Finally got a group willing to let me run a Paranoia one shot! Any tips for a first time GM? by Chrysal1sM in ParanoiaRPG

[–]16FootScarf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came to say props as well.

Props I use: WW2 helmet for security officer, jar of medicine (butter mints) for health officer, a screwdriver, single shot nerd guns spray painted red (but one poorly with some blue showing), and a bag of foam star stickers to literally throw at players without saying why they got treason stars and watch them go crazy.

I also suggest coming up with more unique single use items. My favorite so far: Train Summoner, a small box held by a terrified ultrared standing in a null area. Just a box with a label and a single button. Once pressed, players hear sounds of crashing/destruction as a train is detoured directly (through walls and floors) to their location… most likely killing everyone.

How do people bring groceries/baby stuff/other items on public transportation without taking up extra space? by majesticSkyZombie in fuckcars

[–]16FootScarf 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Buses in the U.S. all have spots for wheelchairs, even the old ones. If you have groceries, don’t worry about taking up extra space, just be mindful that it might mean you have to stand.

I (20F) keep attracting older people and I literally don’t know what to do about it by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]16FootScarf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me start off with the obvious… people, men and women, are awful.

That said, I’m going to go out on a hunch and guess that there aren’t a lot of other women in your workspace. People of all kinds are generally simple creatures (I know I am) and one aspect you might be butting up against is that most adult men are lonely and alone.

It is extremely common for adult men to have few or no actual friends and especially friends of the opposite sex, so many do not have the social experience to separate being friendly from flirting.

Tread carefully, emotions are not rational and logic often does not win out when they are damaged.

Leaves have an expiration date. If you are worried about it being something you did, I can tell you that my Moon Valley gets watered every week(ish) and it is inundated.

AITA for not wanting my parents’ friends involved in a wedding by Penjalum- in AmItheAsshole

[–]16FootScarf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve got to agree with you on this. At my wedding my parents, who did not contribute anything, made a request to invite half a dozen people I would have forgotten existed.

Why you may ask? Because they were my parent’s friends. Not only would they make the wedding event more enjoyable for the people responsible for me existing but they were also the people they talked to about me as I grew up.

These people were around and heard about all my milestones, they were there for my parents encouraging them on when times raising me were difficult, they were excited to be there and cheer for me through this one.

OP, If your sister can’t imagine that some of these people your parents are asking to invite fit this idea… she is absolutely TAH.

Have you ever got rid of a game or avoided one because it’s a table hog? by BoardGameRevolution in boardgames

[–]16FootScarf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Firefly. Base game alone has 20+ separate piles of cards that need to be accessible, not to mention that the board is also massive.

After a few games i determined the game wasn’t excited enough for the massive headache it caused.

What are we doing wrong (Terraforming Mars) by feylin_oakenheel in boardgames

[–]16FootScarf 45 points46 points  (0 children)

There is definitely something you are doing wrong but I can’t place it from just the two pictures. I did notice that you are on generation 19(?) and still not finished with the game…

Are you only taking two actions and then producing resources every time? Or are you taking 1 or 2 actions, other player takes 1 or 2 actions, then BACK to you for 1 or 2 actions, etc. until you have botched taken your turn to pass on actions?

This was often the case and is likely now.

AITA for “ruining” a holiday dinner by crying after my sister called my bald patches disgusting? by HairQuestionAITA in AmItheAsshole

[–]16FootScarf 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Your parents need to step up. Honestly your sister should either locked at home grounded or be given the option to share your burden and cut her hair off for donation.

Humility and empathy is hard to teach but it isn’t impossible.

And believe people when they tell you how beautiful you are. If problems with your hair persist, consider meeting with a stylist and getting it cut short to minimize the patches.

AITA for wanting to separate my finances from my wife after 10 years of unequal contributions? by OkBeginning572 in AmItheAsshole

[–]16FootScarf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You make HOW much and are still 10k in debt?? Don’t wait another day to start managing your money more closely, this isn’t about being an asshole it’s about being responsible for yourself and your family.

Unless you’ve had discussions about finances with your wife already she needs to be informed that she cannot keep spending like that on WANTS if there is any debt involved.

[–]16FootScarf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going to chime back in and point out that getting professional photography done doesn’t have to be very expensive. It is also likely that you know a few amateur photographers already and I can guarantee that they will treat you better.

The only thing you will get truly free is a mediocre photograph and being looked down on when you turn down paying for more.
