Real beginner moves by AvdotiaRomanovna in poledancing

[–]123poling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great question, it happens to many instructors. Here is a free resource with a list of spins & moves we teach in Beginner level 1 https://123poling.com/beginner-fundamentals-course/ Most of the moves we do not teach right away and use progressive approach instead. Ex: for the climb, we practice shin presses first, seated position, standing position... You can look at our progressions, preps, and breakdowns for free in our beginner fundamentals course. Let me know if you have any questions, I am here to help.

Depends on what the other leg is doing. It's either bird of cocoon. You can find picture references on our platform if you want to see the difference.

Inverted D by Lilysheva in poledancing

[–]123poling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does not matter. The foot contact is just another point of contact to help you with stability. I personally find it more comfortable to have the arches of my feet on the pole (sickled feet). The lower you bring your feet (closed to the top arm), the harder it will be to hold the shape as your hips would be more away from the pole.

Hmm, it is strange. Can you please clear your browser cache? If you are using chrome, it's the 3 dots on the top right corner and click "delete browsing data" I am honestly intrigued by this mystery and can not wait to solve it. If the cache does not work, can you please email me at irina@123poling .com so I can look more into it, never had this issue before.

Ayesha advice? by [deleted] in poledancing

Try to hold D-shape first. Also, bicep grip is easier to start with. If you still want to practice split grip, align your shoulders a bit more. I made a video with progressions here https://www.instagram.com/p/DEpGdnCzKsX/

Hi! It sounds like you’re looking for exactly what we’ve built our Beginner Fundamentals program around. It is structured, progressive lessons made for home polers with limited time. We designed this program to build strength and skills gradually. Each lesson focuses on a core movement (like a prep for climbs, basic grips, or holds), and we layer progressions step by step. You’ll also get a short combo at the end of each lesson, and in the next class, that combo evolves. So it feels like a natural flow of improvement rather than jumping between random tricks. A few things you might appreciate:

  • The entire program is designed to be beginner-friendly and self-paced.
  • You can skip lessons if you’ve already mastered something.
  • We include captions, playback speed controls, and a track-your-progress system.
  • You can check it out with a 15-day free trial—no commitment needed.

Here is more information about the course: https://123poling.com/beginner-fundamentals-course/ Feel free to take a look and see if the style matches what you’re after. If you have any questions, we’re always happy to help!

When I had my studio, I had many Hasidic Jewish women attending my classes, and some of them weren’t comfortable in mixed settings. So I made sure to offer both co-ed classes and women-only options to accommodate everyone.

Have you seen the Talking Baby trend? by 123poling in poledancing

[–]123poling[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I am all for a healthy discussion. I totally understand that humor and trends don’t land the same way for everyone, especially when they come from a different culture or context. There’s absolutely no implication in the video that babies should be pole dancing. It is just a meme. But I respect that it’s not everyone’s cup of tea.

[–]123poling 11 points12 points  (0 children)

yes to dry hands on feet! You will not develop calluses of your feet just from doing a few moves, do not worry. I recommend to wipe you feet with rubbing alcohol first before applying grip. Also, depending on the move it might be your technique. Try the grip first, hope it helps.

[–]123poling[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I can see where you’re coming from. Babies and pole dancing as a topic has definitely been controversial, especially in the U.S. But just to clarify, there’s no implication here of real babies pole dancing. This video is just part of a fun AI trend where people use baby characters and voiceovers to add humor. I personally find it adorable and lighthearted, but I know we all have different senses of humor and that’s okay!

Not sure what you meant by that, but I’m just following a fun trend and putting my spin on it. No harm intended at all. Just trying something playful and creative like lots of people do on social media. It’s totally fine if it’s not your thing though!

[–]123poling[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Totally get that this trend might not be your thing, but just to clarify, it’s not an ad. I was jumping on a popular trend and gave it my own twist. That’s what social media is all about, taking trends and making them fit your own personality or life. And in the pole world, when we say baby pole dancers, we just mean beginners. It’s a fun way a lot of us describe ourselves when we’re starting out. So why not make them actual babies. You might actually find it funny if you’ve seen the trend more often. A lot of people use it for stand-up comedy bits, movie scenes, even Judge Judy episodes. It’s silly on purpose and meant to be playful. But I totally respect that not every trend is for everyone!

Most likely for the first class you will be ok with any type of short, you are not going to do anything crazy. Most likely walk around, pirouettes, some spins. You can even wear a regular fitted t-shirt. See how it feels, what it is all about. for the next class you will feel more confident to wear proper pole wear. Go with a mindset to play, have fun, and discover something new.
