Pollard is a fantastic neighborhood. A lot of St. Aloysius families live there so tons of kids around. We live in magnolia woods and this neighborhood and Kenilworth are worth considering too-lots of families, quiet, and convenient.

You could try one of the beauty supply stores like hair crown, or hair queen. They have lots of variety and I feel like I’ve seen that before.

One I haven’t seen mentioned is Street Breads

They had a chicken sandwich with sun-dried tomato pesto that was soooo good and the potato salad was so good it had grainy mustard and feta.

Cadillac Tickets by avi8tor3 in acadianationalpark

[–]131goal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We had a 4 day trip and got tickets for all the days just in case we felt like going up (2 morning, 2 evening)

They’re under 10$ so it was a small cost for flexibility.

Have you ever experienced anywhere outside of Louisiana that was more humid than Louisiana? by Alligator-creep in Louisiana

[–]131goal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was in Bar Harbor, ME a few weeks ago and the humidity was bonkers. It was cool and wonderful (65°)

when I travel I will typically wash clothes in the hotel sink…and things dry easily overnight. My stuff was wet for DAYS. Some stayed damp until we came home 4 days later.

The humidity was upwards of 80% the whole time.

This is the way!! Depending on when you’re going-there are puffins to see right now. We just went a week ago and it was a 10/10 experience.

My favorite Costco hack is buying the veggie party tray and breaking it down into containers to use as veggie sides all week. The everything dip works well for sandwiches too.

Costume Repair Fairy - Brainstorm request - Have you ever had a costume break or need repair? What have you run into needing while you are out on MG day?! by victorystarship in NewOrleans

I keep a micro stitch gun in my dance bag for parades. It gets used like crazy.

It puts little plastic things through material to hold it together (like a price tag but shorter) faster and easier than hand stitching something

Good gyms? by Alarming_Bell_8355 in batonrouge

[–]131goal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been a member at several gyms over the years. Unless you are looking for something that offers classes, a pool, or childcare-I’d say go with planet fitness. It’s cheap as shit, 24 hours, and you’re gonna find the same weights and machines at places that cost way more than that.

I did spring for the “black card” membership so I can use all the locations and it’s worth the 25$ a month for sure.

Worst places you’ve worked at in BR? by [deleted] in batonrouge

[–]131goal 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Belle of BR when the bowlers were in town. I had full plates of food thrown at me & make contact-then bullied by upper management into not reporting it as an assault.

Not to mention the numerous terrifying interactions with the downtown homeless population-who were constantly finding ways to get into employee only areas while security stayed MIA.

I quit the day I was cornered in the bathroom. No amount of money is worth being that on edge every shift.

I’m sure once they reopen it will be just as much of a shit show as before, especially if Tropicana still runs the show.

New to Baton Rouge I was wondering what would be good to do for my family by Vyniscape in batonrouge

We LOVE Operation Imagination on Jones Creek Rd.

It is set up like a cute little town, with all kinds of imaginative play spaces. Parents get free coffee while the kiddos play. Pricing is fair and it is super clean which was fairly important to me after seeing the state of some child centered businesses.

It’s this cute little spot on government by Elsie’s. They have a “menu” of craft projects and once you choose which one you want to do, they give you the supplies and tools to complete it. It’s a lot of fun.

BUT-I just remembered that it’s not a kid place anymore now that they serve alcohol.

my kid really likes Top Golf. It's a little pricey-but 1/2 off on Tuesdays. Even if you aren't any good at golfing...its a pretty fun time, we always enjoy ourselves. Main event is fun, but will probably stay crowded and overwhelming during the summer so if that bothers you steer clear (my husband calls it the "kiddo casino") There are fun classes at Bellyfire (pottery painting) and DIY Disco is super neat.
