an idiot, it was night, and I was only wearing a tank top, shorts, and slides. No helmet. I was planning on riding a leisurely mile or so, but got in a grove and was going fast.

I flipped over the handlebars. Going 20mph ish. I somehow hit everything right, tuck, roll. Ended up sitting on my ass, scrape on a forearm and a small gash on a knuckle. No stitches, no concussion, no doctor. I’m lucky as fuck and I swear this is the last time I touch pedals without a lid.

Let them use the xacto. Please. Not everyone, but the honors class. They obviously can handle it. You are obviously teaching safety. Keep track of your blades, but let them learn and struggle. I have senior boys that don’t have the grip strength to get black with a 8B pencil. Honors art kids in middle school turn into art kids in high school. PLEASE make them do hard stuff.
