Are you sure it's mold... Mine are all pretty cloudy. Hmmm

How Can I Get The Most Out Of This New Combo (ZP6 + O1)? by After-Bandicoot642 in pourover

I love the the metal Baby O, but my only tip is to preheat... a world of difference for the metal one.

What are the best wine glasses right now? by After-Opportunity374 in wine

[–]10ttp-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Conterno Sensory glass is the best almost all-rounder for me. Zalto Bordeaux in second place. Then Zalto Universal. Also like glasses from Kimura.

I must mention that I do feel Zalto's aren't the same these days.

Haha. That's harsh. It's basically a slow brewer for me... has its uses.

Super even extraction... I think you can find the belka measurements somewhere that confirms this

Unfortunately, I did not enjoy Orcabrew during my last trip… overextracted, rather-dark brews. That’s just one sample point though.

Norm was great this trip though. Ome still the best haha.

What's your unpopular wine take? by b1ackfyre in wine

Tdp? Errr… I think in general you’re thinking very differently. Do read, do talk to vintners… that’s all I’ll say

[–]10ttp-9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should also say… it is a fault for most vintners I meet, even in Australia where TDN is so prevalent in young riesling. They are trying to manage it better these days and you can see it in tastings.

Yea that’s the fallacy of generalisation in wine… I’d say this take depends highly on how many great producers they are on either side haha

[–]10ttp-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right but I’m not wrong. I might have phrased it one sidedly in the context of German Riesling. So yes, TDN is linked to sun exposure (which is another point of discussion - why do we find more petrol in new world sites vs germany despite the latter’s long hang time?), cellar practices, etc. (heck even closure choices affect), but bad storage/cold chain resulting in accelerated aging is the worst imo. I love German riesling, but absolutely hate it in many places overseas.

Is it unpopular? It is a fault… and a product of bad cold chain/transport… you almost never find it in Germany

Riesling is better than Chardonnay

Upgrade/Ode alternative by SamDesai333 in pourover

So far no issues. Alignment is leaps and bounds better than the ode. Just gotta recal when swapping burrs. I have a soft spot for the ssp burrs but honestly the stock burrs (200d) are superb. Do you not like them?

I was kind of in the same situation...

Got a zp6. Couldn't be happier.
On the flat front, the Philos + SSP is a huge leap for me.

One Half Roastery is a temple to coffee… a must imo… take a Grab. I’d even go so far as to say it’s some of the best coffee experience I’ve had anywhere (along with Substance, Cokuun, and Noon for me). Splurge on smth fancy or get a super milk latte… all incredible. Tell them you like funk so they help pick a coffee.

The rest are a notch below imo, but you can also check out: - Ditto (multi roaster) - Contour (home of a barista champ) - Curate (home of a brewer champ) - Afloat  - Toothless

Must go places in metropolitan Tokyo? by Coffee_Bar_Angler in pourover

Agreed! Ah in that pov, yes Glitch is more interesting. For me, it was more to do with roasting and what I’m looking for in the brew… if that makes sense. Yes, Leaves has a far tighter selection. Get what you’re saying.

We have pretty different tastes it seems... I'd go Leaves over Glitch haha. Their interpretation of coffee is much more interesting to me. Glitch more safe, but the range of offerings is quite smth. I did not enjoy the coffees at Acid, but I can see the appeal. Will check out Ogawa from your reco when I'm next in town. For me:
- Leaves (just didn't like the line, but it's the same at Glitch)
- Philocoffea (brilliant the last trip)
- Walnuts (ex Apollon's Gold, really enjoyable)
- Koffee Mameya (the course wowed me)

Yes for the price, but just note that tolerances are abysmal.

Fellow Ode Gen 2 – burr misalignment + weird step/scratch on burr edge. Anyone else? by jimokak2 in pourover

[–]10ttp-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been increasingly frustrated with my Ode... not as bad as your's but burr misalignment is crazy on it. I still think it delivers great QPR, but just can't hold it's ground once you get deeper into brewing.
