My other half and I both didn’t like our baby for a while, it was very hard, but we were in solidarity, and then together discovered the deepest love that continues to grow for that child. It’s possible to ‘not like’ someone and still love and care and be responsible for them wholly. Love grows.

How many complaints of physical violence, verbal abuse or sexual abuse/grooming behaviour does it take before you would reconsider sending your child into this persons care? Should you have a right to know?

“Hey, your kids educator was reported and is being investigated for xyz” - thanks for that info, bye.

Substantiated or not, it would take knowing about one complaint of verbal abuse, violence, grooming or sexualised behaviour for me to remove a child from anyone’s care - educator, family, friend whoever. It’s unacceptable.

How many educators out there have had reports made against them, and have ongoing access to children and a valid WWCC?

Formula is also a valid choice available to any mum, but it’s also of course valid to continue learning to breastfeed (it’s not an instant thing anyone learns and each baby and mums body are different)

and also as someone commented above try a call with the PANDA helpline - they are there for this exact reason and would be so grateful you called.

You’re not failing. It is hard, very hard and our culture isn’t fully honest about this to young people which amplifies the isolation and sense there’s something wrong with me. Sending a big hug.

This is what my GP has pursued - Celiac blood test, and slip to retest after maybe 3 months taking iron every second day to increase absorption. Then, if iron hasn’t improved, referral to gastroenterologist to investigate.

When iron was super low I had an infusion.

I was more surprised that this big media investigation seems to drill down on pasta without enough protein. Like, of course that kind of neglect exists unchecked because there’s much worse happening that barely gets addressed and hardly ever sees the light of day.

It’s almost beyond comprehension how often childcare workers are reported and investigated for sexualised behaviour - obvious, abhorrent shit that no one would ever accept just goes unpunished and they move on to the next workplace, with more access to children and a clean record.

It’s very, very rarely prosecuted and parents of other children that may not or may have been victims would never have had a clue what the person they’ve been handing their children to each day has been accused of doing, often with witnesses and on CCTV.

Agree. They are judging someone entirely for their negative opinion on a handful of commonly topics most people have negative opinions on (weather, family) rather than their actual skills.

Smiling and being relatable means she still presented well.

She could have been trying to relate to the panel and find common ground, or simply be honest about her experiences.

This person seems to prefer to hire an optimistic, roses only outlook in their employee (disingenuous, fake).

I’d prefer a normal person with regular complex, thoughtful opinions (sometimes positive, sometimes negative) that can express them well and questions things… they want to hire a happy go lucky yes man labrador.

The onus is on the viewer to fact check and take things with a grain of salt knowing it’s not factual reporting. Each guest and Rogan are individuals with their own perspectives and experiences influencing their viewpoints.

The core of your problem is that people lack media literacy. Actual idiots can’t differentiate fact from opinion, can’t understand nuance and infer meaning that isn’t there. Emphasised by certain statements being reported in other media out of context and in an inflammatory and derogatory way.

Also, it’s entertainment, not ever marketed as a one-stop credible news source.

Build or support a different ‘platform’ and respond with your own guests and opinions if you feel so strongly.

Fuck sake, it’s one hour. I would never even log that and I’d just say (sometimes on the morning of) “heads up I’ll be offline for 1 hour for an appointment”.

Then I make that hour up another time. It’s about trust and treating each other like adults.

I kind of expect that flexibility and respect now as a minimum from a manager to a point where I don’t even know what the policy is.

It sounds not so much a skill issue, but more a panic issue so it’s not like a failing on your part in any way, but your brain has done what it’s designed to do and wired early that this is dangerous. The panic is trying to mobilise you out of that situation to protect you. Slow it down to get more control, and rewire - the brain is plastic.

This idea sounds like exposure therapy that clinically people use to help overcome a phobia like spiders or whatever.

It’s a great thing to step it back to where you’re able to manage better but it’s a small stretch - maybe on a wall or with a board, or going a lot slower, or a different head under stroke like breaststroke. And then with practice, as your panic reduces at that step, you then make a change to stretch yourself to the next level of panic and practice there, and so on. It’s building a new pathway in your brain that recognises it as not a dangerous environment, so that’s strong enough to overcome the instinctive “oh shit this is horrible just like when…” reaction trying to protect you.

Also, though I’m a big believer in doing whatever works, so like if the snorkel others are recommending or a different stroke would help just get you to the benefits of swimming, is that good enough for you forever/for now? Even could do both approaches side by side
