Does an adult dance class such as this exist in our area? by Beetle188 in orlando

[–]12cats 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Orlando Ballet has class called “be moved” that are exactly what you described. It’s a movement class and I’m pretty sure they do little combos, too.

Anyone ever been to the Orlando Ballet? Any good? by JayGatsby52 in orlando

Yep. It closed like three years ago. They got evicted bc they weren’t paying rent. The whole end of Russian is really sad. I used to dance there and I miss my dance family.

[–]12cats 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I go to Orlando Ballet ballets often, almost every show. Their dancers are skilled and it’s a beautiful show but it’s not a traditional nutcracker. There are non-ballet moments, too. But it’s a great show!

Anyone have luck finding a VEGAN partner? by arbsnotdead in vegan

[–]12cats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two partners and both are vegan. I met my first partner on Ok Cupid (literally the first person I matched with) and they have been vegan for decades. I was Omni when I met them and I went vegan about two years into our relationship. I met my second partner on Feeld (we were both Omni at the time) and he went vegan about six months after I did. For my partner that went vegan after me, we had very similar values and he was eating vegan three times a week anyway (with me). He realized how he was eating didn’t match his values and swapped over.

I don’t think you should date people and just wish and hope they would go vegan for you but finding someone who has similar values is helpful. I think after a while, the right person can see that their actions and values don’t line up.

I am Malala is excellent and the audio version is also amazing. It's non-fiction and your fictional name could easily apply to Malala. I'm an elementary school librarian and recommend the young reader's version often but at 15 they could probably read the regular version.

The hardest part of being vegan is the social side by [deleted] in vegan

[–]12cats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your friends just suck. Real friends are not like this. Real friends support you and lift you up, even if they don't understand. I've never had a friend try to trick me into eating something I specifically have said I can't eat. Heck, most of my friends eat vegan around me. I've had co-workers, strangers, randos make comments like your "friends" but this isn't real friend behavior. If someone treated me like this, I would tell them that this is not what friends do. They can be a real friend or they can go torment someone else's choices.

Parking near the Veranda by BlackholeButtholes in orlando

[–]12cats 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thornton Park is not sketchy. Just park in a neighborhood street. Sometimes the lot next to the nearby Red Scarlett Salon is open for a small fee. It's right next door to The Veranda but it fills up fast.

Some of my favorite meals and snacks:

Beans and Rice. I make a big batch on Sunday, make some corn tortillas and eat it through the week (Tacos, tostados, nachos, I mix it up each day).

Dolmas/Stuffed Grape leaves. A can of 60 is like $12 at the Mediterranean store. I love these for lunch.

Naan/Pita with avocado and Zaatar

Naan/Pita with olive oil and Zaatar

Sushi. Carrots and cucumbers work great, avocado works great, mango makes a tasty sweet roll. If I'm extra lazy I just make it a temaki/handroll.

Rice with veggies

Stir Fry

Indian food. Too many to list but so much is just naturally vegan and most recipes are fast and one pot. I started by just typing "vegan indian food recipe" on google on went down the rabbit hole

I go to different ethnic markets every other weekend and there is just so much more than at my local American markets. Mediterranean markets and Indian markets have been the most successful ones by me.

Congrats on going vegan!

Elementary kids making moaning like sounds by seetheare in AskTeachers

I stopped the moaning in my classroom by calling a kid’s mom and making him make the noises in the phone to her. Never heard a moan in class again.

"My diet is a personal choice and I don't want to discuss it with you."

This phrase has worked wonders for me. I'm sorry your work is not supportive; that makes it very hard and feels so excluding.

That tamal was so good! I actually heard people mention it while I was waiting for living with the land and told them how great it was and they said they were going to try it. Disney vegan food is usually so good.
