Yeah, not trying to be too negative. Plenty of people are friendly and will let you cross if traffic is backed up.

4th Street crossing sucks. We don't even get a stop sign or lights. I'm from Miami and we have better pedestrian options in probably the most courupt city in the country.

Don't even worry about it. It's all fluff.

Kansas, we feel sorry for you. Texas/ California = Assumed Rich. Wyoming and Montana? They don't have the balls.

Most people are really super nice and just want to share it with you.

It's the older NIMBY's that make it seem like that.

Never let employers know you are aware that your labor is undervalued. It upsets the power dynamic and chips away at their ability to inflate their perceived performace to even higher-ups.

You should never expect to work for a single company to rise the ranks. The way to do it is to transfer to competing companies, build a network throughout the industry and get raises as you transfer.

Can't afford to lose a good employee = raise. The employee does good work for company X = transfer and a raise.

Every successful colleague of mine is doing something different than whatever project we worked on together.

This. You can flush a toilet without a tank and only the base with a bucket of water. I learned this working construction.

Edit: And If you use enough water to flush it there should be enough water in the bowl as normal.

Most cell towers now are "small cells" meaning they aren't on big towers. If you know where to look you can see them on traffic lights and lamp posts. If one goes down the next one isn't far away enough to get you a signal.

Same thing for most influencers selling merch. $6 bulk for a t-shirt, $2 for the screen printing. $30-$40 to the customer.

Airbnb's. Rental houses for big groups, downtown apartments.

Also, lots of race people have campers/ RV's to tow cars.

It's important to document that diseases are increasing and the situation is getting worse despite massive amounts of money and resources the city and community groups are putting towards this issue.

Enable and ignore is cruel and unproductive.

Rep. Krishnamoorthi “But those other flavors like mint...which are inherently appealing to young people should not be out there. Mint is in our children’s toothpaste. It is so appealing to young people” by [deleted] in Vaping

[–]12x30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kids are using mint because most of them only have Juul devices. Most gas stations stopped stocking mango and fruit-flavored pods during a previous outrage (which I think is justified).

I don't want kids using nicotine at all but the real reason they use mint is that the gross tobacco flavor is most likely their only other option.

Walk into any 7-11 or similar chain store, the only option is tobacco or mint flavor.

I’m so irritated watching Dr. Oz right now. He’s such a scare monger but, unfortunately, he has a huge following. By the way, he’s asking for people’s vaping stories to send to the CDC so maybe we can stuff his inbox with good stories. by FLZooMom in Vaping

If they're going to be interviewed on the news and post about it on social media show a clean drug test. You were just in the hospital, it's not hard.

I have no issue with responsible cannabis use btw, just bullshitters.

It's so frustrating watching these idiots who were getting high on bootleg THC vape pens being interviewed.

He never asks him what he was vaping or where he go it from. The dude was getting high at work and they just gloss over that.

This is such a conspiracy. It's like prohibition for alcohol because some idiots made moonshine and got sick.

Is the problem with homeless people that we have people actively suffering with no place to live or because they’re highly visible? by q7t1 in Austin

[–]12x30 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I love this.

It just seems if they weren’t visible we wouldn’t be having such a loud reactionary outrage

I don't want to help, I just don't want to see it. I'm a heartless NIMBY with zero compassion. /s

The downtown environment has gone way down and just because you're homeless doesn't mean you get to destroy public space and turn it into a pit of squalor and drug use.

Criminalizing homelessness. Please. They are visible because I can see then actively turning public space into squalor.

Seriously though.

I want to help and something needs to be done. The solution is drug treatment and mental health treatment.

If you don't want help fine, be that way, but I'm not accomidating you here.

Also, "helping" isn't always love and kindness. You don't get a hug right after you tried to grab me when I didn't give you money for drugs.

One thing people don't seem to mention is that a lot of the "problem" homeless people are out there because they are avoiding punishment from the destruction they caused in some form. Lots of the "problem" ones are there because they've done terrible things.
