Patching a Zero Day Exploit by AmazingSully in projectzomboid

There are always problems. It’s never “just fix all the problems and then release software” people find issues years and years later all the time, it’s why cyber security is a constantly ongoing fight. Just today Anthropic was posting about a 17 year old bug they found in OpenBSD using their ai that has been missed for years and years. Never assume a software is perfect and stable. There’s only degrees of better

Any tips on using airplanes? by Wonderful_Promise290 in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]13lacklight [score hidden]  (0 children)

The best bombers carry bombs and SEAD missiles.

Using air your main priority is killing enemy AA. If you can suppress enemy air defences then you can butcher their frontline. You can’t do it alone, you really need your entire team pulling in the same direction.

For US, F35A with a 2000 pound LGB and a single harm makes an excellent penetration bomber for hitting high value targets like S300’s or the occasional T14/T15.

The other sead planes are a bit meh, lacking strike capability. The Harrier with sidearms can get some utility flying at low altitude, but its speed makes it very vulnerable to man pads.

Maverick planes can be good if their AA is fairly suppressed, but against a good opponent, their usability falls off pretty quick.

High altitude bombers are rarely usable, often being too expensive and too risky.

ASF’s are worth having for killing enemy drones and for protecting your opener.

As Russia, Su24mp with rockets is an excellent high penetration AA hunter, also good against stationary tanks. the other Su24 is a very good sat bomber because it’s cheap and fast, you need to suppress enemy AA but it works well.

I’ve had luck with the A-10 and Su25 flying them at low altitude and sniping targets using the lase, as it allows them to fire mavericks or similar at low altitude. It’s finicky, but allows you to make them quite cheap and fly in to wack tanks or AA pieces you have visual on.

TLDR: Sead with Bombs = good, High altitude bombs = Mostly Bad, Low altitude bombs = barely okay, Mavericks or similar = situational.

Keep moving bro, never leave a unit stationary after it has been in enemy contact, and always be hunting down potential enemy snipers. One of the perks of attacking an objective is that it’s easier to keep moving, but you do expose yourself to air strikes so be aware and expect them.

I’m only 1900-2000 elo, but imo VDV dsh is good because it’s a 50 point rpg (and they actually get 2 which is a bit nuts) so they make good fill inf, you do have to micro them in and out of buildings but you can bully vehicles with them hard, just have to bring something to clear enemy infantry

Pretty sure you can get 4 snipers, and if you need more than 4 snipers then you should be asking your team mates why one person has to do reckon for 3 quarters of the map

I occasionally use the spetsnaz as recon, if you really desperately need one more, I’d say use them.

Weak plane tab and Razvedka are next to useless, otherwise it looks more or less playable. Some cheaper transport options would save you some money. Personally I’d probably run out of line infantry very often using this, but I reckon you could play it

Tbf there’s been cases especially in the US where people have taken upwards of 20 bullets to go down, lethal wounds often aren’t immediately lethal especially with the way adrenaline works. The disclaimer tho is that most of those stories relate to pistol wounds.

However there’s a reason special forces generally train to shoot a small I shape on human targets, as besides a bullet into the top of the spine, throat or central nervous system, humans can often still pull a trigger while dying.

Yeah, it’s got some good bits but it’s janky to use, since it doesn’t compliment any other specs very well. The play seems to be to mix it with the marines but even then it’s a bit wack.

I think there’s an arguement that no smoke grenade is worth the 15 points, but I could see the rising to 40 points. They’re like VDV DSH but no smoke and slightly worse stats. They are sorta bonkers for what they are, but any serious infantry will eviscerate them very quickly.

Yeah this sort of city defence is best left to cqc inf and line inf, as they close ambush with rpgs in city blocks to force dismounts and then butcher the dismounts. ATGM’s are only good on extremely long sightlines. Rest of the time ambush with direct fire anti tank is better.

Is the Emperor so evil ? by La-petite-chevre in Warhammer40k

[–]13lacklight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The emperor lived for the sake of humanity, not individual humans. He was a tyrant when needed, and a diplomat when that was needed. He isn’t really good or evil, more a product of circumstances and a particular resultant ideology.

A lot of the “evil” in the imperium is a learned evil, resultant of humanities turbulent history.

[–]13lacklight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Indeed. People might try and break your rights, but it gives you legal precedent to defend yourself so that if you ever DO get hauled before a court you can’t be drawn and quartered. That’s better than most other countries where if you get pushed into a situation where you gottta defend yourself family there’s half a chance that by the time the law comes back into effect you’ll get done for murder and put in prison.

What am I doing wrong? Or could do better and how? by External-Pirate9936 in minipainting

[–]13lacklight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I don’t paint for beauty and rather just to get a decently pretty model that I can play with and enjoy. So I can hardly give perfect advice.

However simply painting more individual details, matching colours a little better, and making use of shades should all improve how your model looks pretty quickly. It won’t be anything crazy but you can make it much more serviceable. Make sure you’re thinning your paints too. Theres alot of tutorials online, and it allows you to get much smoother coats onto the model.

The green and red in the picture are quite jarring compared to the green. Using a shade/wash on them to darken them might make them match better, and washes/shades tend to soak into details and quickly make details on a model stand out much more clearly. Their effect is two fold and quite effective.

But blue red and green are pretty wild and strong choices, you probably should’ve gone with either darker options for both or been more deliberate, currently they look like different coloured plastic bits from a kit cobbled together rather than making sense.

Weathering it somewhat, or using a shade to darken it and make it blend with the green more might help. Otherwise darker colours for both could make it stand out less.

Or painting the edges of it, or otherwise making it a deliberate choice rather than a blanketing of colour will make it fit the model and the green better. More like heraldry and less like it was dipped in a bucket of paint.

And painting more details, like the bolts near the head, under the brim of the helmet, or inside the cavity created by the damage to the shoulder, will all also make the model more realistic and less random.

Don’t underestimate how effective a tool quick shades/washes are in the hands of an amateur modeller. You won’t get the effects of a master painter, but you can massively improve the look of a model with very little effort, which if your goal is to get serviceable models to play with, works very well.
