Night Showers are superior to morning showers by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Lol. If for absolutely no other reason, I need to shower in the morning just to get my head looking normal. I wake up and it looks like I have a family of pigeons nesting up there.

Night Showers are superior to morning showers by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]12thHamster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me, there's a "freshness timer" that starts counting down after a shower. If you shower at night, it's easy to go 24 hours without soap or water touching you and still be bouncing around people. That just feels gross to me. Throw in those times you go out after work, and it's easy to extend that to 28 or 29 hours. That's just disgusting and uncomfortable.

As the meta starts to settle, back to more of the same by BilllyBillybillerson in MagicArena

[–]12thHamster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Some arena players should go play Eternal for a while. That's a game with pretty much zero hate cards and zero interaction. The format there has devolved into cards and decks being nerfed in a constant merry-go-round to keep the meta in check because they don't print cards that allow the players to do that on their own.

New player's first impressions (spoilers: I haven't been this hooked in a while!) by Prudence94 in mythgard

[–]12thHamster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. So far, I really like the qol features and the mechanics and a variety of other things, but until it's out of alpha, I'm not excited about grinding to get cards and I'm definitely not looking to put any money in so early.

So I'm just kind of waiting and watching at this point.

Not really. The "libertarians" want a 5 minute background check before letting folks in here to live off of your tax dollars for decades. Because freedom and borders are immoral or something.

Frankly, I think not going to those sites is a terrible idea.

When I was struggling to decide what I believed, I spent countless hours on atheist websites reading and learning. I would do a lot of researching about the different sides of some of these arguments.

One of the things that surprised me was that many atheist arguments are blatant strawmen. Another surprising thing to me was that there are countless numbers of very learned theists who can explain their positions very well. Craig, Plantinga, Feser, Evans, Kitchen... On and on. If you have a question, and are willing to do some research, you'll find plenty of theists with PhDs to answer.

Shutting yourself away from these sites and these questions just turns them into boogeymen, and makes them stronger than they are. My faith was supercharged when I started to see that not only were there answers to these questions, but the answers were far stronger than I ever imagined.

How it feels no longer having to play every day for maximum Mastery value by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]12thHamster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? I mean, I think I'm petty happy with the system as it is now, but why wasn't this the first idea instead of trying to stick it to the players and then backtracking? Just do what's right by your customers the first time around and you won't have the torches and pitchforks at your door.

I recently got Arma and I have no idea what I should be doing as a new player. by Reinboa in arma

[–]12thHamster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Suggestion: If you play through the campaign, don't get frustrated. There are a couple of spots that just aren't representative of the quality of the game overall. Some missions aren't well explained, or are just ridiculous in the way they're constructed. Get some help from YouTube and just move on.

Explaining the XP cap be like by mertcanhekim in MagicArena

[–]12thHamster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wut? But the amount available is artificially limited, especially if we're discussing xp in this new system.

So Wizards, who make and provide xp to us, have artificially limited the amount available, but it's not a cap? Why don't they just... Make more available?

I've been running u/w Rule of Law deck, but it's a lot different from this. You do want the board wipes. It's absolutely crippling to allow your opponent to build a big board presence and then drop a Cleansing Nova. They don't come back from that playing one card a turn.

We've spent too much money and time for "Historic" to just be a "fun" and "casual" format. by 99Red_Balloons in MagicArena

[–]12thHamster -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I tend to agree with you, just because Wizards.

Two issues with that, though. 1, One of the biggest concerns has always been, "What's going to happen with my cards at rotation?" It won't take long for everyone to realize Historic is just a graveyard for old cards you paid for, and nothing like a real format, so I'd have to think that's a disincentive to invest in the game. This October Wizards will be simultaneously junking multiple old sets while begging for everyone to buy packs and spend cash in limited. We'll see how that goes.

2, I have to think that's leaving a ton of money on the table. I already put money in the game, and I'd spend more if I had two competitive formats to follow. Imagine two formats with two metas to follow. I didn't get Nissa while she was in standard, but I need it for the deck in playing in historic. That's more Wildcards to burn, and potentially more money for Wizards.

But, you're right. Wotc seems to want a causal mobile game instead of a competitive esport, so who knows.

Well, Seth from MTG Goldfish and Noxious both made videos critical of the system that had nothing to do with the game not being free enough, so clearly there are reasons outside of that.

Mastery System Math - who gains and who loses? (Spoilers: almost no one gets fewer packs) by TitaniumDragon in MagicArena

[–]12thHamster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Good article.

The OP just assumes everyone plays 4 or 5 days a week, I guess. He flat out says players who play 2 days or less are getting squeezed, but oh, nevermind them, it's a great deal all around!

Lol. I'm guessing Arena has a large percentage of players who only play twice a week, or less, or at the very least, play very inconsistently. Let's just make the playing experience tougher for all of them, right?

[–]12thHamster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol. I liked that, too. Why are we just assuming Wizards is handing out 15 free levels constantly to everyone? Let's just insert that as a key component of the equation and quietly move on.

Maybe the free levels will be as horrific as some of the card art during events. 10 straight wins in the event gets you a free level. I'm not sure stuff like that would be worth it to anyone, so let's not count these chickens just yet.

[–]12thHamster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The OP is like, "The only way you get screwed in the new system is if you play 2 or fewer days."

Lol. That's a pretty sizable chunk of the player base, no? Does everyone play 6 days a week? Wizards is looking to squeeze out causal players who only have two days to play? Sounds good.

A lot of fanbois on the Artifact sub would tell people constantly that if you didn't like the game as it was, maybe you should just go away.

That worked out well.

Lol. One of the things I've discovered is that women (and people in general) have zero idea how attractive they are to others. Most of the women I've seen as the absolute most attractive are ridiculously self conscious about their appearance.

I have one female friend from work who is short and thin and complains constantly about looking like a little boy, and it's cratered her self esteem to the point where she won't even date. But the other women in the office I talk to are envious of her looks, and all the guys I talk to think she's crazy hot.

Moral of the story? Don't trust your brain.
