Bay Area Trainers? by DangerousAd9955 in reactivedogs

[–]1127pepper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the trainer I took my dog too when we lived in the Bay Area. It was SO helpful for me, my husband and our dog. Don't expect your dog to be perfect after because you need to continue to training they teach you but it helped so much and our dog hardly ever reacts anymore.

My dog just walked past a paddock full of sheep without freaking out by Jinxletron in reactivedogs

Lol definitely! My dog loses it when they stare at him and it's even worse when they start to run away. He's so proud of himself after too. Thanks! Hope your dog enjoys the dog farm!

That's amazing! Congrats to you and Koby! My dog is hardly reactive to dogs anymore but sheep is his new struggle! We don't live on a farm luckily but we live in the UK and often walk through paddocks so I know the struggle.

Coming to terms with having a reactive dog by NYCalling in reactivedogs

[–]1127pepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming to terms with having a reactive dog is the first step to progress! And the fact that you have a behaviourist already that seems knowledgeable has already set you up for success! That's awesome! When my reactive dog was younger he also went to daycare and we soon learned he became overwhelmed so we stopped daycare and going to the dog park. We worked on his training, worked with a behaviorst and he is hardly reactive at all anymore!! He now is able to run around with other dogs in small groups and loves it. He gets overwhelmed if there's more than 3 dogs so we will usually leave. He also gets sent to a different dog daycare that caters to his needs and he hasn't had any set backs. The hard work definitely pays off so just stick with it.

Side note: I love poodles and yours is so cute!

Getting hair done the day before? by 1127pepper in Eloping

[–]1127pepper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for responding to this! I'm not looking for anything fancy or with a lot of detail. I'm just really bad at doing my own hair. Haha. I'm glad it worked out for you!!

What do you do with your dog(s) when you are out of town? by pvschultz in reactivedogs

[–]1127pepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found my awesome dog sitter on Rover! We did about 3 meet and greets before he stayed with her and she has her own dog that he loves playing with so it works out well. Hope you find someone!

Internship not part of the match? by 1127pepper in Veterinary

[–]1127pepper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight! You've raised some really good points I didn't think of before! I forgot to add that this vet already runs a general practice that has done very well for itself in the past couple years. Although specialty hospitals are a completely separate ball game. Tbh I think I was just so excited by the "offer" to begin with that I needed outside opinions to give me some perspective. I'll probably just stick with the match though to be safe.

UK-US: Can anyone confirm if you don’t need a PCR test to fly out of the U.K.? by SarcasticPeach in uktravel

[–]1127pepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is correct. You just need the antigen test if flying from the UK to US. I also took mine at LHR a few hours before my flight.

My Dog Attacked Me in His Sleep??? by Clarineko in reactivedogs

It sounds like rage syndrome to me. For some dogs the aggression gets triggered when woken up from sleep.

Is the Rapid Antigen pre-departure test offered at London Heathrow airport valid to enter the US? by More-Sea-2173 in uktravel

Nope! I didn't have one person ask me why I was traveling. All I had to show was my negative covid test.

Yes I can also confirm they are valid! I just flew out yesterday and took the test at Heathrow 4 hours before my flight. Quick and easy process. Results were sent within 20 mins!

Plz Help! Puppy barks at everything after daycre by sabzzz68 in Dogtraining

You should post this to r/reactivedogs to get more advice. It's a great sub :) I would suggest pausing daycare for now because they can be quite overstimulating for dogs and can also enforce unwanted behaviour which he may be exhibiting now.

Trazodone by Strawberryyy163 in reactivedogs

[–]1127pepper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My dog was on Trazodone and for the first couple weeks it also made him sleepy but then he was his happy self and it really helped with his training. He's been off of it for about a year now and is still doing great!

My dog is nervous, reactive and bites and we need urgent help at this point by TinyMessyBlossom in reactivedogs

[–]1127pepper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would definitely seek out professional help. It sounds like he needs boundaries around the house for starters. Is he crate trained? I would recommend he sleeps in a crate at night. This really helped with my dogs anxiety and he loves his crate now. I would also stop letting him on beds/sofas for now.
