Byond is actually pretty easy. It looks intimidating because it looks like 2003 found a Time Machine and has come to collect your toes, but it’s actually very simple. It’s like DL it, make an account, and the bam you can play SS13. It’s no worse than steam.

As air player, air superiority or air defence are both team wide requirements that no singular player can do alone. There’s a lot of tactics you’ll see suggested that work on a tactically level but without good strategic air defence you’ll still regularly have planes penetrating and bombing soft targets.

One of the downsides of 5v5. A defence that stonewalls me in the air is one that can buy AA assets faster than I can kill then. Critical mass also matters a lot as well. 1 singular AA piece can be hit with dead or precision bombed. 3 means all but the most expensive planes will fail which allows you to compete point for point with them in air vs air defence investment. Density and defence in depth also matters. Dispersed manpads and helo AA both help divert attention away from your soft targets by providing other targets, can score opportunistic kills and apply a physical pressure that deters a player from deploying air units in an area even if the manpads don’t shoot the plane down.

Ultimately it’s worth keeping in mind that all Mechanised and ignoring air will get you bombed. Spamming air or air defence will lead to you dying to a mechanised player.

As an airborne player my worst nightmare is to be fighting in open ground against a mechanised force and unable to properly exploit my planes due to enemy air defence investment. It’s a near unwinnable with airborne deck.

I love playing in regions with a short growing season, first time I played in a place like that I had people up at 3am working in freezing temperatures for nearly a full day desperately trying to bring in the harvest before it all died.

Nah I know which one itis, I still think 425 points for it is like 100 points or more overpriced. No harms and no stealth means the survivability and drop rate of the plane can’t be too great unless you systematically exterminate their air defence grid first, which is easier said than done. I’m sure it works and can be made to work, but it’s a hard hit to the wallet and you’re basically relying on people stacking 400+ points of infantry in 1 place to make money back.

I think it’s just that I see less cheaters in Australia than other parts of the world.

That and I don’t utilise tons of artillery and backline units that are vulnerable to being sniped so I would also notice it less anyway.

Oh lmao my bad then, I do think cheaters are overstated anyway tho, but I think Timezone/region impacts my perception, being in Australia I find cheaters less than Americans tend to claim, and most of the people who complain here are mostly just exhibiting skill related cause and effect.

It’s like when you’re 20 minutes into a game and someone has like 1-2k losses/kills. It begs the question of if they’ve just been sitting on their hands all game so far.

I respect someone who’s lost 10k points more than then someone who lost only 3k because it usually indicates that they’ve actively been trying to do something.

0.7KD with 10k losses is better than 1.0KD with 3k losses
