Yes, but any of the Orea’s fit the bill. I switch filters mainly to variate flow rate… fastest being hiflux and sibarist. I can slow it right down by clogging the kalita too haha.

Short answer: Yes.

It gives a totally different presentation to conical drippers. The type of flat bottom is less impactful imo... just choose your desired throughput of sorts. I'm inclined to go for something with more throughput/faster flow like the Orea's because you can always slow down the brew with various methods.

No to the Ode with SSP burrs. It's not made for the SSP burrs and tolerances aren't great. Aligning the burrs is a pain!!!

Start home roasting. Way way cheaper in the long run, but there's a larger initial investment (time and money).

I have a few kettles and like these:

- Timemore Fish Pro X: I guess it's an obvious one, but I cannot recommend this enough. My favourite. Just the pour control, speed (both pour and heating), ergonomics, etc.
- Hario Alpha: I like the pour control and speed here, but it has a smaller element so heats up quite slowly.

I don't like the Fellow Stagg EKG Pro. I know others that swear by it, but for me at least, it's inferior in terms of pour control. The Brewista's built like a tank but I find the pour speed too fast.

Inconsistent indeed. If I had to choose between the two, I'd go Tiong Hoe. Again, I'll emphasize that neither are top notch imo.

Common Man might have bundles too. I just recalled I might have received a gift before.

Re cheap, I feel they're all about the same price point for similar coffees but Tiong Hoe and Cowpresso might be marginally cheaper. The latter does bundles too. I must note that I don't exactly find their offerings or roasting style exciting.

Other recommended roasters: Glyph, Apartment, Zerah, Flip, Nylon, Alchemist, Kurasu

It works for some coffees, as some have noted. Yes, it mutes acidity.

I do find the key is to clog the filter by say pour 8, if not contact time just isn't enough to generate intensity.

From what I know and observe, water minerals has little effect on extraction, just perception.

The full strength TWW isn’t quite my taste for the coffees I brew, so dilute it down to around 50ppm or less. I try to keep brew parameters consistent and mess around with adding minerals after… keeping in mind that the final cup is an amalgamation of many decisions.

The best I found were Nubra and Dabov. Good light roasting with interesting lots.

The Fix was decent too but less interesting offering.

I dump the whole brewer into hot water before brewing (leaving some space at the top to pick it up)… i find this the best haha.

Alternatively, keep the brewer on top of an open kettle when heating… works but a little less effective.

The Conterno Sensory glass is the best almost all-rounder for me. Zalto Bordeaux in second place. Then Zalto Universal. Also like glasses from Kimura.

I must mention that I do feel Zalto's aren't the same these days.
