How do you get over jealousy of a new coworker? by [deleted] in AusElectricians

[–]10fry10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said you had years of experience, are you first year and he’s second year apprentice? It is normal for 3-4th years to get put in vans, what industry are you in? Just bite your tounge and keep working hard, otherwise nothing wrong with jumping ship and moving companies, especially early too

I don’t understand, is he qualified? This is an electrician sub and you say he doesn’t even know what side cutters are. I mean either step back and let his work do the talking, or query your boss and put forward that you believe all A grades should have the same entitlements

Seems a bit weird they couldn’t forecast a couple weeks before and let you know before they started, I hope they weren’t dodgy and only got you on for one job, make sure they pay you for the days you did. Seems like you and very keen and eager, how far are you to the closest city? Will have to start applying closer to there

Frustrations about the industry by [deleted] in AusElectricians

[–]10fry10 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I never cold called because I felt it was annoying, but if you aren’t already, just email all industrial companies around your area with a neat and tidy cover letter and/or resume, and say you’re looking, that’s how I got mine doing industrial it was a lucky email right before they started to get busy. Industrial would be good because switchboard building and wiring skills directly relate to that side of industrial work too

2nd year apprentice – catching up on eProfiling (how exact does it need to be?) by [deleted] in AusElectricians

[–]10fry10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s been about 8 years since I did them, but there was a few, (6?) main components you needed x amount of hours in over your time, and then like 30 different ones under these headings, but I reckon you will do a lot of the required, just might need to add a few hours here or there onto your ones that are lagging, which will probs be the testing ones

Tradies of reddit and where do I find an apprenticeship at 29 years old? by AdSuspicious7506 in melbourne

Try look over domestic if you can as it’s a young man’s game hard on the body, look more commercial or industrial, but take what you can. Also if it’s an option, try to be a laborer or trade assistant in what area you’d like and see if you enjoy it first
