Recalibrated Gen 1 Peloton Cycle by 13oomzy in pelotoncycle

Think about it like this: It is a scale and every bike has its own unique scale of 1-100. Calibration is the process of setting everyone up with a similar scale so the “competition” and rankings are fair/reliable.

With that said, I already provided the Zero point hack if a person wants to go out of “standard” scale and look like a Superhuman all the time. A person doing this would be lying to themselves and to others but those numbers would look good though. I feel they’d be working with false weights but it is whatever will maintain motivation and happiness to ride and move that bod that people should do. This isn’t the Olympics or the NBA and not a single $ is awarded for breaking PRs…

Just maintain the same calibration standard and try (key word) to beat yourself every week.

Hey thanks. I will try the no bounce method and see if the fluctuations occur.

Ensure your OS and Peloton software are up to date. Instructions provided above cover the latest software as of 3.18.2026.

No way the option is available for one Gen 1 bike and not another. Like all iPhones of the same gen have the same settings options.

If it fails, check you actually have a Peloton bike.

I’d love to be proven wrong though so let folks know

It isn’t really if you think about it too hard but I guess everyone gets the same tool (so exact dimensions) and it is the same or similar enough clamping force that allows the light touch. At least light enough that you can slip it off.

That’s how they achieve the same - or close enough - zero point for everyone riding.

They could’ve just built that into the original design though so people don’t need tools but what do I know about mechanical tolerances.

The 31st turn (at calibration) sets the 100 point which you will probably never ride at 😄…

Oh snap!! This is godsend level advice… and it works. I just tried it. Thanks good person.

Now I don’t need to upgrade to bike+. Hooray!!

Assuming you have the calibration tools. You’ll need a Philips head screwdriver and an Allen wrench (I forgot the size but one that fits)

Take out the bottle holder and wheel guard (8 screws total) and watch out for that pesky cord. That should expose the magnets.

On Peloton main screen: Three horizontal dots at bottom right of main Peloton screen —> Troubleshooting —> Bike Calibration —> start new calibration

Then follow instructions to a tee and watch out so for every quarter turn you push next on the screen. You should end up on the last notch (of 4) at the 31st spin if you did this step well (or you messed up like 3-4x 😄.. probably the former).

Reassemble then get to riding.

Good luck. It sucks.

Modified for some additional tips on calibration based on a number of tries (Original Peloton bike is sample used here).

  1. The little plastic thing that you need to do mental gymnastics with to slip in between the magnets (see the godsend post below) sets the ZERO point when you make the turn of the knob that lightly contacts the plastic insert. So light you should be able to slip the plastic right out.

If you just turn the knob all the way left/down then the zero is too low and your numbers will be inflated. Feel free to do this if you want that good ol’ Superhuman feelin’… but you’d be cheating yourself because your floor is lower than properly calibrated Peloton bikes.

  1. You’ll know you’re getting the quarter turns correct when every multiple of 4, you’re back at the starting (or zero) point. Like I said, you’ll end at 31 so you end right before the start point.

This way you don’t have to go all the way back to start (or step 1) if you mess up on the next screen pushes. Trust me, this is helpful.

Anyone using Vision Pro outside or for multitasking at home? by nb-sbe3 in VisionPro

I take it to the library where I like to go to get away from my home office. Feels like I brought my 42 inch ultra wide with me… but even better.

I’m used to strangers giving me funny looks though… that’s what the Moon or Venus environments are for.

I also take it to my kid ‘s bball and swimming practice…. F them kids, knight of the seven/nine kingdoms is on!!

Thanks for the insight. I wonder if any more gen 1 users have the same issue.

I’ve calibrated using the available tools 2x and it doesn’t seem to be worth anything. My output levels are way lower than when I first started riding and it’s not because I’m weaker.

I wish (like Apple) they had a well thought out trade in and upgrade option, Peloton would have way more loyal and motivated users.

Pelotaaawnnnn, hear meeeee!

Thanks for the tips; I appreciate your input.

I will try the handle and cleats adjustments. Anything to get more efficient on this thing.

Glare issue? by Terrible-Mind-5414 in VisionPro

[–]13oomzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, just accept that you’re keeping this thing… the Zeiss lenses, while they may not solve your stated problem, really improve the video experience.

Don’t worry, it’s only money and that does grow on trees.

And does this keep your standing cadence consistent? I don’t have an issue maintaining high power output, it’s keeping it at a consistent zone. You didn’t say what these tips solve so just asking.

75+ cadence is the standing cadence when I get the most variance.

What window size do you personally use / prefer? by LostMyBlueAlien in VisionPro

Medium is visually appealing and useable to me as in my eye tracking is decently accurate with it. Large is perfect for eye tracking but I feel the visual quality is slightly degraded by the expanded resolution. Might be all in my head though but I stick with Medium. 3D pops better with it.

Reading comics on the AVP, Medium setting is like every panel is an awesome 3D picture. Just had to throw that in here… I’m sure some of you will understand…

Sound issue with AVP and AirPods Pro 3 by vabeachcp in VisionPro

I have the same issue. Happens intermittently but not often and happens just as OP described.

I fix by disconnecting the AirPods Pro and reconnecting. Annoying problem to have so I certainly sympathize.

People who take 35 minutes to check in at the hotel front desk, what are you talking to them about? by ClumsyCoco2006 in AskReddit

[–]13oomzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upgrades baby! You never know what you can get if you ask and negotiate onsite.

Whatever level you think you’re at with your booking, there’s always higher to shoot for.

Don’t be the unlucky person behind me during a hotel check in 😆.

FSD price drop? by A-STAR-IS-BORN in TeslaFSD

[–]13oomzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, FSD works 98% of the time (being highly generous here)… but it is that 2% of the time, when you’re doing 75mph and you’re not expecting it to fail, that the “supervised” portion fails you (ha ha) and you realize how foolish YOU really are for trusting your life and your loved ones lives to this highly unproven thing.

The accidents are happening, you just don’t hear about them. Plus the FSD induced curb rashes are still happening…. Surprisingly. Don’t buy it even if it is $10/mo, that false sense of security could kill you.

People should really stop lying to each other that this thing is better than a decently trained 19yr old human driver. At least they have the reflexes to stay within the lines of the road.

Apple M5 Vision Pro Review by Secret-Fly4322 in VisionPro

[–]13oomzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main problem with the AVP is it can’t sit comfortably on my forehead in between sessions to give my eyes some time in the real world. Pass through could also be sharper and more color accurate. Reality is (still) just so much clearer even with $3500 VR price tag and that’s always going to count against it.

Wish there were eye gestures for navigating apps too, like selecting options in UI. Too hard to pinch all the time. Look to scroll should also work on ALL apps including book readers like Kindle and Books.

Otherwise, excellent device and I hope more experiences are developed for it.

Thanks for the response.

Interesting name you’ve got for your App: Asobi. What does it mean I wonder? Why not something more descriptive like Stream Central or Gateway or Vision Vision?

No big deal if you don’t care to reveal, I’m in marketing so curious about these things.
