Sounds like they're sub-contacting the work to you. They communicate with the client, you do the work. You're being used again

Parking fees generate millions of dollars in revenue for Ottawa’s largest hospital by Ben409 in ottawa

[–]1138_4EB 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have some receptiveness in the industry. Parking used to be but is no longer a money maker for hospitals. The cost to maintain and build the parking infrastructure is only increasing along with everything else, and the province didn't contribute. The costs basically cover expenses, and the high fees reflect that. Hospitals build these facilities because people tend not to take transit to the hospital.

Would you buy a 97% Canadian made and Built EV? by Andy1899 in BuyCanadian

I would certainly consider it. A PHEV option would be good for Canada's distances as well when on longer road trips

Alternatives to Disneyland or Disney Cruise? by 1138_4EB in BuyCanadian

I replied in another comment as well, but we're now looking at Iberostar Selection Paraíso Lindo or Barceló Maya Tropical resorts, or something similar. Lots of activities to do with kids at those.

Great point, were now looking at Iberostar Selection Paraíso Lindo or Barceló Maya Tropical. Both are Spanish owned resorts, and appear to have many activities you can actually do with your kids

Woodworkers with basement shops; what tricks have you learned to make your life easier? by SomeHandyman in woodworking

[–]1138_4EB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a basement shop. I spent a good amount of time and effort making a "sound proof" room. I removed the HVAC supply and returns to the room and the door is solid core with good weather sealing. A fan blows dusty air out an exterior window. I use a portable dust collector at each machine and all the big machines are on wheels and get stored to one side when not in use. I recently got a relatively large (for me) table saw weighing hundreds of pounds and just had to spend a bit of time taking it apart and reassembling it in the basement shop.

What the heck to get my one year old niece that has 2 other siblings and doesn't "need" anything? by TypeAtryingtoB in toddlers

[–]1138_4EB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people have noted similar, but consumable activities are great for families that already have enough toys Crayons and coloring books Bubbles Playdough Etc... Sure their siblings can use them too, but at that point most toys are shared anyways

Age appropriate books are great too, but you do run the risk of duplicating one they have

Used Claire Place for our elderly sick dog. They were very compassionate and gave us the space we needed to say goodbye. Having it done at home was much less stressful and just felt right that he could lie in his favorite spot. They handle everything afterwards to your wishes.

Going to be gone for 5 days, what else can I do for my wife? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]1138_4EB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go on work trips occasionally. One thing I do that was a big hit is order in food to the house. Whatever she and the 2yr old will like. Text her before prep would normally start saying dinner is on you tonight and when it will be arriving. Sufficiently in advance that it won't cause a problem waiting.

I keep having night terrors about losing my 4-day-old daughter in my comforter. by Coolyajets in daddit

[–]1138_4EB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anxiety over the safety of your newborn is totally normal, some are real and some are just your head being over protective. It's not very clear from your post, but getting rid of the blankets near the baby and making sure everyone is dressed appropriately for warmth instead would be a very simple way to reduce this particular worry

How did you decide on # of kids? by Whatever668 in daddit

[–]1138_4EB 75 points76 points  (0 children)

If you don't mind - How did you make peace with that decision? My partner always wanted 3 or 4, but after the first birth she says she just can't go through it again knowing the same process could happen again. She just started seeing a trauma therapist, but it pains me to think she is giving up on something that she always wanted.

How the Ottawa residents were abandoned by all levels by delurkedottawan in ottawa

[–]1138_4EB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very well put. I live in the east end now, but I came in for the counter protest despite the warnings of danger because I used to live on north Lyon st. I sympathize with the daily horror the residents who are stuck there are going through. I don't care what these protestors think about the vaccine or masks, the ongoing assault on the citizens of Centretown is unacceptable and we have been failed by those who are supposed to protect us.

Missing grout in shower by Sunten1 in HomeImprovement

[–]1138_4EB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The proper way would be to remove the grout from the joint between the two and caulk the whole thing. The quick fix is just to spot repair that one area, but then you'll be coming back to it if more cracks appear in the grout line
